Partly playing out of position though too. He's always been more SF/PF than SG/SF and he's being relied upon to be that other player up top. Can't handle, can't really pass, and they run him off way too many pin downs. This dude ain't Ray Allen.
If he could catch and shoot then we can chat about what position he should be played but apparently he can't do that so lets forget it

Yeah, that was always the risk if we rifled off like a 19-4 stretch to end the year. You basically would have to stick with Gentry at that point and tie yourself to a mediocre (honestly, been pretty bad with the Kings this year. Didn't really take note in his previous spots) HC. Plenty of freedom for Monte to get his guy now.
Unless Vivek picks DC…..

Alternating load management for Fox, Sabonis, and Barnes the rest of the season.

no more than 28 wins at seasons end please . Even less if they can manage.

but here comes the 8-7 stretch to close the season
Holmes has already been "load managing" himself, since the break. I think he decided that it wasn't worth taking a chance on another injury, before the off season

I love how Gentry has essentially torpedoed his wing depth while also maintaining a guard logjam by playing a small forward at shooting guard and forcing both Davion and DiVincenzo to come off the bench while he also increases Fox's minutes per night.

Meanwhile he also played two centers for stretches of the game and played Josh Jackson for one random stretch of the game because Harrison Barnes was exhausted only to never use him again.

This is where Monte needs to step in. No more Walton trying to inflate his win total at the end of the year by running his vets into the ground. Gentry is a lame-duck anyway, can't let him dictate running our players into the ground.

So if we finish 6-9 in the last 15 we would be 30-52. That is probably an optimistic outlook (If we were trying to win). Where do y'all think that would land us in the draft order?

He looked pretty decent when he got a chance. Knows the system better than just about anyone. Bobby should be getting that shot but for a team in transition wouldn't be the worst thing. Not that it's the case, but if you watch Doug on the sidelines, it looks like Gentry is easing him into running this thing. He's been getting more time with the players and has been walking the sidelines more lately.

This whole thing is super sketchy. I'll give him credit, he's a stealthier tanker than Casey but he's getting the job done, lol.

Probably 7th. Portland players finally realized they're a D3 school trying to topple Duke. I don't see more than 2 or 3 wins the rest of the way for them. I think the Spurs will keep chugging along and finish with a similar record in their remaining games and stay ahead of us. The Knicks aren't really in reach anymore as they're 4 games up at 9th.

I posted this in another thread and maybe Im giving them too much credit but "Portland has 3 games against San Antonio, 2 against Houston, 2 against OKC and one against Detroit, Indiana, Washington and New York. 11 total games against bad teams. They have a really good chance at coming away with 6-7 victories against those teams alone."

He's been adamant about trying to win games but no coach trying to win would continually take his three best players out of the game at the same time at least once a night and yet he's done it repeatedly.
Yeah and as you said before, literally say he's not going to do it. haha. That's a total tell. And the twin C lineups. The 4 guard Lamb at PF lineup. Gentry isn't incompetent. Nobody is this incompetent.

I stand corrected. That's a hell of a (weak) closing schedule. At the very least, makes it fairly unlikely we get topped by both the Spurs and Portland. If the Spurs beat them down 3 times, they're not going to pass us.

Pacers get to play the Cavs missing two starters and Rondo next and have the Spurs, Rockets, Portland, Detroit, and us remaining on their schedule and end their season playing the Sixers a couple of times when they'll probably be resting their starters. There's a good chance we can catch them if we lose hard enough/Gentry maintains the status quo.

OKC gets to play Portland x 2, Detroit, Orlando x 2. They're already experts at the whole tanking thing but those opponents in particular are also so tankeriffic that there's a chance OKC wins anyways. If they can steal one or two wins while we lose out, there's even a chance we can jump them (we do have the tie-breaker though).

Hypothetically, we could climb all the way to 4.

what funny is this 2nd half meltdown thing is not new, we had quite a few under Walton as well. I am not if the players or the coach.
third quarter meltdowns have been a tradition going back to the days of Tyrone Corbin. Even Joerger had his occasional issue with third quarter meltdowns (including the one to close out the season where he just gave up at halftime and refused to win 40 games on the year).

Kenny Natt and Keith Smart may have even had a few.....or a whole bunch

One must remember that Kenny Natt wasn't a basketball coach but rather a toilet plunger in a suit and tie put on the sidelines exclusively so we could tank for one season (after which the lottery gods smote us and moved us down three whole slots in the draft anyways).
