Funny this should surface on the very day we were, once again, having an idle conversation, VF21, on WHY an assistant coach would be regulated to the second row, never allowed to speak, why the only players who seemed to be trying, at ALL, at this point, seem to be the ones who speak with her on the time outs.
There is NO defensive philosophy, the players genuinely do not know what is expected of them in any situation. It doesn't mean good defenders (Rondo, Koufos, Cousins, Willie etc) have suddenly become bad defenders, nor does it mean that good offensive players have suddenly forgotten howt o shoot.
This is a team sport. Even in High School ball, we learned to play to each others strengths, work together to hide weaknesses, adjust to the team we were playing. Our coaching staff would break down the things you can't, as a player in the heat of a game, see. We had each others back, because there was trust and respect. I can not, for the life of me, figure out what Karl is trying to do, what he wants his players to do. I can not even imagine trying to play under a non-system such as in place.
