Here at Kingsfans.com we have a tradition of doing something to pass the time as TDOS drags along. Last year, we had the fmous "Shortest NBA Book Title" competition. I was asked if we were going to have anything similar. So, here it is...

Kingsfans.com best ever NBA team - Position by position, we'll create the overall best possible NBA teams. We'll do nominations for each position first, including who we think would be the best possible bench or role players. Once that is done, we'll start the preliminary voting, narrowing the field until there are 10 players left for each position. At that point, we'll vote for the top four. Once the top four in each position have been determined, we can mix/match them for the best possible combinations of teams.

SMALL FORWARD - Please list up to five players you think should be nominated for the position of small forward on the first ever Kingsfans.com best-ever NBA team. You don't need to justify why you think they should be in a certain order, or whether you think they should be on a first team, second team, etc. This is just to get a list of nominees for the initial round of voting.

To get things started, I'll nominee these fine players:

Larry Bird
Kevin Garnett

Lebron could turn out to be the best ever, right now he is the best SF. With a few rings he would be considered the best. Larry Bird is also one of the greatest to ever play the game.

Once again, this is just for nominations. We aren't going to get to voting for a while.

'04 peja.... im such a kings homer, lol... but you guys took all the ones i would pick....

Could always add:

Alex English
Mark Aguirre
Bernard King
Adrian Dantley

all the 80's super-scorers at that position, although I don't see how you could vote them over Bird

This goes for every other thread linked to this one about finding the best ever All-NBA team.

We are to a point where we have milked all the possible LEGIT candidates on a REAL All-NBA Team so might as well go ahead with the voting.

No hating on guys like Artest, Bernard King, Peja, English, and even the ones I mentionned (Monroe, Baylor) etc... but there is no possible logical and realistic way that you can even make an argument about them being the best Small Forward in the history of the NBA. So, IMO, we've milked all of the possible candidates in every thread, for every position, quite a while ago. We are now just throwing in names that have absolutely no shot of being considered as the best of all-time, let alone winning the category.

Well truth be told there is no legitimate reason for the list to get beyond 2: Bird, who has always been the nearly unanimous choice, or LeBron, based on future expectations. No older guy is going to beat Bird, no up and comer is so insanely out there as LeBron.

Furthermore there would only be one name on the OG list. Two on the PG list (Magic and Oscar with maybe a couple of spare votes for the purists in Stockton). PF would be a little more open wiht the recent Duncanists, but probably still a predictable Mailamn vote. Center would be the only spot where the result could really be in doubt with 3 or 4 guys getting major votes.

But I think traditionally you throw the other names in just for giggles anyway.

Oh yeah -- one more possible: Dream Teamer Chris Mullin
