Hall of Famer
Well it is the last game of this hopefully soon to be forgotten season and the future is extremely uncertain. We almost made it trough. And since this is the last game thread at least for now - I want to thank You for reading and participating. It wasn't an easy season - that is for sure. I tried to keep it as entertaining as possible obviously in my own way but let's face it - the team is supposed to entertain and they miserably failed in any aspect possible. I hope that all of You have a good summer and that Kings also have a productive summer so one day we can look at this season as a turning point instead of a sinking point.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings almost managed to woss another game down the stretch but a still caring Bobby Jackson managed to convince us otherwise. So Kings are 33-48 and they will avoid 50 losses - unfortunately. Lottery wise - we are sharing 9th spot right now and best we can do is to share the 7th worst record but for that to happen - lot's of things need to go right in a season in which everything went wrong. All we can really do is lose a game against the Lakers at home - which sounds so wrong in so many ways.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When the schedule came out - I was very excited about all the possible scenarios and implications that this game could have. I was looking forward to the excitement, the atmosphere and everything else. One thing that never crossed my mind is that at this point of the season - us losing this game would benefit us the most. It is even more disappointing because of that. And I am - as disgusting as it sounds - going to watch the game tomorrow hoping that we will lose because I still like Kings much more than I dislike the Lakers who will lose in the first round winning no more than 1 game. I can't wait for it to be over.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last chance to evaluate this pathetic excuse of a team collectively and individually. This team has failed in every possible way. It couldn't win enough and it didn't lose enough. Except Kevin - the young players didn't get enough opportunity to develop. Most of the veterans regressed except Ron who couldn't keep it together off the court yet again. We didn't get more defensively oriented - we got worse. We downgraded in coaching department going form a master to a clown with computer skills. Finally, hearing Warriors and Lakers fans @ ARCO - it the last nail in the coffin.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's start with the owners and it is hard to be exact because we don't know for sure what is their doing and what is GP's doing. Overall I think that they are getting too involved in things that they aren't really very competent. I am sure that they are good businessmen but I don't know how much they know basketball. They will get a chance this summer to prove that they stand behind their words.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
GP - "In GP - we trust" - is not undisputed anymore. He has made some mistakes in the last couple years. He has drafted well and I am sure that one day Douby will be an okay player.. He hasn't made a major move since Webber was traded and that didn't end well. As far as I am concerned - he can restore his "magic" this summer by finding a way to make sure that Kenny, Mike, Brad and Ron play in other uniforms. Good luck with that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Musselman is next and there is so much that I would like to say about this clown but this is a family site.Saying that he was a mistake would be an understatement. Only thing worse than a year of Musselman would be 2 years of Musselman. Come on now - we have seen stranger things happen before. It is unlikely but not impossible. A cardinal rule has been broken here. "Never fix something that wasn't broken" We had Adelman and 8 winning season and 8 PO appearances and it wasn't enough. We asked for more when ther wasn't more to get. Now - we have nothing.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike Bibby - what can You say. Beyond disappointing season that did start with injuries but come on - give me a break. He might have been the worst NBA player on both ends of the floor in a group of players with his role and minutes. A good game now and then - is just not enough. Provided 0 leadership. He was overpaid when he was playing well. This is a travesty.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Ron Artest has been very good on court and it is hard to find many complaints other than his selfishness and poor decision making. He still needs to go because we can't handle going forward with him. He will do something stupid again and when he does I want him to wear someone elses's uniform. I said that I will not support Kings next season if he is still on the roster and I stand by it realizing that - who care - one fan more or less. It is important to me to be able to identify with the players at least to some degree and Ron Artest will never fit in it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Brad Miller - never got healthy and never found any rhythm. He could be usefull in a system in which he isn't required to carry the team in rebounding and provide inside presence. Since we might not be able to get rid of all of them - I would keep him because he can still contribute if healthy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
SAR - another seaso finished in April. What else is new ? SAR is cheap and could be a solid contributor off the bench again if he isn't required to be a main rebounder. He hasn't disappointed me because I didn't expect more from him. Should never again play a center - ever.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin Martin has arrived even though he faded a bit towards the end of the season which isn't uncommon. He would be a Pedja-like Robim to a Batman that we don't have. We can hope that he will continue to develop especially - defensively. Even we have a right to have a bright spot.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Corliss Williamson has had a great season and we should try to keep him if cheap. I was very happy for him because of his professional attitude. He has provided leadership as much as he could in his reduced role. I never really liked his style of play but I have a huge respect for him. And of course - whoever puts him to play center again - should be shot on sight.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
KT - needs to go desperately. His play, his attitude, his contract - they all suck. He was useless and when this quality of his was needed at the end - he wasn't there to help us lose. He probably broke the record for the most missed layups in the season.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Salmons did okay considering that the expectations were low. He isn't a backup PG despite all tries to make him one.He wasn't able to make big difference but he has most definitely at least met the expectations. For the future - he can be usefull but not as a major contributor. And he sucks as a power forward.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cisco had an up and down season before coming very strong towards the end of the season. Always high energy and most of the time - out of control. He has a good future as a solid role player but for a starting job - he needs more brain.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Price has don well considering the minutes. He has shown potential to be a backup PG in the future. He is also a FA at the end of the season. I would like to keep this kid a while longer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Williams - he needed to get more time and he is still very raw but as a backup with potential - he needs to be kept around. He will take time but that time might be very well spent.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Potapenko - he was too tall to ever be considered. He sucks but that is exactly what we needed in the last 2-3 weeks. Hope he gets a chance - somewhere else.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hart - You have to be very "special" to miss the post season twice in one season. Well Jason might just be that special. One of the worst players that played for the Kings since I have been following this team.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mo Taylor - biggest waste of money in a history of Western Civilization. I still can't get over the fact that he even started some games. Hard to find words to describe hi suckiness. He was so bad - I didn't know that he was suspended for substance abuse. Made Tony Massenburg look like Tim Duncan
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, thanks to Bobby - we got the lin in a really good game between 2 teams that had nothing to play for. Defense wasn't played at all. Hornets look like a team that has a bright future if they can stay healthy. We tried to win but came up alomst winning it which was the happy ending. Kinds played well once again. Bobby Jackson was - well you know...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME
Devin Brown won the TDM award for the night. Not the first time for him and probably not the last time either.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Lakers @ ARCO to finish the season. We have nothing to play for and they are playing for 7th or 8th PO spot which = first round exit - either way. I still think that they don't have more talent on their roster. They do however have a coach. We don't. We need a woss and they need a win. It isn't that simple because Muss will try to win it. I don't think that Lakers can beat us if Muss tries to win hard but I hope that he will finally rest 2-3 players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lakers suck. They always have and they always will - period. We missed a golden opportunity to put them out of the postseason but then again Clippers didn't object. Kobe has been great and he has to be again. Their front line will be difficult to handle. Turiaf will win the TDM. A woss here while not needed wouldn't be too tragic.

