Great post JB.
Anyone who was able to attend games at the old arco knows why Mr. Lukenbill built Arco2 the way he did.
I still have the SI article about the old arco and how insane it was. Every visiting team marvelled at how loud and crazy the atmosphere was. 10,333 people blew that roof off that place. Arco 2 was built to duplicate that atmosphere.
I went to a lot of games in the old warehous. They had an applause thermometer in the middle of the arena over the floor. The floor under the seats was wood and everyone would stomp their feet to make noise. Another thing I seem to remember about the building of ARCO is that he had to have it built by a certain date. So along with it being built on the cheap, it was also a rush job.
Not sure if this is old news but kj issued a statement tonight criticizing the malloofs for not getting the documents to icon. Similar tone to the press conference. I agree I'm not sure what the point of the criticizing is this late in the game. It certainitly isn't to get them to stay.

It is tied with the Palace at Auburn Hills for the oldest non-renovated building in the NBA. Oracle and MSG are older, but have been extensively renovated.
I actually believe this based on the track record of the Maloofs being pretty upfront about what they are doing (until now). They owe us nothing except to turn over the papers Monday (I thought it was Tuesday but .......). It's a couple days off in a period of 11 years. It's not worth hysteria.
