i said cant blame it ALL on them they have a hand on that too.... i just know that we seriously need some defensive presence in here.... we have too much offense IMO

judging brad miller? im pretty sure he might be out rebounded for a missed free throw and the game would still be in a dead lock...

the coaching staff didnt tell miller to throw a fit so he can get a T :P

for the record he did have a good game though

these guys should try full court press... i know and i have seen it been done here where i am in college and it really suffocates the offense...

woah you said too much offense?

thats what we need offense without martin and garcia we don't have that much offense the only pure offensive guy out there is salmons.

the reason we suck in defending is because we dont have DECENT defenders.. some of them are so scared of being owned inside that they need double team which opens up the shooters..

Did Reggie look happy after Harris hit that 3? Did it look like his defensive plans were executed? Hell no. He was in a rage yelling at guys after that play. As Adelman said, if you want a defensive team, get defensive players. Oh, and the Rockets are one of the top defensive teams in the league. Nobody here knows what is said in the huddle. Reggie could be trying to get these guys to defend the 3, but they don't execute, much like Bobby's defense on Harris's 3 and Hawes's foul.

As I stated earlier, why didn't they just foul Harris. At worst we come away with a one point lead and the ball with 6 seconds left. Look, I've defended Reggie in the past. But last night I didn't understand his substitution pattern. I didn't understand why, when he had a group on the floor that was having some sucess, he would suddenly bench them in favor of more experienced players.

But most of all, just explain to me when Mikkie Moore became one of the best defensive players in the NBA. I don't know what picture they had on the front of the Bee this morning, but if it was the same one they had on their web-site, then no words are needed.

And I totally agree with the subs, but the game was still there to win despite whatever subs he made. The game was there. You can make all the complaints you want, BUT THE TEAM WAS STILL IN THE POSITION TO WIN, DESPITE HIS SUBS, IF ONLY THE GUYS DIDN'T CHOKE AT THE LINE. There would be no Harris play if Spenc and Salmons hit their FT's. There would be no OT. Again, if you want to put some blame on him, that's fine, but you can't pin the loss entirely on his shoulders. He has this team being competitive when they have NO BUSINESS being competitive. What did you expect for the team this year? Playoffs, or the lottery? Lottery. So, when they are going down the road you expected, why be upset?

Conversely, we had halfway decent D during the last Adelman year, but, with essentially the same roster, Muss did worse, and Reggie's done worse still. What Adelman said about defensive players is very true, but Adelman was also brilliant at getting the most he could out of his players. Muss and Reggie, not so much.

damn we lose to the crap like nets at home... Bobby should have passed it to the wide open Brad on the perimeter on that last play...

Reggie is NOT worse than Muss. Reggie's teams are competitive, and the season Muss was here, the team never had a chance.

And I also remember Rick's short rotations and him staying with the starters in the playoffs despite them struggling. He cost some playoff games, I believe, because of that. No coach is perfect, but the team could do a lot worse than Reggie, and some big problems that are happening to the team are not his fault.

Reggie's is a good motivator but he bad with X's and O's.... We have no plays just players that play hard...Geoff needs to get us a point guard who leads on the the court and move Beno to come off the bench as a tweener guard.....

The offense is still puzzling to me, but I will wait till Kevin and Cisco to come and analyze our offense. I remember how well we were playing when Ron and Mike were both injured last year and the offense/team was really exciting to watch.

Does anybody else get really excited when the young guys get up and cheer for their teammates? When a player has a rough moment and they head to the bench (ex: Jason last night – 3rd quarter) both Greene and Brown got up and supported Jason. I love that. I love the attitude these guys have. This is the type of guys I love to see. They get up and support each other whether we’re leading or losing the game.

Another thing I love, Jason Thompson and Spencer Hawes duo. When I saw them chest bumping each other after a play – I can’t say it enough, I’m lovin’ it! Our young guys show more excitement and feeling than some of our vets.

We're just talking about D, or at least I was. And yes, Reggie's teams are playing worse D than even Muss'. I'll list the most obvious stats, since stats are what I'm basing that statement on. The numbers in parenthesis are the Kings ranking within the NBA in that stat.

..........FG% allowed..........3pt % allowed.......pts allowed
05-06....45.4 (16th)...........35.1 (8th)............97.3 (16th)
06-07....47.2 (25th)...........36.6 (22nd).........103.1 (23rd)
07-08....46.6 (21st)...........37.3 (24th)..........104.8 (23rd)
08-09....47.7 (29th)...........43.1 (30th)..........104.8 (26th)

So Reggie improved FG% allowed slightly during his first year, relative to Muss -- but is doing worse than Muss did this year. With the exception of that one slight hiccup, all of our defensive stats have been steadily declining ever since Adelman left.

EDIT: insomnia gets us the remaining defensive stats. Not as clearcut, since one can still get a lot of steals and blocks while playing weak D, but... for completeness, here they are. They show as much about roster changes as about coaching, I think.

............Rebounds............Blocks................Steals
05-06....40.6 (18th)..........3.7 (25th)..........7.4 (9th)
06-07....38.9 (30th)..........3.2 (28th)..........8.2 (3rd)
07-08....40.1 (29th)..........4.1 (27th)..........7.9 (7th)
08-09....38.0 (29th)..........4.1 (25th)..........6.8 (22nd)

I'm still content with Reggie, despite this, since he's mostly shutting up and playing the kids. We could maybe use a new defensive assistant, though!

Coaching all the way...

The simple fact is that the team, just like against Portland, had no ****ing clue as to what to do out there on the last play.

Everytime I see some sh*t play like that I think of how great of a coach Rick Adelman was. RA would have easily gotten an open shot for Bobby or a jumper for Brad or something. Reggie needs to chill out with all that yelling at the players and focus a little more on drawing up plays.

Thats a bunch of crap, LMAO you dont remember when we made all those bonehead plays in the playoffs with Adelman just like this? come on now...
