Kobe: "Put me in the East and see what happens."

Asked what his MVP ballot would look like, Bryant says, "I'm not even thinking about that." But when somebody mentions that the Cleveland Cavaliers' James is a favorite because he's a near one-man team, Bryant, who was averaging 28.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists through Sunday, snaps, "Put me in the East and see what happens."

ummmm, wait. Haven't we already seen what Kobe can do as a one man team?


I like LBJ as a player soooooooo much more than Kobe.

But, maybe its just me............
 
I may like LBJ more as a persona, but not as a player. Kobe Bryant is brillant. So is LeBron, but Kobe is 30 and has seen and done it all, and as painful as it is to admit, is on his way to one of the Top 10 players in the history of the league.
 
I think the only knock on Lebron is that he's such a team player, that he looks to incorporate his team at the expense of doing what can be done to help the team, which he can do.

Kobe has the killer instinct and goes for it every chance he legitimately has. At one time I think Kobe was too much one sided, and at times didn't have a choice, because there was no one else. This year Kobe has incorporated his team more, but still doing what he does. If Kobe was in the East his numbers would probably be even higher, he is right.
 
Kobe might be right but he shouldn't be saying that the East makes LBJ better than he really is, which is what was implied there IMO. He's a good player and a smart guy but he can really be an arrogant jerk at (a lot of) times.
 
The players that were truly some of the greatest players to ever play the game have ALWAYS been somewhat arrogant. I think it's part of the personality makeup that allows someone to be that great.

Lebron has been aroogant
Kobe has been arrogant
Jordan had his moments of arrogance
Wilt Chamberlin was arrogant.

Think of some of the greatest players in all sports and a lot of them were arrogance. Can you say Joe Namath?

2 people I can think of that at least didn't come off arrogant were Montana and Rice. Doesn't mean they weren'
though.
 
I think LBJ, barring any career ending injures, is going to be recognized as a greater player than Kobe. LBJ makes his team better in ways Kobe does not. LBJ is still in his early 20s. The kid has already led his team to the Finals. Kobe has not made it out of the first round since Shaq was in town. As an individual player, Kobe is probably better, but basketball is a team sport so I think LBJ is better overall.

No, Jordan was never arrogant. There is a difference between being arrogant about you as a person and being arrogant about your game.

MJ knew he was the best player, and he let his game speak for itself.

Lebron is arrogant about himself - I actually think he would chose fame over basketball. That's where hs is arrogant.

LOL. Oh, just no way.

Jordan on his worst day was nowhere near as arrogant as Kobe Bean Bryant.

What?? Well, I guess he did make claims that Karl Malone hit on his wife...oh, wait that was Kobe. Then again, Jordan was responsible for getting the best player off his team..oh shoot, that was Kobe again. Ohh, but there was that one time where Jordan was trying to silence critics that he was a ball hog by passing every time he was given the ball....nope, that was also Kobe.

Like I said atleast Kobe did not punch his teammates. He atleast did not be little his own teammates in front of other players. How about Jordan's power struggles with management, from verbal attacks on the general manager to tantrums against his coach. It is funny how bad Jordan really was.

What Kobe did was nothing compared to what Jordan did to his teammates.
 
Kobe has an entire career of self-serving, egomaniacal behavior. But I don't expect you to admit otherwise, AleksandarN. One thing you've been most consistent about over the years is your blind admiration for Bryant no matter what.

Hey I am not denying that Kobe has a healthy ego. I just don't like people thinking Jordan was a saint either.

P.S. My "blind admiration" only matches your "blind hatred";):)

History has it that Bron needs at least 50 wins to win MVP. The media held that against Kobe at every step in 2006 and 07. Now Kobe sees numerous media suddenly forgetting all that when they argue Bron for MVP (and he does play in a conf w/ 2 teams that are serious title contenders, whether or not it's taboo to admit).

I'm with you. I think the media is making this into something it's not. I don't see ANY way Lebron could win MVP this year. They just want better ratings.

I think Kobe would achieve evil dictator status among Western fans if he had done some of the things Jordan did. It's like that old Richard Dawson Era Family Feud survey on the most hated men of all time and the first three answers were 1.Hitler, 2.Cosell, 3.Stalin.

And they spread it around too. (If not, Shaq and MJ would've won it 30 times). He'll get his, guaranteed.

Fair enough, but I at least give him credit for his abilities in playing the game. Always have. I just don't cut him any slack in the other stuff - and there's always been other stuff.
