Kings vs Nets

In rewinding it. Brad was wide open 4 feet behind Spencer. Hawes was to close to beno. Pitiful execution is all it was.

It's not Reggies fault, there are 7 other coaches out there helping him and they all did their job. The players can't follow through. We don't have a Kobe, Lebron, Melo, Arenas, Iverson to throw it to in the clutch, and thats pretty much our problem. We need to trade Salmons and Miller for a guy like that, because as far as I am concerned theres a small chance that another 8-10 pick is gonna find us that guy. And that was most certainly not the play Reggie drew up, no one in their right mind would draw up that play. His play was to have Beno drive it on the inside and score a lay in or kick it out to the corner for a wide open shot.

Ok, fire all of em.
Anyone can see that the last play of the 4th tonight and the last play of the 4th the other night against Portland was a ****ing joke. They're not even getting a god damn shot off! How embarrassing is that?..

yeah then we can take an undersized PF that looks great in college but will have to face 7 footers every night. I'd rather have the 6th pick so somebody else gets that guy. Like Miami did last year.

Once again, how is Reggie responsible for guys choking at the line?

I'm guessing your question is rhetoric, because the answer to that question is obvious. I'll do you a favor and just not answer it either way.

What I do know a coach is responsible for is late-game substitutions, and late-game plays. Both were horrendous in this game. Actually, they've been bad all season.

We've been involved in plenty of close games this year already and the only once (the PHX game) did we get a good shot at the end of the game. Even then the shot was by Douby.

I'm telling you guys, changing coaches in the middle of a season would only make things worse. Look at the Raiders. What we need is a trade for someone who can execute with a minute or left less, or at least make some damned free throws.

Do you honestly think Reggie drew it up like this.. Beno drive to within 6 feet of the basket then kick it back 3 feet to a wide open Hawes. But spencer don't shoot it you pass it over 1 guys head to bobby jackson who is 32 feet out????

Do you really thnk that??

EXACTLY. Nets defense broke down whatever play was called. It appeared Beno wanted to (and did) drive inside to get what would have been his 11th assist on the night by getting it to a Kings big down low but they were all blanketed. Hawes drifted back out to receive the pass but was not in great position to jack it up. Then there was little left except Bjax on the fading clock. I do agree with another poster who said that maybe better to have all the youngsters on the floor at that point so that a Bjax would not seem to be an obvious go to.

reggie is doing a good job getting thisbteam to fight but not to finish. What ever happened to the saying "fight to the finish?" :(

I was only looking at a play-by-play in Yahoo.
Those last 30 seconds plays during the 4th quarter and OT were just ridiculous.
Sure, everyone should respect the vets. But if their not playing well, Reggie should learn to give the respect to other guys.
NBA players are not in the league by luck or any friendly connections. They are there because they can play and have played a lot of crucial games in their life. Damn Reggie, stop sleeping with Moore, Salmons, and Bobby.

I hate how Kayte and Koz keep saying that we are "learning" from these losses. I'm not denying that their are things to take from these type of games, but the fact is, from what ive seen, we aren't learning ****.

Haha, completely true. Every game is unforced turnovers leading to getting blown out, or unforced turnovers leading to a close game where we get a terrible shot as the clock winds down.

we are learning. we are learing that we don't need games to come down to the wire and that we need Martin and Cisco back. How many of you know that both of those guys would have been in the game in these situations. I would have been Beno, Kevin, Cisco, Salmons, and Miller.

Yeah, i hear you. Damn its gonna be nice when we can see that lineup on the floor again.

And all of that doesn't matter if the team is still in a position to win but chokes at the line. Despite some subs that may be criticized, the team still could have won if the players didn't choke. Seriously where is the perspective here? The Kings are without their best player, their 6th man, and the team is staying competitive against the Pistons, Suns, Lakers, and Spurs. How quickly some forget Mussleman and how the Kings were never competitive.

That play call, I think, was in direct response to the public comments made by a Maloof about playing the young guys. And like you said, he had a good look anyway.

Is Reggie perfect? Nope. I hate to see Moore and Miller in when Spencer or JT have played better. I don't like to see Donte play well and not get the minutes he deserves. But I also know Reggie isn't a bad coach, and some of the things that are going wrong for this team aren't his fault. It's not his fault that the team is turning the ball over too much. It's not his fault if the guys can't hit their FT's. It's not his fault he doesn't have a healthy roster. This team wasn't going to win that many games this season anyway, so when they do struggle, as expected, he's the one to blame? I don't think all the blame goes on his shoulders, and I don't want to see a coach fired because of that, only to see a worse coach take over.

missed the game but hey spencer had his second 6 block game =o and Salmons trade value incresing ^_^

Too bad JT was in foul trouble from the looks of it with 4 fouls in 13 minutes.

whats the purpose in taking ppl out for foul trouble when you are not going to put them back in anyway. Hell you get 6 if you want to play Mikki instead at least let him get all 6 instead of Mikki getting 4 as well.

ahh to hell with it. now that I will blame Theus for. Missed shot, not his fault. not letting the kids grow. all his fault.

Very frustrating loss...this is a team that the Kings could and should have beaten.

We're really starting to rack up the close losses, aren't we? Hope the tide can change soon with a healthy, "good" Cisco, and the return of Kmart.

