No need to get sensitive. Davis looked limp like undercooked bacon after Cousins dunked on him. I can 100% guarantee that every team in the league would rather have to game plan for Anthony Davis than Demarcus Cousins.

Does anyone else think that just about everyone, including people on this site, are underestimating the Kings? George Karl with this roster? Its probably the best roster he has ever had.

Those Seattle teams were pretty talented. I like this roster, but I don't think they are as talented as his Seattle teams.

Yeah I'm not so sure about that.

Yeah I'm not so sure about that.

I have to agree, Karl's 1995–96 team, which had a franchise best 64–18 record and made it to the NBA Finals only to lose to the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls in six games had exceptional talent. I just do not think we have that kind of talent, certainly much better than what we are used to seeing but (as much as I would like to see it happen) I can't imagine the Kings being that good this year.

... I don't think that was the part he was saying he wasn't sure about.

Part of me is glad that we still seem to have quite a bit to work on. My expectations aren't quite the same right now, leaving room for plenty of pleasant surprised

Cousins is a lot more talented offensively than Anthony Davis is. He's a load to deal with, while Anthony gets a lot of lobs and garbage buckets. The comparison is a joke, as great as AD is overall

I don't want to get into the AD or Cuz debate, but to get these kind of garbage buckets and lobs is a talent per se. And in todays NBA this talent is extremely valuable. Cuz most likely will never be able to get so many easy buckets just by running the floor and rolling to the basket. Cuz and AD are entirely different and both are great in their own ways. Still it's debatable that AD might be the better fit for todays NBA with it's offense mostly centered around PG's and wings, where the PF/C position is mainly in a catch&finish and run the floor type of role.

Not being sensitive. I loved it. But that dunk didn't change the game, the pelican's lead expanded after that. And for limp, undercooked, bacon, Davis sure responded with fire. It was only when the Kings' Team took away his perimeter game that his dominance over this game evaporated. The Pelicans won that first quarter with the dunk, the Kings won the last three.

The game plan for DMC is simple -- get into his head to try and make him lose control of his emotions and subsequently start playing out of control. If he ever learned to keep his negative emotions in check he could be Hall of Famer.

psst...he's going to be a HOFer, health permitting

basically no player who has ever put up his statlines has ever missed

At the end of the day if our main issue from pre season is Boogies play, then we are in good shape. Karl is not an idiot, he will get the best out of this team.

If our worries in pre season was over reliance on Boogie, than we should be worried. I view it as we have a team that no longer needs Cuz to dominate every second of every minute he is out there to compete. Karl is building the base, unleashing the boogie monster is the easiest and most obvious card he has in his hand.

Sounds like Karl is taking the shackles off the boogie monster in the coming days:

“We have two or three things defensively, two or three things offensively (to work on),” Karl said. “We don’t have a lot of offense in.”

Karl, however, does not plan to keep either of his top scorers camped out on the perimeter.

“I have a lot of post-up game, (and) I think Rudy and Cuz deserve better offenses,” Karl said.

(Wonder if Karl and staff are reading some of our posts?)

If two-thirds of us posters see the "misuse" of Cuz this preseason I'm sure that Karl and his coaching staff are well aware of it. It in good hands. So far in his career Cuz has been a one- man show on offense and has done very well. To get n the team mode he needed to change his game a bit. This preseason imo has been an attempt to help that adjustment occur. I hope it works. I think it will because Cuz and coach have got it together and the supporting cast necessary to make it work seems to be in place. We'll see.

Awesome.

So I guess it was just preseason fooling around.

Karl is going to have to adjust his offense for Cuz, it might take some games, but it sounds like he knows it has to be done and is willing to do so.

I always take these sorts of comments with a large block of salt (just like the "player X has added a three point shot to his game" or "player Z gained 15 lbs of muscle over the summer) so I'll believe it when I see it. But it's certainly better to hear Karl say that there will be a lot more post-ups than the opposite.

I sure hope preseason was just so he doesn't give away any of his sets he has in mind and just wanted to experiment and not risk getting anybody injured....at least that's what I'm hoping for deep down. We shall see how it goes versus LA.

Pre season was just building the base like I said. How we will play in general and when guys like Cuz and Rudy are sitting. Its not hard to add some post action to an offense. Cuz and Rudy post action is something Karl used last season and are carss he already knew he had in his hand.

I believe cousins can definitely get easy buckets that way. We just need more players willing to assist him and doing so, and Rondo is one heck
of a start.

Well aquiring Rondo was indeed a first step to get more easy baskets for Cuz. But he will never be able to do the things AD does, while AD will never be able to do the things Cuz does.
Both are higly skilled big man, but have completely different body types. And AD is much more suited to leak out in transition and to outquick and outjump opponents for lobs and easy rolls to the basket than Cuz.
From my point of view Cuz clearly has the edge on Davis when it comes to passing, creating offense, overpowering opponents and carving out space in the paint.
Davis is at his best in a finishing role with strong guards to create looks for him. Cuz is able to dominate a game all by himself and is not so reliant on his guards.
This is why I'm still skeptical about the way Rondo and Cuz were playing together in the preseason.
I don't think the solution can be to turn Cuz into a mere finisher for Rondo.
Rondo needs to find ways to be beneficial for the team without the ball in his hands, like f.e. Tony Allen in Memphis, to give Cuz opportunities to handle the ball himself and to create offense by himself.
A proper balance between Rondo's and Cuz's playmaking with Rudy, Ben and Willie in a finishing role will be a decent way going forwards to the Kings.
