Landry out for 4-5 months

Hey Vivek and Malone sorry I сant get this guy he costs too much.....um....u r fired Petey. If u think that's not at all possible u r in lala land.

We're working with less than perfect information. Sure, your theory is possible. But far less probable than my theory given everything we've heard. And given a basic understanding of job descriptions of an NBA front office. And Vivek. But sure, cling to your theory that Malone told Vivek and PDA that he needs to hire Landry at 4 years and $27M or else. And then PDA promptly went and did that because PDA was all about appeasing Malone.

Seriously?

some early rumors claimed mike malone requested that the kings sign carl landry, while more recent rumors claim that pete d'alessandro pushed hardest for the signing. more to the point, malone was the former head coach of the sacramento kings, and not the general manager charged with consummating player transactions. even if one were to hold malone responsible for the acquisition of carl landry, the signing represented a clear overpay, as no other reported teams were bidding on landry's services. that falls at PDA's feet regardless of which rumors one chooses to believe...
There were definitely report of strong interest from the Clippers!

Stauskas,Stauskas.Stauskas! Yah PDA has full control of personnel decisions,,,Seriously?

Well, there goes one piece of ammo that can't be traded. This just makes a revamped roster that can approach .500 ball that much more difficult.

I am not sure it it makes it worse that he should be back in October... to move him we'll have to play him.

The good news is he should be moveable after this season. With the skyrocketing cap, there ideally is a team who has someone under a pretty large contract but still wants to make a move for someone due a vary large pay day.

So let's say the guy who is about to make a large some of cash is going to cost someone 17-20 million, but they have to move someone on a multi year deal making a lot of money as is, they may dump him for an expiring. That player would be overpaid we'd get in return, but may be the necessary Sacramento premium price to pay.

Would be a Rudy Gay 2.0 sort of trade, but with the expiring Carl out.

The worst part of the Landry deal is they moved Robin Lopez in the Tyreke deal for nothing to clear cap space to sign Landry!

Let's make things clear this was a Malone move.

So it was all Malone but now you're implying it's vivek? Also you're postulating that we were bidding against other teams for Landry? Unless you have information no one else has, I don't see how you can come to these conclusions unless your name is Leslie.

I'm saying that nobody outside has any idea. And you are the one jumping to conclusions. I think its unfair to lay the blame on one person and one person only. Sorry but when there are so many cracks where does the blame lie.

Um, PDA was the GM after all. You think Malone was negotiating the contract during practice time or something?

4-5 months would still leave him available by roughly opening night.

Biggest thing is that this could make him even more difficult to move via trade, which is spiffy since we need his contract to swing anything major.

I already explained this.

I don't see anything but less lucrative. But we need to overpay they don't.

You usually don't hear the numbers for the team with the losing bid. I live in So.Cal and the rumor at the time was the Clippers were trying to sign Matt Barnes and Carl Landry, splitting the MLE.

The rumor here was the offer was between $2-4 million a year or about $3 mil per year, leaving them enough to sign Matt Barnes too.

The Kings signed him to 4 years $27mil, about double what he was probably offered from the Clippers

Ugh this dude man.

Talk about a poison contract.

Not sure if that's directed towards Landry as a player, but if it is, I don't see why we should point the vitriol at him. None of us here would ever tell someone who's hiring us to offer less. We gladly take the overpay. Almost every one of us. And obviously Landry didn't ask to injure himself. For us, it's some stats and talking points. For him, it's his body for the rest of his life. Nobody asks for that. He's proven to be a good player in his role. He's proven to be a relatively tough guy who does what he can for his team. If you stick him in the right role, he works well for you. Never an all star, never a guy who will carry you. But he's gotten his fair share of runs and momentum changers through a combo of talent and toughness/scrappiness.

I don't blame Landry at all. Dude was presented with a dream offer. We all sign on that dotted line. The fault lies completely on the front office. Completely.
