Friday (July 13th) 7pm vs Charlotte, Cox Pavilion

Saturday (July 14th) 5pm vs Lakers, Cox Pavilion

Monday (July 16th) 3:30pm vs Rockets, Thomas & Mack Arena

Wednesday (July 18th) 3:30pm vs Toronto, Thomas & Mack Arena

Thursday (July 19th) 3:30pm vs Boston, Thomas & Mack Arena

The summer league runs through Sunday, 22 July. For a complete listing of all teams and games go to this link:

The complete Kings Summer League roster can be found at this link:

Adult ticket prices are $22/day for all games that day and $12/day for kids 4-12. If you drive, parking at the arenas is free but be sure to bring your windshield reflectors as typical daytime temps there are 100-110!

Driving up from LA area is around 5 hours depending on where you live. From San Diego figure 5-1/2 hr. Driving down from Sacramento is around 7 hours coming down I-5 then over Hwy 58 at Bakersfield to Barstow then up Hwy-15 to Las Vegas. In July coming up over Hwy-80 to Reno and down 395 is a fabulous and beautiful trip that I have done a bunch of times. Take all day (sun is up 11+ hours then) and enjoy as you drive by Mt. Whitney on the way south.

Have found a bunch of hotels/motels within 1.5 miles of Thomas & Mack center at $35-$45 for the dates of 16-20 July. Choosing a motel or small hotel works much better if you plan to drive as in and out is much easier. If you pick a casino hotel then suggest you take the Tropicana or Paradise busses, routes 201 and 108 respectively. The following link I used for some great deals all under $50/night:

STAY TUNED FOLKS. THERE IS FUN TO BE HAD THIS SUMMER.

Any questions, feel free to contact me by email directly (cruzdude@me.com) or via KingsFans message.

I'd like to go for the first few days, Can't stay the whole time. I'll have to decide whether to drive or fly. Actually, from Sacramento, it's better to take 99, than 5. Taking I-5 just takes you farther west first. Highway 99 is roughly 8 1/2 to 9 hours, depending on speed. You are right that 395 is beautiful. It's actually a little shorter in mileage than 99, but takes about 45 minutes to an hour longer, because of the mountain driving. It would be cooler, though, a good part of the way. :)

If I fly (more relaxing), then I'd like to be able to walk to the arenas. If I drive, then it doesn't matter so much. I can't spend a ton, so I'll be looking for deals, if I decide to go.

Walking distance from the arena is limited considering typical mid-day July temperatures typically 105-110 deg F and evenings at 9pm are still daylight and 90+ deg. The Hyatt Place is closest decent hotel we've stayed at a few years back. 21 day advance purchase room rates for Fri and Sat nights to see first two games (not recommended) were $107.20. Bajaden and I plan to stay a mile up Paradise road at Terribles Casino and Hotel for $34 a night and it is on bus route to and from arena.

West from the arena on Tropicana Ave are several spots (Motel 6, Tropicana, Hooters, etc) under $45 that are 1-1/4 miles. There is also a bus that runs east-west on Tropicana that drops you across the street from the arena. Highly recommended.

Reason first game or two are not recommended by yours truly is the players tend to be too excited and wound up to play good ball and it takes them a game or two to settle down and play as they can. The Wed-Thu games will be the best ones for a short stay. Bajaden and I are going Monday thru Thursday to watch games 3, 4 and 5.

Check on-line for "cheap hotels las vegas" then filter listings byPrice (under $45), 2 or 3 stars, and east of the strip for the dates you want. Arena is at Tropicana and Paradise Road on campus of UNLV. The Strip is 1-1/2 miles west of the arena and not to be done walking in mid-July. Just ask Bajaden who tried and nearly died, for real back in 2010. If you fly, take a bus.

Thanks for the good tips, Cruzdude. It would just save me some vacation days, if part of the time was over a weekend. I'll have to think about everything.

I have another trip planned this summer to go up to Eureka, visit my brother and sister-in-law, while enjoying some nice cool, coastal weather. :)

JULY 17, 2012. Two Kings summer league games remaining wednesday and thursday.

Ticket prices went WAY UP this summer, to $28 for a daily ticket for all games. Las Vegas hidden fees I'm told! Arrgghhhh. Still all games in Cox Pavilion have been more crowded than inprevious years. Thomas & Mack is so big for summer games that crowds get swallowed up in there.

So until next year, signing off this particular thread. Adios.
