Hall of Famer
Finally a game that won't be close;)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Another game for the ages took place in Seattle on January 31st 2004 in which Kings prevailes winning 110-103 to improve to 33-12 for the season. It was Brad Miller night in the Key arena but it was the team effort that made the difference at the end. Pedja was also great and Mike & Vlade pick and role sealed the deal. RA did a great job in the last mminutes. As mentioned - Brad was a monster with 28/17/3/1, Pedja added 29/5/1/1, DC had 15/2a while holding Ray Allen to 5-21 from the field, Vlade had 13/4/4. Bobby had 11/2/3 off the bench.

When Mike Bibby and Vlade Divac run the pick-and-roll, opponents have to pick their poison. Divac turned sharp passes from Bibby into two-handed dunks on consecutive possessions, lifting the Sacramento Kings to a 110-103 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics that completed a successful road trip.In the finale of a six-game trip, the King squandered a 16-point
second-half lead and found themselves in a 100-100 tie after Rashard lewis drilled a 3-pointer with 3:05 to play. Bibby dribbled left as he rubbed off a pick from Divac, then zipped a pass between defenders that Divac caught in stride and hammered home.

"Coach (Rick Adelman) drew up a couple of plays at the end of the game that really made the game," said Divac, who scored 13 points. "Mike threw great passes."

"Coach just tried it one time and it worked, so we tried to keep going to it," said Bibby, who had five assists.

"We made some great plays down the stretch," Adelman said. "Mike made some great decisions and Vlade got those big dunks."

"This trip was good," Divac said. "We really grew as a team from the first half of the season. Defensively, we talk now and we help each other. Down the stretch, a couple of stops have really made these games."

"To finish this six-game trip with three wins like this is great," Adelman added. "The guys really turned it around. They really had an attitude the last three games."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings had to work hard to extend the losing streak to 3 games and to drop to 17-26 which is the seventh best record in the lottery swepastakes. Kings also drop to 5-15 on the road and we lost 7 out of the last 10 games. To finish January and the 4 game road trip - Kings will play Wolves which seams like a sure thing right now. Can it get worse - sure it can - we can tourn it around.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Eric Musselman is the perfect coach to get this job done. 10 years from now his hiring might turn out to be best thing that happened to this franchise. If there is a man who can get us "the pick" - it is him. In fact - Muss is so talented that he would lead the Western Conference allstar team to a .500 record which might win him the Atlantic division. Now once we get that pick - Muss would have outlived his usefulness and he should be replaced. Just imagine Oden being on inactive list because he "didn't earn" the minutes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
And that is why we can't risk firing him. Anyine else on his planet has a better chance of turning this around and costing us a potentially a great player in the draft. It is a great publicity for Muss too. He might become extremely popular coach every time when the draft is potentially leaded. Hell that might even get him into hall of fame.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I will probably regret saying this but the overtime loss to the Lakers was a pivotal point in our hopefully successful rebuilding process. We were game below .500 and had a legitimate chance to get some momentum and to be in the dog fight for the 8th PO spot till the end of the season. We found the way to lose and it set the tone. We couldn't recover and it snowballed on us. Maybe that loss ends up being the best thing that could have happened.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings are still playing hard, competing and trying to win. They suck, they are not coached and they don't play smart on either side of the court. They do play hard. So what ? Should we really be happy about it. Playing hard should be a given. If playing hard would be the only requirement everyone would be an NBA player. Playing hard just doesn't cut it. You have to perform night in and out. If You can't someone eventually will replace You. The "old" Kings didn't play this hard but they won and won and won. It is all about talent because effort can come frome anyone and everyone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So Kevin and Corliss are exhibiting a negative example of actually playing well these days. It deserves a harsh punishment. How dare - are thet to play well and make the rest of the losers look bad damiging their fragile self esteem. They almost cost us a loss again. Clearly a behaviour detremental for the team.
On the other hand - they are only 2 players who actually deserve to wear that jersey. While 2 isn't enough it is still better than nothing
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coaches corner - I could just copy and paste the one from the last game because Kings got killed on the boards 47-25. Still no PT for Williams. While failing to rebund - those stooges wearing # 52,9,3 managed to hold Gasol to 14-17 drom the field . All 3 of them had one less rebound together than Lawrence Roberts. Who the hell is Lawrence Roberts anyways ? The plays at the end of the game were drawn in the "painting by numbers" book. That was pathetic
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
We lost to Grizzlies after leading the whole game but we should feel like winners in the bigger picture. They killed ud on the glass, we held them to 59% shooting and if it wasn't for their 20 turnovers they would have killed us. We allowed 41 points in the 4th quarter. That was way too much for the Grizzies to handle so they had no choice but to lose by winning this game
------------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

Yet again Chucky Atkings wins the TDM. The former Cibona Zagreb star just like to play against bthe kings peremiter defense because it is on the stealth mode. It is so secret that even the players weren't allowed to be involved
Brad, SAR and KT can share LW-VC award the same way that they shared the abuse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wolves are next - not that it matters. We are expected t lose and I don't even see it being close. Wolves are around .500 and have a chance to be in the POs for a round. They only have one player worth mentioning which is one more that we do. We have nothing to play for and should cash in on that. Only thing that is left to do here is to find an excuse not to watch that game.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - making opponents look good is noy only his job but also his hobby
Brad - get a rebound dude
Ron - still keeping it toghether
Kevin - just keep puting them up kid
Corliss - well done
------------------------------------------------------------
rest - why bother ?
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - keep it up !
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Kg will hurt us and when he is done - won't be much left for Mike James to finish us off. TDM will go to Foye. LW_VC award won't change the ownes after this game. Madsen will be annoying. It is hard to se Wolves not winning this.