What's really disheartening is: next year's lottery is shaping up to be weak, weak, weak...

What would be Kings record IF Kev an Cisco had been here all season? I'm guessing at absolute worst 8-9 and at best around 10-7. And if Muss had been coach - like 2-15, but at least better than OKCity. Just wait 'til Coach Theus has his full roster to get down with. I suppose naysayer class will get on him about winning too many games and risking higher draft pick - hilarious!!

wow.... hawes with 15/9 and 6 blocks...... he's becoming a pretty good player...

Pretty angry right now. So, I'm trying to compose myself. First. It was a terrible coaching job tonight. This is the first time that I've ever said anything about Reggie's game coaching, but there were more mistakes made that I could shake a stick at.

The oxymoron of the night came from Jerry Reynolds when Mikkie came into the game in overtime for Hawes ( Please explain that one for me ) and Jerry said, Moore coming in for Hawes for defense.

Please explain this one for me. 4 minutes left in the first half and Thompson is reinserted into the game. He grabs a rebound, drives the length of the floor and makes a nice bounce pass to Hawes for a score. Timeout called by the other team, and Thompson is removed from the game.

Around 17 seconds left in the game and NJ has the ball. Were up by three. By the time they get set were down to around 8 seconds. Why don't we just foul them and send them to the line. Last time I checked you can't score three points shooting two freethrows.

When was the last time, when the game was on the line with only seconds left, that we drew up a play that actually looked like we drew up a play.

There is no way we should have lost this game. It probably doesn't matter in the larger scheme of things. Were probably not going anywhere anyway. But I'm laying this one at Reggie's feet. What was it Joe Maloff wanted? An identity. A resemblence of a plan. You tell me you saw that from Reggie tonight, and dinner is on me.

Very well said. Ever since Reggie has been hired, not once have I said this was Reggie's fault...until tonight. It was an awful coaching job.

Again you cant blame it all on the coaching staff

the reason we suck in defending is because we dont have DECENT defenders.. some of them are so scared of being owned inside that they need double team which opens up the shooters..

these are the times im wishing we could trade salmons for bowen

the 2 things that would work for us there are..

we have a defensive player to teach those guys how to play D
we dont have to worry about bowens accidental foot landing on one of our players

spurs need offense badly we need defense badly win win

When you have a 3 point lead with 8 seconds left and you do something that stupid, you absolutely can lay it on the coaching staff, i agree we dont play defense and that hurts our chances, but I mean come on, I think everyone in that arena tonight would have told you to foul right there. Everyone except the coaching staff that is

i said cant blame it ALL on them they have a hand on that too.... i just know that we seriously need some defensive presence in here.... we have too much offense IMO

judging brad miller? im pretty sure he might be out rebounded for a missed free throw and the game would still be in a dead lock...

the coaching staff didnt tell miller to throw a fit so he can get a T :P

for the record he did have a good game though

these guys should try full court press... i know and i have seen it been done here where i am in college and it really suffocates the offense...

This is exactly the kind of game that you don't want to have. These are the kind of games that will split this team apart. Everyones making mistakes or not performing, and that eventually leads to finger pointing.

Even Theus got snipy in the post game interviews. And, the next time one of the vets tries to tell one of the rookies something, I can see the rookie thinking 'to hell with you, your a bigger screw up than me'.

Theus has to start playing whoever performs the best, and forget about giving vets more respect than they deserve. And, if Beno leaves a hot 3 pt shooter to try and defend a center in the post, then Theus needs to sit him until he figures out what his responsiblities are. And, that goes for everyone. This kinder and more understanding Theus is fine for the public, but it's time to take the kid gloves off behind closed doors. He can't allow players to continue making the same mistakes game after game after game. If he does, don't expect the next coach to do it.

Actually, what Miller did was inexcusable. But it came in overtime. The game was lost in the last 30 seconds of regulation. But that aside, can anyone explain to me why, in the final couple of defensive sets, you take out Hawes, who has 6 blocked shots and 9 rebounds, and is the energizer bunny out there, and put in Mikkie Moore, who stands and watches Harris drive in for an uncontested layup.

As for the full court press, they did use it tonight, and caused a turnover at least once. College and the NBA are entirely different however. It can be a useful tool, but you have to pick your spots. A good pt guard ( And Harris falls into that catagory ) can burn you out of a press. Most times resulting in an easy layup.

No one is saying this loss was all Reggie's fault. Just some people are saying that this game showed many of his glaring problems. For many of us, as was posted, it was our first time really coming to terms with it.

You people saying Reggie had nothing to do with it are just as off-based as someone who thinks Reggie had everything to do with it. Try to not think those of us on the other side as being so black and white.

I don't care about the win or the loss. I just know some bright young talent got benched tonight so we could assert our dominance over a team worse than we are. Are we rebuilding or what?

i know one false move in a full court and its an easy mismatch for the opponent but when used well damn it suffocates its been the bread and butter of of my schools team but then again college and NBA are different...

the game itself is a reflection of how good the young ones are.. hawes especially.... i think its only a matter of time till he gets the starting nod.. and Brad gets the bench minutes..

well see how much will change when cisco and martin comes back thompson probably hit that rookie wall come on man! gotta bounce back! tommy gun ran outta bullets already?
