Kobe ..... The Good Teammate???

I fail to see the problem

You don't see a problem with Kobe smacking one of his own teammates, because the teammate touched, or bumped into Kobe? I do, that's completely rude. You're on an NBA bench with chairs that are lined up closely, with rather large men sitting in them. Some touching is bound to happen.

I see Kobe being a little whiny B***H in that short clip.

was it because he touched his leg? i figured it to be more because vlad sucks on the court...
Either way, there are more mature ways to handle it. Of course, the word maturity doesn't exactly make Kobe pop up in my mind.

The only excusable thing I could think, is that maybe it was a reaction to something good happening on the floor?

Note that Vlad did not even blink or look at Kobe. Pretty obvious that you do not mess with Kobe. Kind of like not making eye contact with a predator. :p

Is somebody insecure about their manhood?

It had nothing to do with touching each other. That was from one of the cameras on the bench when Kobe was pissed at everyone because they were getting pounded. During the previous timeouts, he was throwing towels already.

The clip just shows Kobe taking it out on his teammate which is not what a leader does. If anything, kobe sucked himself also up to that point. The image of kobe being a good teammate up until the Boston series is just a product of the team winning. Once they start losing again he'll be back to the "Jerry Buss is an idiot" act.

I don't understand the uproar over this; this is a non-issue if I've ever seen one.

I hardly think this is lock-worthy but, seriously: I don't like Kobe Bryant, and I loathe the gd lakers, and I'm of the opinion that if you see this as some kind of evidence of what a terrible teammate Kobe Bryant is, you were desperate to find it. I mean, he hit his teammate in the ribs? Oh Noes~!

Let me say this is not to argue with you, but just about the matter of kobe. I don't know if you play ball or not. I play on weekends at the local gym. I know for a fact that if a team was getting killed and a guy just went ahead and smack his own teammate like that it would end up in a fight.

Everyone sucked and everyone played bad, I don't see why kobe gets the pass on doing that. As far as trying to find something to say kobe is a bad teammate, I don't need to. Its been well documented. He's publicly said enough about Jerry Buss, Kupchak, Bynum and the rest of the team.

Oh, I play ball... I just don't play ball with nineteen year-olds. Nobody that plays ball at the YMCA I play at would react violently to something like that; without seeing the entire thing in context, I'm not even convinced that he was actually "hitting" him, if you follow me.

Its a matter of respect. Every human being deserves it and just because kobe is a bigger star it doesn't make it ok. The gym that I play at is the Y. Whether someone is older doesn't make it any different when they hit someone. Its a game, you don't do that because you are losing. Probably most normal guys would have never done that in the first place so there would be no fight.

Can you imagine V-Rad hitting kobe like that and kobe just letting it go? ... truthfully

I don't consider it a matter of respect, because I don't consider what he did disrespectful. As I suggested before, I didn't see the incident live, and I will not evaluate it in a vacuum. He didn't punch the guy, he didn't slap him in the face... that's disrespectful.

It doesn't look any better or worse to me than when Garnett gets in Glen Davis' face or pushes Leon Powe in the back of the head after a play. I don't consider what Bryant did to be a sign of disregard or disrespect. I really don't think anything about it, either way. This isn't Rasheed Wallace throwing his towel in Sabonis' face; it's not Horry cursing out his teammates on the bench... it's not really anything.

And yes, age matters, at least to the degree that people my age and older are less inclined to assume that if a teammate jabs you in the side that it's somehow a sign of disrespect.

Just saying that older people will not do that is a generalization. There are plenty of old & immature people out there. I'm not sure which plays you are refering to of KG, but when players push/bump each other after a play to celebrate, its different from when you push someone because you are mad. 2 seperate situations that would net a different result.

You didn't answer if V-rad would have got away with it if he did that to kobe. I think we know the answer. Its just a matter of opinion right? Good day.

What do you mean "get away with it?" Are you suggesting that, if Radmanovic had done that to Bryant, that Bryant would have hit him in return? I'm going to have to call BS on that one.

Hey Peter do you think KG and MJ are good leaders and teammates because what they did far out weigh what Kobe did in the clip.

Just a few gems from MJ:

"He can't do anything with the ball. Don't give it to him." - Michael yelling at Paxson who passed the ball to Perdue

"You're an idiot. You've screwed up every play we ever ran. You're too stupid to even remember the plays. We ought to get rid of you." - Michael to Horace Grant

"They've got no idea what it's all about. The white guys, they work hard, but they don't have the talent. And the rest of them? Who knows what to expect? They're not good for much of anything."

"Your boy doesn't want to play. I'm tired of bailing his *** out." - Michael yelling at Jim Cleamons about Dennis Hopson

"He's causing me too many turnovers." - Michael on Cartwright's inability to catch

"I hate being out there with those garbagemen. They don't get you the ball."

"Why the hell don't you ever set a pick like that in a game?" - Michael yelling at Perdue after also hitting Perdue upside his head (led to the institution of the private curtain for practices)

i always find it funny that laker fans always post MJ quotes when people question Kobe (no offense hoopsfan). just find it very typical and completely unnecessary and irrelevent.

None taken. :)
Just pointing out that Kobe isn't the only one that's such a "good teammate". I don't know it's not relevent.
AleksanderN thought it was relevent enough to mention it.

I know ya'll dislike Kobe with a passion, but isn't it a bit much to throw him under the bus for a shove in the heat of a finals game, when others seem to be untouchable no matter what they say or do?

Oh fine. Try and throw logic into the discussion. Geez.

:p

I'm ready and able to throw anyone under the bus. Sometimes just because I'm having a bad day. Maybe Kobe was just having a bad day. ;):p

I don't agree with doing that, but it's not really that big of a deal. It's not like they were fighting or anything. The Rasheed-Sabonis incident was much worse imo. Can't find a link to the video right now

MJ he is not...

Had to do it...LOL