And I want to thank you, piksi. Your game thread introductions have brought a smile to our faces many times when we were sure there wasn't anything to smile about. You've made it possible for us to laugh at ourselves instead of searching for the rusty razor blades. Your game threads and Bricklayer's grades have, for the most part, been much more on target about the games than pretty much anything we find in the Bee. Major props!

I concur with everything VF21 said, piksi. You have a great off season and we'll look forward to seeing you next year (although I know you will stop in to say hello, especially around draft time). :)

I can honestly say that opening the game thread to read and realizing it was the last one of the year gave me the only real feeling of regret I have had regarding the season ending. I will really miss the game threads put out by piksi, the grade threads by Brick, and (not to be forgotten) the play-by-play threads by VF. A HUGE thank you to all three of you for bringing some of the highlights to an otherwise painful season as a Kings fan. Also a huge thanks to Jeremy who does the work behind the scenes to make this board run. You are all truely dedicated, and the many hours you spend making this board a great place to be are truely appreciated!! :)

I am going the game tomorrow. Like piksi, when I saw the final home game of the season was the Lakers, I was filled with excitement and anticipation at what this game would/could/should mean. Well, at the end of the season things aren't quite what I would have guessed, or hoped for, but I will go and cheer on my team! With a big apology to those who want us to lose for draft purposes, to me it will always be "BEAT LA!!!"

For the record, I would most certainly care, if you're not here next year. I echo above sentiments. I have always enjoyed your game threads, Piksi, but this year they have been especially helpful in getting through this miserable season. VF's PBP and Brick's grade threads are also fabulous. I appreciate that the three of you devote so much time to this board and our beloved Kings. And thank you to Jeremy for giving all of us this great place.

Have a wonderful off-season, Piksi. :)

piksi you are a rock star! thanks for all your hard and entertaining work this year. piksimist indeed. KF.com would not be the same without your fabulous game threads

oh and kings, normally i'd say beat LA, but i'm rooting for a loss because it could mean a better draft pick... so sorry to say. it's a hard choice for me... but i think it's better for the kings in the long run

either way... explative LA.....

Piksi, the hard work you have done and hopefully will continue in the future here has been be greatly appreciated.

I also really really want to say BEAT LA, but... I can't... nngh

So I'll just say this instead:

*BLEEP* LA!!!

Have a nice offseason dude, your game threads and bricklayer's grades have been the 2 things that got me through this season of torture. I'll miss reading this stuff for sure.

rofl@bleep la

Props to Piksi!

Great threads, probably the only thing entertaining about this season...May the next one be better!

BLEEP LA!

I hope that all of You have a good summer and that Kings also have a productive summer so one day we can look at this season as a turning point instead of a sinking point.

great optimism!

thanks for all of your work. the imaginary (or was it???) conversations between muss and the team were hyserical.

Thanks again, Piksi!!! While we usually are on opposite ends of the optimism/pessimism scale, I always love reading your intros. Sadly, today I have to agree with MOST, but not all, of what you said. I have a bit of a different outlook on a couple of players, but other than that, spot on analysis.

I could NEVER be happy about a loss to LA, but I can't say that I will be exactly upset if we do not win tonight. So, I will be watching and will be both happy and sad with a win or loss.

After tonight, I will be able to say, "Thank goodness that is over!"

DITTO. Thank you piksi.

Hell of a job Piksi, kings are not making the playoffs and so what a better way to end the season than a home win over the lakers......BEAT LA!! BEAT LA!!

this should put a smile on everyones face....except rick's.....

Thanks Piksi. At least you (as did other regulars on KF.com) had a good season. To some extent, crappy Kings play brought out the best in hard core fans here - for the most part.

Still, I urge you to rescind your promise of not being a Kings fan if Ron stays. Look at it this way, you were "here" before him and you will be "here" after he is long gone and been locked up in some asylum. Maybe you can go on strike, but quiting should not be an option. Besides, after the years of the abuse you dished out to other NBA teams, I don't think anyone will have you. ;)

I'm with you on this one.

GREAT job all season piksi. Can't wait to read them again in the fall....

I too would care. I hope you get your wish, so we won't lose out on these threads next season.

THANKS for all you do!

I don't post here in this forum all that much, but I read almost everyday. Thanks for the entertaining game threads piksi. :D

funny stuff all year. Made me laugh out loud at work and then have to try (with miserable results) to explain to non basketball fans what i was laughing about!!

THANKS!!

GO KINGS.
