knicks wanna trade malik rose

To what end? We have our own tweener forwards, thanks. Would hope and expect that we wouldn't be taking the Knicks tweener problems off of their hands too.

None of our tweener forwards have any toughness (save for perhaps Corliss). I wouldn't mind seeing him on our roster. The guy is as physical as they get.

the knicks belive that rose is worth too much. since they have quentin richardson and that other guy comming up in the sf positon they don't need rose. they believe they can fill in the pf a little better

I'm aware of why the Knicks want to move Rose -- I live here in NY remember?

Now why the Kings, a team awash in guys of the same general size and stature would want to add yet another one is the the thing I'm not getting. Or even to swap one of current ones for Malik. What do we gain? We need less of that type/size of player, not more.

it's not maliks size, it's his ability to get into the post and bang. everyone on our team is too soft. corliss tries, but he's not that effective. malik rose will go for the boards and chase the ball down. and you know he's gotta be a better low post defender than anyone we have

The only thing that might make me want the Kings to take Rose is that Isiah wants to give him away. So, if guys that Isiah brings in are bad then guys he wants to git rid of must not be bad.:D

No, the Knicks are more like a giant trash recycling system. A broken trash recycling system actually since its the same crap coming and going all the time.

Not sure where the idea that Malik is something special got started, but he's really not much better than Corliss, and not as good as KT. He's just a bench guy now fading into irrelevancy. Not really a great sign when Gregg Popovich and Larry Brown, two of the top three or so coaches in the league, give up on you in the space of a year.

I think I have an idea --- Malik used to give CWebb so much trouble in the post by just being physical with im and using his quickness to bother CWebb. Similar to the Najera phenomenon with CWebb, where guys who didn't have half the talent could somehow get into his head a little bit just by being overly physical. CWebb would invariably decide that if guys like that wanted to muscle up, fine with him, and he would promptly draw an offensive foul or two when Malik/Najera/Horry then flopped as the "big bully" ran over them.

Thing is, those guys didn't have much success against any other "premier" PFs --- that was just one of CWebb's weaknesses. But Kings' fans have an easy time recalling it because it was so frustrating to watch, and so may have fond memories of those players.

Rose is not a very good offensive player, in my opinion, so he would rarely touch the floor under Adelman's system... at least K9 can get into the system and get some minutes.

Interesting topic/thread ....

a little off the topic, but right now our defense doesn't seem to be the issue with our King's

It's a lack of energy/consistent play from the starting five .... and the VERY NON-PRODUCTIVE MINUTES from the players coming off the bench (less KT)

Agreed. I guess that my facetiousness of that comment didn't quite come through the computer screen. I think that anyone who thinks that Malik is something special is only remembering what he did a few years back during his stint in SA.

Agreed. I don't think we need/should go after Rose.

Isn't Mallik sort of like a Doug Christie caliber player. Not a stat highlighter, but gives you all the little things + Defense?

I think it is meaningless to add a tough guy in the bench....the Kings need a starter who can block shots and rebound....but not another muscle guy on the bench besides skinner and big nasty...
just my opinion..

Rose is a bad player with a bad contract, when the trade between SA and NY went down why do you think Charles Barkley said:

Isiah is building a championship team, too bad it's in san antonio.

Well, at least Rose, unlike Thomas, wouldn't whine like a girl over not starting; I'm not aware that he suffers from any delusions that he's a starter in the NBA.

Oh no, our defense is beyond pathetic too. Its just that right now we've actually got bigger problems that need to be addressed first. But gift from the scheduling gods tha Utah was aside, defenisvely we hae been even worse than I imagined (and my imagination was running OT this summer after Isaw what Petrie was going to go with). I'm hoping that more team cohension will help that aspect as well, although we'd have to be the Three Musketeers (All for one and one for all!) to even get ourselves back to merely being bad defensively rather than pathetic.

You know, here is something interesting I noticed when the Kings and Knicks played.

Kenny Thomas was a good 2-3 inches taller than Malik. I never noticed he was that undersized before. Malik's cool though, he's dirty, I like him. But, alas, we are truly over run with "tweener" forwards.

Malik's 6'5". Maybe even 6'4". He's strong as an ox, but the lack of height has always been the big problem there.
