wow, I knew this kind of stuff was going to happen, and I somehow thought that you all would find me credible...?

I told you what he told me, I do take back one thing. While writing the story I wrote that Gavin HATES Reggie, that was untrue, Gavin was just explaining how he and his brother dislike the coach, although all the players disagree.

Having most of you doubt and call me a liar definatly irrates me. So, I'm at work for the rest of the night, but sometime tomorrow I will upload the picture of me and him on the hardwood suite's basketball court.

The picture will prove that you were there. What some of us aren't quite buying into is what Gavin may or may not have said to you.

You're taking this personally but NO ONE on this board, to my knowledge, actually knows you and you haven't been active for a very long time. Sorry if you don't have any established credibility but anyone can come on a message board and claim someone told them something, right?

Regardless, your "report" is no different than something Sam Amick or Scott Howard-Cooper or another professional might have said and lord knows we argue with and about them all the time.

I repeat - don't take it personally.

How can you take being called a liar not personally? Its inherently personal.

People weren't just "arguing" about him, people were calling him a liar. I think he deserves some leeway here in being at least a little bit irritated. That is, of course, as long as he is actually telling the truth, which seems likely at this point.

NO ONE called you a LIAR - you did as much to call yourself one. I went back through the thread and not a single person who refused to blindly buy your little tale uttered that word. The words used by so many in response were one's like "skeptical," "seems strange," "smells fishy," "strains credibility," and the like. Then you come back to say the word "HATE" (a big part of original story) was not uttered out of Gavin's mouth, after you already admitted you were DRUNK to begin with. And you continue to wonder why there's a bit of scrutiny going on here?

How hilarious is it that we're debating whether it's true if this person:

1) got comped at some room at the Palms with a basketball court
2) got drunk with the owners of the Kings, and
3) Gavin bragged that he was going to fire Reggie

The mere fact that all of this is within the realm of possibility really makes me love the Kings, the Maloofs and the NBA.

The NBA! Where possibly getting drunk with blabbermouth owners happens!

nbrans wins the thread! Hands down.

edit: ooh 200! yeah baby!

well I will post a picture of me and him that will obviousally prove both points 1 and 2 wrong.. The picture will show that I was definatly in the hardwood suite and drinking/ playing ball with Gavin..

Sorry I didn't have my microphone to record the convorsation, but I assure you all that I don't get my "jollys" from coming onto a forum I rarely post at and making up false information.

Honestly, I have nothing to prove to any of you. If you don't want to believe then don't. I am not making you believe, and honestly don't care if you do. I am only offering to share a pretty interesting piece of information that I had no obligation to share other than helping other fans gain a better perspective into the organization. So if your going to degrade my thread in any way just leave. I am not forcing you trust me, just offering my info to those who want to trust me.

So, you get a 25k a room night and hang out with the maloofs and the way you repay them is by making a posting on a well known forum talking about how they are bashing one of their employees.

If it is true then that is actually pretty messed up.

In defense of the original poster please keep in mind the timing of the comment alledgedly made by Gavin

The weekend before last put the comment around 11/29 after the Dallas Loss. The team just lost 9 of the last 10 Games. Went from 4w5L to 5w14L . At the time the Media was implying that Reggie was on very thin ice. Even many fans here on the Board thought Reggie could be fired.

If Lakers had blown us away at Arco Tues and again on Friday, I think Gavins comment could have really happened. But We won Tues and played them close (for 3 Qtrs anyway) last night. If Kings start playing better Reggie could still be around for a while, but if another 9loss out of 10 streak? Then may happen.

I think the comments made by Gavin may have been real, I have no reason to doubt a long time KingsFans.com member. But then a Rumor is still a rumer, hearsay may have happened but whether it really comes to action by Maloofs is another

Combination of claims is what makes it "possible" for me. Rich friend->comped->owner shows up->indiscretion. If the OP claimed that he had shots with Gavin at TGI Fridays, somewhere in the boonies and Gavin pulled him to the side to give him "straight dope" on Reggie, that would be totally impossible.

I don't know that many rich people, but one that I know was the owner of the company that brought me over to the US. We (newco founding employees) all went to Vegas for meetings with investors in the new company and everything was comped, the whole floor. Lots of very rich individuals, I got comped too just because I was in their "entourage". When booze was in full flaw (after the meetings) I stood shoulder to shoulder with some super rich people from Microsoft, Dell and bunch of Sand Hill Rd venture capitalists. Heard stories about their high profile employees and executives of dot-coms (this was in 1999) that I don't bother repeating precisely because they are so implausible coming from me.

