[Game] Kings vs. Raptors, 1/8/2021 7pm PST, 10pm EST

Except with this small unit, with Bagley at the 5 you have some height at the 5 and still stay athletic
That and you know, Bagley is one of your main parts moving into the future and his minutes went to players that won't be here next year likely.

The issue with these trick lineups by Walton is rarely and actually never do they ever indicate a transition into some formative identity. They are literally just moves of desperation to get from point A to B so he can then go back to HIS preference.

Winning >>>> Losing, but I really want Luke to do something to get himself fired.
3rd quarter awaits, haha. Nurse is an up and down thinker himself but he's shown the willingness to adapt at times. I will have to say, for the first time that I can remember Luke forced the other team to matchup to him with the super duper smalls. Haliburton and Fox were the impossible to deal with's in it to. He's gone super small before but they had unreal quickness, playmaking, and length with them rather than the usual Cojo at SG.

ESPN box score just added a Haliburton 3 and says the score is 77-71.

I missed the first 15 minutes of game time, did he have a three waved off or is this a mistake?

as always it feels like the kings are winning this game despite Luke doing Luke things
I'm usually not on bagging on the coaches at this level, but their primary influence lies on rotations. At my level(s), it's mostly been skill development and conceptual basics. I was also there at the nascency of A10 "excellence", so I do understand the need to develop at the college level.

That said, Walton is bumfuzzling me with rotations. We live in a totally different era where rookies (aside from Haliburton) need more coaching on fundamental concepts, both physical and strategic. You just can't out talent anyone in the NBA. Especially if your "talent" is athleticism.

This is a long winded explanation to say that yes, the Kings are succeeding in spite of Luke, but also, the Kings did Bagley a disservice by not developing him earlier via the G league, or making him unfriend his dad on social media.

It's lame they took away the 3....i mean it's within the game. If you missed the call while the gaming is going on...you shouldn't be able to take away points. They should be able to only question if it's a 2 or 3 pts score....not taking it away.

It has to be frustrating for his main cogs that the only time he puts them on the floor in the combination that puts them at 100% capacity talent wise is when the big lineup put them in a hole already. Such BS.

if i knew how to make this a "flash poll", i would

but i don't.

still, when push comes to shove

(other than a small ball lineup)

in general/tonight

which guards would you like to see at the end?

The obsession with switching on PnR defense leaguewide boggles my mind. It's like guarding every player as if they're Steph Curry.
You have to switch today. The problem with Luke is he also helps off the 3 in the process and/or switches while playing big. Switching is rotating man to man defense, stick with it or give up the exact shots teams want spotting up.
