Wouldn't it be nice to bring 'em home, 'specially Beno? I know it's never gonna happen, so this thread is just for us to reminisce about the good old days with Beno.

Actually, I wouldn't mind having Beno back on the team. If you could get him for the right price, why not? Now Artest is a different story. I'm sure Carmichael Dave would love to have him back, but he's not the player he used to be. Might be good entertainment if you could get him for the league minimum.

Acy/Evans/Cousins and Artest lol, no team would dare to throw a hard foul on us.

Well it would make sense except that PDA pretty much explicitly stated that he wanted his rooks to get big minutes down the stretch so that he wouldn't look like such a dumbass for taking them.

I think we may have entered the classic subtle tanking portion of the season now, something never truly acknowledged or played our under the Petrie regime. But sounds like we are going to play the kids, and if oh, the kids being bottom 20% in the league in PER means we lose more games and get a better pick? Oh darn!

It's not the way the season turned out for you, is it? I should say us but I have always been at odds with you wishing we would have played our youngsters earlier and taken our lumps. I never thought the trade for Gay would lead to instant results as it eliminated our bench in the process. That can change. Heck, I would have started Jimmer until it got too painful. I don't have a clue why they drafted Ray and never used him. I guess there was always the hope we could win enough to be the 3rd worst in the Western Conference.

I know you fear Cuz will lose patience but I think his allegiance is safe. He needs to see a draft of Embiid or Exum to feel hope. I need the draft of Embiid or Exum to feel hope. :( I know there are no guarantees with draft picks but as it is, we are guaranteed to suck. We need to take a shot at leaving suckatude behind, at least in a year or two.

If I represented Cousins I would take him away from us losers in 16 month's time without major improvement. We'd have until next offseason to put together a team that was obviously going to win in 15-16, or I'd start applying the screws. And even next year if we lost a ton and my guy missed the All Star Game again because of it, you would start hearing rumbling right then and there. Tick tock.

At least we're actually playing the youngsters. One of the main +'s for Malone has been his rotations. He's had a few hiccups, but for the most part, you know can guess a player's minutes for that night. Never went away from Ben, never jerked around IT, Cuz, Gay, in the starting 5.

So as his representative, you would do what was best for him? How novel. ;)

I'm getting very tired of losing also and although I have no representative, I am getting very close to ceasing to watch. It's not interesting watching IT do his IT thing with absolutely no improvement in our w/l record. I suspect he doesn't give a crap as his next check is (understandably) numero uno on his mind. And his pursuit of being in the mini hall of fame.

I agree but I'd start applying the pressure this off season. Not sure I'd go Kevin Love and threaten to leave publicly yet but I'd give a warning that I didn't sign an extension to rebuild for two seasons. I think our FO needs to hear that before the draft and before free agency this summer to make sure their strategy is not one of a continued rebuild around youngsters.

This is partly why I have doubts about our front office. I really don't think they specifically intended to rebuild around youngster. It's just that their veteran acquisitions either didn't choose to play for us or haven't all worked out. There doesn't seem to be any thoughtful strategy about finding pieces that fit and now that its all falling apart, they are falling back on the youngster plan.

How long does Vivek settle for this from either Malone or PDA? He's got a big stake in this thing working by opening night at the new arena.

We saw the team stats. Malone won't be winning coach of the year.

And PDA hasn't exactly given Malone much of a chance giving him little to work with. Although this hierarchical 3 headed thing we have going has to fall a little on the coach. The mclemore pick thus far has been a big swing and miss. If he was truly the best player they saw in the draft, then oh my that was a bad draft. Or they don't have a clue. 6 teams passed on Ben. He was our #1.

This hasn't moved much in the right direction at the end of the day. And with almost 30 to go, it feels completely over, doesn't it? I've bailed on the end of seasons before (for example, we had toney Douglas?). You can only have so much hope.

Conjure up some more faith because I'm confident team construction is still in process. Anything we know about the team is trumped by ownership, FO and coach. I don't believe they are stupid or have their buried in the sand. PS: Don't sign Beno or Artest.

Couldn't agree more. Beno has looked fat and slow for a couple seasons now.

I believe a lot will center around this offseason. If Rudy commits long term you will see role players being sought out. If Rudy opts to go elsewhere then you have a nice little insurance with Derek Williams and a draft pick that will be very high. You will have expirings with terry, outlaw, Williams , gay, Reggie.

2 of these 4 will not be here next year. Landry, JT, Williams, terry. Then like I said you have the gay situation. Kings will prob ask him to commit long term like 4 years 48 mil. If he says know then you know where you stand with him and you seek trade for that huge expiring deal. You also have sign and trade deals that can be worked with Isaiah, jimmer and gay. By 2015 maybe sooner we will be ready for a push

What part of "This season isn't going to be about winning" confused some of you? Maybe I'm just weird, but this season has turned out exactly like I expected. Therefore, no disappointment on my part. I certainly wish it could have been different, but I've stated several times that I thought it would take around three seasons to turn this around. You don't go in the wrong direction for 6 or 7 years, and rebuild into a winning team in one year. I think Ranadive, PDA, and Malone all know that. Therefore, PDA and Malone aren't going anywhere. Now two years from now, maybe, if things aren't looking positive by then.

They said they were going to change the culture of the team, and an argument could be made that there has been some change. The team has played hard almost every game. The rotations have been pretty consistent for the most part. Most players on the team seem to know their role. But there's also another way to change the culture of a team, and that's to rid yourself of almost every player that was part of the past culture. And that appears to be one of their goals. It's highly possible that by the beginning of next season, if they don't resign Thomas, that Cousins will be the only player left from the Petrie era. I'm sure they will do everything they can to move JT and possibly Outlaw in the off season.

For those not wanting to rebuild with young players, you better get used to the new NBA. The new CBA is intended to be more restrictive on player movement. And if a player is going to move, his options are going to be fewer when it comes to going to a top contender. Not impossible, but you'll have to pay through the nose in some cases, and there's no guarantee of a championship for your money. Just ask the Nets and the Knicks. That's why its now harder to acquire extra first round picks. Teams see those picks as a chance to get a good player (hopefully) at a very cheap price for 4 years. If you know what your doing, it works. And if you don't know what your doing, well, good luck!

How do I think PDA has done so far? Hard to say without seeing the finished product, or at least the blueprints. Its sort of like looking at the foundation of a house and the beginning of a couple walls, and trying to envision what the house will look like. I like the Gay trade, which I think worked out better than they thought it would. The Williams trade is still in the judging stage, but he's had a few good moments that show promise for the future. Acy has been a nice surprise. The Landry signing is still a mystery to me, but maybe whatever their grand plan was for him got screwed up with his injury. He has shown signs of his old self the last couple of games. Not sure about this last trade. It looks like they were willing to take anything in order to move Thornton. It's possible that they look at Terry and Evans as roster filler for next season, along with bringing some veteran experience to the team. Certainly brought some toughness with Evans.

So at the moment, I'm not too critical of what they've done. But I do expect some major changes in the next off season, and not just changes to make changes. I'm not expecting, nor do I want to hear the comment, "This season isn't going to be about winning" again. Starting next season and every season thereafter, everything should all be about winning. No more free passes!

The only part of "this season isn't about winning" is that they played as if it WAS about winning. I think what was said from moment to moment was confusing to the fan. Doesn't make it wrong and maybe I should quit listening to the FO and just try to enjoy this team as best I can. It's not easy.
