KingsFans Official Fantasy Basketball 2007

I'm in if there a spot for my fantastic fantasy skills. I've missed out in the past with some work obligations, but I should be able to stay mostly active this year... PM the info if there's a spot for the BrickSlayer.

Draft time is only four days away... we've got 14 teams now, plus one more person who wants in.

That means we have an odd number of people and we need one more player. If you'd like to join please post or send me a PM. I changed the title of the thread to indicate this, if a mod could make the change show up for me I'd appreciate it.

Looks like we'll stick with weekly lineup changes. We've got a good group right now, including at least seven players who have played in this league at least four times. We also have six people who played in the 2001 league that are back or still around six years later.

Draft is Saturday 4:15 pm Pacific time. My wife's planning a party at around that time, so I might be in and out of the draft, but I don't draft well enough for that to have any effect on my chances of winning. Hope to see you all there!

Need 1, or 3, or even 5. ;)

Come on lurkers! I'll promise to even be nice and let you draft Elton Brand if you join! :D

Ok, we got one more, so now either 2 or 4 (we can change the thread title back now, too... it worked quickly :D).

One person has had the password but hasn't signed up a team yet. Another person asked in but I was waiting for an odd number of teams before letting him in.

So now we're good to go unless two more people want in or unless somebody with the password decides not to join.

I'm looking forward to this. Oden will be a stud this year.

Can I have a clarification on the rules?

Supposedly we must set our team weekly and that line up set on Monday stands the whole week. The settings though allow for a change every day. Will that every day option remain there so I can change to my bench players at any time or are we locked in by our Monday lineup?

Maybe it means we can switch our players in and out each day but cannot use free agents or people acquired in trade.

Not even sure that made sense, actually but somebody give a shot at figuring out what I mean. :(

Guano is good!

Edits can me made anytime during the week but they won't come into effect until the following week.

You can fiddle with your lineups any time you want. However, normally the deadline to make changes to your lineup for the upcoming week is Sunday night (each "week" is Mon-Sun).

I know because I hate this... I often come in to work Monday morning and see that I forgot to set my lineup and it's too late.

This first week seems a little different, I can still set my lineup today. However, in future weeks I'm pretty sure the deadline will be Sunday Night.

In the Yahoo UI, you can select different dates. You can only change the lineups when Monday is selected. When you select a non-Monday, the lineup editing feature is disabled.

I usually open two tabs, one set to Tuesday and clicked on Opponents to show the opponents for Tue - Sun, and the other on Monday so I can see Monday's opponents and change the lineup.

I strongly prefer weekly changes as it allows people to stray away from their computer for days at a time and I plan an early spring vacation out of the country.

I just went through a practice routine of setting up a league and this setting has to do with roster changes. Roster changes can be made daily and are effective the next day. In other words, I'm not thrilled. It IS daily and not weekly.

The only other time I played in KingsFans league was 2001 and we made changes weekly. I can understand the frustration of having a player injured on Mondays and no way to change him for a week but also some of us have a life away from the internet - might be difficult to believe. While daily is more "real," weekly changes cause no predictable disadvantage to anyone.

I'll be out of the country on a remote Philippines island with no internet for 2-3 weeks. Doing it weekly limits the competitive "hit" i will take by being gone.

(BTW, why can't I upload an animated avatar?) I'm not outside the size limits and I really need my eyes to function properly. I get an error message when trying to upload my animated version.)

This is kinda old, but on Yahoo you CAN theoretically set up your league playlist as far into the future as you want to in the daily format. You'd just set up your roster for the next 21 days and leave it alone. That's what I do for my roto leagues...the only problem is that if there are injuries or someone on the team is underperforming, you wouldn't be able to drop and pick up. That's the same risk you'd have with the weekly format though.

Difference is that in the daily format the guy who can/does change daily to account for injuries or whatnot has a much larger edge in that regard than in weekly. Its not always decisive -- I've won daily leagues before playing them pretty much like weeklies (as far as just using Sunday to set up rosters for the next week). But its obviously a much larger factor than in the weeklies.

Hi folks. Just an FYI - I voted against the currently proposed trade that basically sends LeBron James to the 4th place team for Andre Iguodala.

Our system is set up to have the league vote on trades, so please review this one and if you also think it is unfair then you can vote against it. If it does not get enough vetoes then it will go through.

Thanks!

Well, it looks like enough people voted against it that it got vetoed. The deadline for trades is apparently today.

Unfortunately my team sucks so bad that even a LeBron for Iguodala trade wouldn't help me. My mini-run in the top 3 looks to be over. :(

I normally don't like to ***** about fantasy trades, but this particular stinker of a trade was nothing but a a very obviously and ridiculously corrupt attempt to hijack the playoffs on the part of the two traders who effected the trade, and so I don't fell to bad saying that it deserves to be flushed down the toilet. Next time, you might want to think up a cheap end-of-season trade that's a little less obviously fixed, guys...

I'm the commissioner. We have a league vote rule for trade vetoes, and the league voted. All is well. :)

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Okay. The trade was vetoed? Sorry... I didn't see that part. My bad.

:o

Congratulations to piksi for his big win in this league.

And this wasn't some pansy squeaker of a victory like some past champions have eked out. The TonyDelkMemorials stormed through the playoffs with 7-2 victories over all three opponents. Well done, sir.

Thank You.

I had a bad regular season and have no clue how I got in the upper bracket but one PO started - all my guys played well. Especially JRich and AI. It was once again fun being a part of the league. Hope I can defend the title
