Kings franchise history most points in regular-season game by a player

1. DeAaron Fox 60 pts (Loss) 11/15/2024 Wolves 130 Kings 126
2. Jack Twyman 59 pts (Win) 1/15/1960 Royals 122 Lakers 118
3. DeMarcus Cousins 56 pts (Loss) 1/25/2016 Hornets 129 Kings 128
3. Oscar Robertson 56 pts (Win) 12/18/1964 Royals 111 Lakers 107
4. DeMarcus Cousins 55 pts (Win) 12/20/2016 Kings 126 Blazers 121

The two most concerning things for me is the defensive scheme on threes and our inability to make our own threes. Out of those two, our game plan for defending threes is by far the most concerning thing. I mean I understand it can be hard to contest every 3, but the opposing team is literally so wide open they are making s’mores while they wait for the ball. I don’t know who is responsible for this decision, but it needs to end pronto. It’s bad enough we suck at shooting, giving away the easiest threes in history on top of that will only lead to disaster.
They need to rearrange the deck chairs and put Doug Christie in charge of the defense. Have Luke go back to whatever he did last season

We really should have finished it off when Fox poked the ball out and Keegan got the steal with 1:51 left. We had the ball and were up 4. If we score there or didn’t allow an and one to Ant we likely walk away with this one.
Yah that was the one where Keegan gets the steal, passes it to Domas, who passes it out to Trey. I’m thinking it’s 16 secs on the shot clock, go find Fox. Instead the coldest guy on our team shots the ball. He bricks a 3 wide left, and then Randle gets the and-1 off Trey too

That bogus late foul call given to Edwards — who ran into Trey Lyles — was one of several crap calls by the officials allowing this game to even get to OT.

Sorry, per usual, the KINGS get jobbed at HOME. Why is it almost every other team gets favorable “home court” calls but the KINGS rarely ever do?

It’s so freaking tiring.

Kevin needs to make his shots and Keon needs to start taking his shots.

I'm not convinced that the Kings couldn't find a 3&D SG in the GLeague who can come in and hit open shots. Outside of Fox, we were 6 of 27 for 22%. 3pt shooting continues to be a nightmare. Our "shooters" have to be some of the most inconsistent bunch in the NBA. It feels like every single game when we need to a hit wide open 3, it goes sideways. But when the opposing team needs to a hit a wide open 3, it's automatic.

Don't think we can win without shooters.

Only caught the game halfway through the 3rd quarter. Did we use up a challenge?

One sliver lining is Fox has shot 40 percent or better from 3 in 6 of his last 9 games and the last three in a row. If he is starting to find his shot and Domas is hitting them and Deebo is too that’s a good start in getting our shooting where it needs to be. Now the question is, what adjustments will we make to the 3 point defense? When will a drastic change to the philosophy hafr to take place?

Whatever it is, cannot stick with the status quo. -8 on 3PM and allowed 40.8% 3pt. We lost by 4 in OT.

This season 3PM differential and corresponding w/L

-8 (Loss by 4 in OT)
+2 (Win 23)
-12 (Loss by 20)
-7 (Win by 9)
-11 (Loss by 9)
Even (Win by 15)
- 5 (Win by 1)
-7 (Loss by 3 in OT)
-8 (Win by 7)
-6 (Win by 17)
+10 (Win by 13)
+1 (Loss by 4)
-9 (Loss by 2)

Total: -60 3PM, (180 points)

W-L: 7-6. +43 point differential

The Kings somehow have a positive W-L and a positive point differential DESPITE scoring 180 less points on threes than our opponents this season (13.8 PPG). This is literally the only thing keeping the Kings from being a top 6 West team; figure out the 3pt defense, figure out anybody who can hit a damn shot.

remember that Huerter said in an interview that their scheme is to take away the middle and force it out to the 3 point line. After watching enough of this, I believe him. It's also clear that it's a ridiculous strategy for this team.

How about just stick to your man wherever he is on the floor. Why don't we start there for a change. Sometimes the easy answer is looking you right in the face

I really want to understand this. What NBA player do they think will continually miss wide open corner threes? Especially against us smh

Never saw a good replay on that, but that was bunk right? Looked like Lyles was fouled if anything there.

the Warriors have 7 games with 40 percent from 3. The have had more threes made than their opponents in all but 3 games. Granted that team is really built to shoot but they are defending well too

I think he would also need to build up his ball skills too. Klay gets brought up, but Klay used to help lead some of his 2nd units in his earlier days. Keegan's lack of ball handling fools no one. Teams just play him close and force him to pass the ball out or take a contested jumper.

Keegan at his best is probably an elite 3&D player who can lock down 1-3 (with some 4s). But the elite shooting hasn't been there since his rookie year.

I'm ok with his ceiling being a top tier role player in the league, but I'm not ok with him shooting 30% from 3pt.
And Klay was the type of player that was never really a true "go to" guy either. Yeah, he had far more off the dribble skills though. Same with Peja. There are steps and if Keegan had those handles he'd be close. A player can average 20 plus a game, but whether or not that player is a true "go to" or even a 2nd/3rd option is a totally different tier. Peja was probably the closest of those 3 in terms of overall skill to being that.

Anyone can see that now for sure. Brown isn't the first coach to really ride that too. I think it was Luke Walton before, prior to really harping on that box and 1 like a madman. Gee, Warriors connections? Seeing a coincidence.

You’re focused on this after the fact, knowing we lost.

But none of the stats you posted would have mattered had the game been officiated better late Q4. The KINGS should have won in regulation.

You choose to point to 3 pt disparities while I’ll focus on the officials who made those disparities matter when they shouldn’t have.

I mean, I've sort of just accepted we get a crap whistle every game because of our jersey. Domas especially gets called by the rule book unlike any star in basketball and has to get punched in the face to get a foul call.

We can't control the crap refs. We can control us getting decimated by 3s ,on both ends, every game
