in all honesty the thing that probably hurt the Kings the most tonight was randomly starting Alex Len despite him failing to show us that he is capable of playing rotation minutes yet this year. The Kings were -14 in the nine minutes he played tonight and that honestly might be better than the eye test would indicate. The spacing was horrendous because neither Domas or Len had any experience playing off of each other on either end

Especially when starting the 2nd half looked to be "the nail in the coffin", horrible start, MB took quite long to call a time out (unlike those Popovich ones he used to take less than a minute in the game) and the whole momentum shifted. Len with Sabonis on the lineup seemed totally disoriented, had only 1 rebound and the rest of the times he was trying just to box out Gobert or Randle not going for the ball himself. Since there was a talk in the past about Sabonis playing better at "4", today that "experiment" was disastrous and it was the main factor that led us to lose, not even the 3s and not even the refs. Domas didn't perform well with Valanciunas in Lithuania NT either when both together in the lineup, the offense doesn't "function" so well and in defense one of them had to guard Randle that wasn't effective either.
I would like to see MB putting it on himself for the lose just like Luka did last night and Spo the night before. I think MB is the one to praise for the resurrection of the Kings, but he is not such a good "tactician", and I see him quite often seeking help from the assistants when things don't go as planned.
BTW i am not starting a "fire Mike Brown" campaign or anything.

Ant was absolutely unstoppable and I think he gets credit for a few nuts buckets in clutch time that were well-defended. But yeah giving him his flowers aside that play was super frustrating as well as a few sequences of really not running offense at all late in those most critical possessions

To be fair the Kings were missing half of their clutch time playbook this game (Pass the ball to Deebo) and had to use the second half every single time (pass the ball to De’Aaron) in addition to the standard “crap pants” option.

He wasn't himself when coming back, got the ball close to the basket 2-3 times but it was obvious he didnt feel comfortable (despite making I think 3 baskets after returning from injury). In general he was quite efficient in attack hitting 3 or 4 mid jumpers that was his weak spot last season.

Fox would have had 81 tonight with those special and 1’s Ant Edwards and the other stars get. He can’t even get that on his own home court

Huerter was wide open in the corner and Keegan didn't pass it to him. Wound up with a terrible deep 3 from Lyles instead. They probably walk away with the W if Keegan hit Huerter.
Ya there was one distinct play where Len was in the corner 3 and Gobert literally turned his back to him and stayed in the paint. Just an awful lineup that probably cost us the game. Replace those minutes with Keon, we probably win this in regulation

He could have kicked it to Huerter, but I think he saw Sabonis at the 3pt line thinking he was gonna wind down the clock. I actually think Sabonis had the best look of them all. But we went with the worst option on the court

Yep that's what I was thinking too. Took the opportunity to run the clock down instead of getting the best shot in the moment. Somewhat risky to take a shot that early in the shot clock but it was definitely the best shot they had on that possession by a landslide.

What kills me is we didn’t wind down the clock by much and ended taking a bad shot. I think Sabonis was expecting a pass back from Trey, and do some DHO action.

The Wolves repeatedly drove the baseline in the first half and third quarter, oftentimes by Connelly. The Kings had three guys guarding the paint to prevent these baseline drives. They failed every single time to disrupt any passes to wide open Timberwolves 3 point shooters. They were totally impotent in this regard. The Kings didn't have the length to tip, block, intercept or alter any of the passes by the Wolves on these baseline drives. The Wolves, on the other hand, played much the same defense on Kings' baseline drives. The only problem was that the Wolves had Gobert in the paint with his awesome length to block and disrupt the baseline. Because the Kings defense was broken from the start the Wolves got a 20 point lead and tremendous confidence. Of course the valiant comeback arising from the desperation of a 20+ point deficit came afterwards, but we've seen countless times how rare it is that the comeback team has enough gas to finish the deal.

Will you be in favor of firing Brown, if this goes on this season and we don't get an improved end result?
It was just this past summer that many were saying it was crazy not to extend and give him a raise. Some of us wanted to see the final season of his first contract, before considering that.
No. He's safe this season, but if we regress and/or don't make a 7 game playoff series, I'd give him one more additional year to turn it around.

That's more patience than I'm willing to have at this point with this roster, to go through 2 seasons of disappointment before considering a change.
If he doesn't find a way to create a better defensive approach this season, I'll be ready for someone new going into next

if they make that move, they better be SURE the hypothetical new person can do better. 16 years of futility, 3 years of stability and then back to the unknown is a scary thought.
I always think back to when my Hawkeyes fired Tom Davis. His teams were always competitive but could never get much done in the tourney. They let him go to bring in Steve Alford and many other coaches who all failed before Fran steadied the ship.
There is a lot riding on this season for Monte, Brown and Fox. A second round appearance probably gives us a couple more years of stability. Anything less than that could bring one or more big changes.

Major changes always include some risk. However, to get better and not just remain the same, you usually have to take some risks.
I won't be OK with this team remaining a fringe playoff team for this season and next. Would rather take a risk after this season.

Len and Sabonis not functioning well together after playing on the same time for 4 years is 100% on the coaching staff. They should have tested it more in preseason or at very least in practice (doesn't look like they did) ... It is ridiculous the best set they can come up with is sticking Len in the corner while Sabonis runs dribble hand-offs. It's laughable really. I'm a firm believer that pairing can be effective but they need to actually run things that make sense. Double picks at the top & both roll, or 1 in dunker's spot. Or Len do dribble hand offs & Sabonis in corner since he's the better shooter. Or 1 just facilitates up top - And the other sets down screens for shooters to get open. There's so may plays where they can be effective w/ 2 bigs. That pairing can dominate the offensive glass too but they can't do that if 1 is just chilling in the corner.