I am not saying OP is not making it all up, but if he is - he is a good lier.

One part that I just can't swallow is that players like Reggie - they sure ain't showing it on the court. That I can see for myself.

Wow. You are soooo missing the point. You have not been active on this forum in years. You all of a sudden pop up and people are supposed to blindly believe what you say?

No one has attacked you personally or degraded you. They have voiced legitimate skepticism. It's not about trust. You're the one who's all upset about this.

I tend to agree with Amory. If the events did happen as you say, you're repaying Gavin by running to a message board to share what he shared with you?

It is not or should not be about calling you a liar. It's about you saying you were drunk and partying with the Maloofs and Gavin bared his soul to you about the future of the head coach. Look at it logically...if someone else out of the blue told you this story, wouldn't you be skeptical?

I don't doubt that you were in fact there and I don't doubt that Gavin might have said something about Theus. There's just no way to know if you misunderstood (remember you said you were drunk) or if Gavin was kidding, etc.

Again, you're acting as though this is a personal insult. NO ONE on this board knows who you actually are. All we're going on is a persona on a message board that returns out of nowhere to share something that sounds like one of those rumors that spread like wildfire around the Internet with just enough truth to them to make them look somewhat plausible.

Everyone knows the Maloofs have been upset with Reggie lately. It's been in the papers and on the news. If Gavin did in fact make that comment, shame on him. If he didn't, shame on you.

Either way, again don't take this personally. I'd much rather see people be a little skeptical about things like this that cannot be proven than to blindly praise the emperor's new clothes, if you catch my drift.

you uploading a pic wont mean anything but you met the maloofs...thats great

unless you have a video with audio of him saying that i wont believe it hehe

Uh, actually didn't you say earlier in the comment that if Gavin did say the comment then shame on KingsEDH? From what Amory said.

At this point, this guy is in a no-win situation. Show the picture proof that he was there with Gavin and he's a untrustworthy blabbermouth, don't show the pictures and he's an even more untrustworthy liar.

I really think this has became way too big of a deal. Just lock the thread or something.

Here are the facts so far. The Palms does have an expensive suite with a basketball court in it, the Maloofs have been known to party, and........

(crickets chirping)

I take most everything posted on message boards with a grain of salt. I think I am like many other people in that respect. This has nothing to the OP whom I am assume to be a respectable person.

In the end, do we really know anymore than we did before. If true, we know that Gavin was upset with Reggie as a coach. I think we all knew that already. If the Kings lose a couple of more games (badly) and the Maloffs suddenly fire Reggie, are any of us surprised? I think not.

I think I actually would have been more interested in what else Gavin had to say about his life in general. What kind of Booze does he prefer? How well does he shoot the ball? Did he say anything about the new arena? How stressed out is he with the economy going down the drain. Last but not least, does he have any hops?

Maybe so, but that doesn't make the OP the victim, even if we accept your point of view; he put himself in said "no-win" situation by opening his mouth in the first place.

Maybe, although you're ignoring the sheer amount of people who have already assumed he is lying. If this were a perfect world, half of people would believe him and half wouldn't to match the likeliness of his story being true. The one-sided nature of people who have replied on here is good enough reason for him to irritated. Maybe he's not a victim, hell maybe he is lying, but either way I think we need to lay off this all a bit.

Do I hear keys rattling?

I'm not ignoring it, I just don't agree that it's in any way important. So what if more than "half the people" don't believe him? So what if it's one-sided? And, frankly, who cares if he's mad? This isn't Romper Room. Nobody has said anything in this thread that's broken any rules so, if just being disagreed with gives him a negative attitude, that's kinda just too bad.

#58
But would you play for him? On a personal note, I did, right up until he stole my TV. For purposes of example, think George Patton. Or the NBA version, Jerry Sloan.
I don't know him well enough, even with all the publicity and exposure he had over the years. I'd play my butt off for Sloan though. He's my idea of NBA general too. OTOH, I'd kill myself playing for Adelman, who I think I would like the most of all the current NBA coaches.

I am not disagreeing with your view, I'm just very suspicious of Theus and that's influencing my opinions in this thread.

these quotes are out of sequence (though in the same posting), but they obviously give the lie. you DO want people to believe you. personally, your original post seems plausible. i don't know if it's true or not but either way...i don't really care.
