Landry is Doggin It

Kingster

Hall of Famer
Rough, rough. If you want to see a player make the most half-hearted ho-hum attempt at playing a game in the hopes of being traded, just watch Landry in the first few minutes of the Suns game. The guy doesn't even try to fake it. He has absolutely no shame whatsoever. After seeing his pitiful performance I'm really wondering whether he is the one on the block. If you watch him you'd think he either could care less about playing on the Kings, or he's on the take. So here are just a few of the "lowlights" at the very beginning of the game:

Tyreke takes outside shot; Landry, under the basket, makes half-hearted attempt at the rebound; Suns get the rebound; Landry just stands there, seems like he counts 1000, 1001, and then he lopes up the floor.

On a switch on the defensive end, Landry just watches Lopez and then gives him a half-hearted wave as Lopez gets the layup.

On another switch on the defensive end, Landry just waves to Jason Richardson as he goes by, then just stands there as the shot is put up, not making a step toward a defensive rebound.

On another switch, waves again at Nash, barely even acknowledging his presence.

This is unforgivable. It looks like because he's not the centerpiece of the offense, he's pouting, just saying to himself: "Screw it." What a disgrace. Maybe the Kings management can send him to Clippers and he can join Baron Davis on the sideline.

Yep, Landry sucks at guarding the pick and roll. Opposing teams have been putting him in pick and rolls all season. He and Casspi. It's not likely that he's dogging it though, because this is a contract year for him (ty shamsports).

Hopefully, Paul Westphal is playing him so much in order to up his trade value. He did get 20 points and 11 rebounds last night.

You do realize the your criticizing his best game of the year so far. 20 and 10 for the game. But hey, I do realize what your saying. His shots happened to be going in this game. He did grap a couple of tough rebounds, and fought with Cousins for another. Defensively he's just not very good. The last thing Cousins needs is to be on the floor with Landry. Sure way to get Cousins in foul trouble trying to help on Landrys man. Probably why Westphal has him on the floor with Dalembert.

Actually, Westphal has him on the floor also with Cousins...(see below). Stats against Phoenix have got to be the most meaningless of numbers. Just watch the first quarter if you have it on tape. Freaking ridiculous what he did (or didn't do) out there. There is no effort on the defensive end by him. He's mailing it in. It's not that that he can't do it; he just doesn't want to even try to do it. No doubt in my mind that he wants out of Sacto and is doing a passive-aggressive routine to get out.

Watching the tape, first Landry played with Dally, then he played with Cousins. When he played with Cousins he and Cousins do a "share" routine in which one is in the low post and the other near the top of the key. Once Landry had the ball near the top of the key and looked to me like Cousins had position in the paint with his man behind him. Landry ignores that. Shoots the 20 footer. Misses. Later, Cousins trades places with Landry, and he take a 23 footer. Misses. Cousins is probably thinking: Hey man, if you do your thing, I'm gonna do mine...

As an aside, Tyreke still dribbles too much. In fact, everybody except Jackson dribbles too much. Walton was so right in his comments. Perfect timing when Garcia was dribbling going nowhere and he gets it stolen. It was also timely that he pointed out how Tyreke jumps up in the air on his passes and lo and behold later in the game Tyreke throws it away for that very reason. Westphal knows this, as do his assistant coaches. They aren't dumb and blind, despite the comments to the contrary on this board. Throwing Dally and Cousins into the pool created big ripple effects on this team. We're going to see some trades in the not too distant future I do believe...

I wish I had a chance to watch the Kings broadcast. Looks like Walton stated the obvious, which Grant and Jerry tend to ignore if it puts us in a bad light.