By George, I think he's got it!!!

:p

I dont like calling the team Sucks, they might but the name stands for something special. Thats what is in front of the jersey and thats what fans are associated with. :(

they don't desreveto be called Kings and calling them Lakers would be too insulting - so Sucks fit just fine right now.

Well I dont have a problem with the lakers name ;) They seem to be doing just fine.

I think kings fans have set higher and unnecessary expectations that they are giving up just in a year. If at all someone has to be blamed it is the management and owners first.

Losing or winning can be contagious and now the team seems to have caught that losing virus, but maybe thats by design to get a better draft pick.

Anyways there are only a few organizations that are in the run for a ring for an extended period of time and who do it consistently. Look at chicago and how long they took to becoming respectable again. Spurs will go through that soon I guess but their salary is not that big so I think it wont happen until TD is not able to play at a high level every night

can you evene IMAGINE Brad Miller getting 17 rebounds in a game this season?

(much less 28 points and 17 rebounds)

hell, we are lookng UP if Miller+SAR+KT together get close to 17 rebounds ina game

You know what - if we could actually get an opponent to miss some more and give Brad his Adelman minutes back - maybe he could get lucky once in a while

I have to agree that calling the Kings "Sucks" is over the edge, IMHO. We might not be happy with their performance and we might actually be hoping it continues long enough to garner that coveted lottery pick, but they're still the Kings. I've rooted from them since the very beginning and I'll continue to do so.

It really bothers me to see that kind of thing because I like to think our members are a bit above the norm. The nickname is demeaning and it sets a tone that, again IMHO, brings the board down to a level I don't think we want to sink to...

I just found the "who the hell is Lawrence Roberts" part hilarious. As a side note chalk good old Lawrence's rebounds to another career high at the hands of the Kings.

new euphemism for being owned by Hornets and Bobcats

LOL, I guess you really want to get there I suppose.

A team just in this decade has

Won 3 rings and Made it to the finals once

would really be called doing just fine. Offcourse they are owned by hornets and bobcats, the 2002 championsip lakers were swept by the sonics. But hey if thats what you makes you go , then go ahead and enjoy the victories over the hornets and the bobcats.

I just thought this should be repeated. Thanks, VF.

Completely agreed. Honestly, many Kings fans dont know how bad it can get...Jerry as announcer is bad, but as a coach...yikes. them were slim days.

I agree completely. Our team is not playing well, that is a given. We are disappointed, frustrated, and let down, that after many years in the playoffs we are supposed to all of a sudden be rooting for a good draft pick. BUT, they are OUR team, and it's a STAGE! It's just one moment in time. For gosh sake's look at parenting! There are moments, hours, and (YIKES!) occasionally days where my children are not at their best. Where I cring at things they say or do, and wonder when they will again shine to the point where I am proud to claim them as my own. When we go through these moments, my husband & I look at eachother and say thank goodness this is just a stage! Well, this is a stage folks. Our team is neither who they were, or who they are going to be, but they are OUR team, and all we can do is support them. Hey, they can lose to one of the worst teams in the NBA, but at least they showed up, put on their uniforms, and played the game. At this point, it's all we can ask.

Yes, I, like the rest of you, eagerly await the moment where the Kings shine again, and I can say loudly & proudly to everyone that "that is MY team". But until then, I will be content to cheer for them, support them, and admit to those that ask, "yep, that is MY team." and DANG it, I still love them! :)

Anybody have a way to get an annoying Whitney Houston song out of your head?

I just wish the NBA was more like the NFL in relation to the draft. Worst team gets the first pick. What a kick in the jewels it would be if the kings tanked the rest of the season, ended up being the worst team in the league, and failed to secure the 1st or 2nd pick. But then again that would be "Kings luck".

Oh, I remember those years all too well. I have to say this, though...Eric Musselman is looking more and more like the new version of Garry St. Jean with every passing day. With that 'Positive Mental Attitude', and the same mediocre/losing record.

I agree with this...whatever happened to the forum rule about not saying things that are blatantly demeaning to the players. Making an intelligent post about why the Kings sucks is one thing, but calling them the Sucks in an ongoing game thread is another. That is not to say that we shouldn't make jokes...hell, even I laughed at the Sucks vs. Sucklies thread title. But to carry it on and permanently refer to them as the "Sucks" just seems to be well out of line.

As VF pointed out, this fan board has always been different than other boards - more intelligent and far more classy. It would be foolish for us to forget that.

Memphis and Boston have commanding leads on us, and Philly will be hard to catch now that they've dumped their superstar. Realistically, we're probably looking at 4th, which is fine.

I like the lottery, if we went by the NFL sort of system, I think you'd be seeing 8 or 10 teams blatantly tanking their brains out this year, and that wouldn't be much fun to watch.
