Little info on the Theus situation...

#1
So I haven't logged onto this account in several years, but I still lurk around this board regulary.. But I decided to look up my account to share some information you all may like to hear. Take it for what it is worth, so believe if you want to. If enough people question me I might upload a picture for proof, but I'd rather not waste my time.

So pretty much the weekend before last I was invited by a friend to a birthday she was having at the Palms in Vegas. Her parents are very wealthy and friends with the Maloofs, so they hooked us up in the Hardwood Suite (some 25 grand a night suite with a half court inside...

Soo enough with the backstory, I'll get to the point.

The first night there we were all drinking and hanging out when Gavin Maloof comes into our suite to hang out. I strike up a conversation with him, play a game of basketball, and take a quick photo while he was there. Once he left I also ran into him again in the gift shop while I was picking up some things.
I was trying to hammer him to force Reggie to play the kids more, (mostly Jason Thompson), but he just laughed my intoxicated request off..
But he did share one piece of information.
He told me that him and his brother hate Reggie Theus and are going to fire him soon, despite what the players want. He told me that the players all really like Reggie, but that he doesn't and that he will do something about it.

Take it for what its worth, but this is coming directly from Gavin's mouth

I originally deleted this, which is why the date isn't current.

No, actually it's coming from your fingers saying it came from Gavin's mouth.

;)

Call me skeptical, but I find it hard to believe that Gavin directly told you he is going to fire Reggie even though the players love him.

The fact that Reggie could be canned at any moment doesn't change this.

It's not, and it may be true. I am not calling the guy a liar, I am just saying it seems a little strange that Maloof would say something so private, for lack of a better word, to someone he doesn't know at all.
Dimedropper, enclosed in this message is a link to a web page, a diagram, and a dumb picture which may prove very useful in finding the answer to your conundrum:

why is the man's story so hard to believe?
Because it reeks of asinine so-called facts. The poster says he was drunk, the poster says Gavin decided to talk openly to him as a stranger, the poster says Gavin gave him an exclusive, very inside Kings info, and furthermore the poster says Gavin used the word "hate" to describe how he and Joe feel about Reggie Theus. It simply reeks or at least smells very fishy as I said.

Tradepeja, I think you are forgetting something...

I'm Irish! I don't need to be told anything about alcohol! :p
I have a friend thats Irish, and he told me how an irishman can tell if he's drunk or not. As long as an irishman can lay on the lawn and hold onto the grass, and not be thrown off the earth, he's not drunk.

He told me this of course while lying on the lawn.

:D

The stereotype is probably a bit exaggerated, but there is really a problem over here with drinking. However, Ireland is not just one big mass of red-haired, drunk leprachauns!

i am sick and tired of the magoofs thinking their hot shot rockstar music producers, with their kings reality tv shows, and stuck up rich boy attitudes. they both lack a brain if you ask me. this story sounds like classic magoofs, wouldnt doubt that its true

So lets see... the Maloofs HATE Reggie, but yet he is still employed by them???

If I was a rich NBA owner and I HATED the owner, he would be gone last week. I could EASILY find another coach and I wouldnt care about the outcome. I HATE THIS guy, I am RICH. I OWN the team, why would I be waiting to fire this man?

Nope, dont buy it at all. If the Maloofs wanted him gone, hed be gone already.

And I like the Maloofs a lot, simply because they have passion for their team and they will do what they think needs to be done to help them win, something many NBA owners will not do. I can not believe they would be that stupid to open up to some stranger and tell him they HATE the guy that is running their NBA team.

One would have to at least seriously hope this isn't true.
If I were going to make up something about a drunken stuper while being in a suite at the palms. It wouldn't have been a Maloof wondering in my room. I would have been a Jessica. Don't matter which one of Biel, Alba, Simpson.

:D

Yeah, ummm....

...

... this story ... how do I put this???

... strains credibility... to put it gingerly.

Now, if the Maloofs fire Theus in a couple of weeks, then more power to the OP. Until such time, I have to doubt the legitimacy of this account. Sorry.

How hilarious is it that we're debating whether it's true if this person:

1) got comped at some room at the Palms with a basketball court
2) got drunk with the owners of the Kings, and
3) Gavin bragged that he was going to fire Reggie

The mere fact that all of this is within the realm of possibility really makes me love the Kings, the Maloofs and the NBA.

The NBA! Where possibly getting drunk with blabbermouth owners happens!

No, he's not. He was an active member of the forum a long time ago. So while his story may or may not be true, he's not a Laker fan.
Unless he's an insurgent!!! Jk Kings =P
I have no choice but to believe this based on Kings' previous posts (from a while ago). Kings fans have class... that being said, WTF??? just when I was about to give Reggie another year after this :(

I think you're making way more of this than you need to...

It's a totally unsubstantiated story to begin with. You certainly do have the choice not to believe it.

I have a picture of me with Jerry Reynolds taken several years ago. If I tell you that Jerry told me while that picture was being taken that he resents Grant Napear and actually paid me money to call Grant "Howdy Doody" at least once a day on this board, would you "have no choice but to believe it"?

If so, I've got a bridge I'd like you to think about buying.

:p

Did he do anything back then that would lead you to believe he was a liar? Or better yet did he show signs of the kind of imagination he would need to have to make up this story?

I would buy your bridge if it seemed like a good deal, as long as you gave me a receipt. I'm trusting a stranger because he really isn't that strange after reading a lot from him. The more you get to know someone, the more you trust them. Which is why I wouldn't believe Jerry resents Grant (the more you spend time with someone, the more pertinent your friendship becomes imo) and why I would buy your bridge- why would you be so mean? I guess I'm just a gullible person, but as you said, we're all entitled to believe what we want. I believe it and I think it's pretty important because their hatred towards Reggie may not be related to his coaching abilities at all.

You and I have different definitions of the word "love."

wow, I knew this kind of stuff was going to happen, and I somehow thought that you all would find me credible...?

I told you what he told me, I do take back one thing. While writing the story I wrote that Gavin HATES Reggie, that was untrue, Gavin was just explaining how he and his brother dislike the coach, although all the players disagree.

Having most of you doubt and call me a liar definatly irrates me. So, I'm at work for the rest of the night, but sometime tomorrow I will upload the picture of me and him on the hardwood suite's basketball court.

This actually kind of does sound like something I could see Gavin or Joe Maloof doing. They seem to have a hard time keeping things inside that don't need to be out for everyone to hear. The first Artest trade for example. With that said there is a big difference between somebody saying they "hate" Reggie and "dislike". I think the dislike part isn't so hard to believe either. They came out way early in the season and let that pretty much be known.
