Welcome to the first game of the 2005-2006 Sacramento Kings preseason!

This is the thread where I give a running play-by-play of the game as it's being played for the benefit of those who may not be able to see it on TV or get it via radio.

It is NOT really an interactive thread. It's much more effective if I'm the only one doing the game commentary; that way there's no duplication, confusion, etc.

piksi generally starts a game-time discussion thread but for whatever reason he has said he's ignoring the pre-season, so hopefully someone else will start it. THAT thread is for sharing the experience of watching the game and discussing it with your fellow Kings fans at the same time.

In addition, we have mIRC chat. As arwen mentioned in an earlier thread, the server is irc.bludgeon.org and the group is #KingsFans.

**Blatant commercial**This thread and everything else here at Kingsfans.com, the most active Kings website on the Internet, is brought to you through the unending patience and generosity of our board owner/administrator, Jeremy. If you would like to contribute to help defray the costs associated with keeping this site up and running, please check the thread in the Lounge and consider becoming a Contributing Member. Not only do you get the satisfaction of knowing you've helped, but you get that nifty special title under your name and the larger avatar. :D **End blatant commercial**

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm like a kid on Christmas morning. This season has so much potential. There are all those new guys and, much like the packages under the tree, we really don't know what they have inside yet. It's going to be a lot of fun finding out.

So, let's get ready for the rides of our lives!

GO KINGS!!!!

^ brick said he wasn't doing grades tonite. They're not showing the game where he is. Maybe someone else will fill in.
VF- do we have a replacement for you this year on those rare occasions where you have to work late or go eat lobster?;)

We had a couple of subs last season. It doesn't happen very often but I'm sure if it should occur this year, we'll get someone to fill in the gap.

My dream is that eventually KHTK will go to live web feed of their radio broadcasts. That would make it accessible for everyone!!! Until that happens, however, I'm more than willing to do what I can to help Kings fans all over at least get a flavor of the game.

:D

Okay, it's almost time for ...

House Party Live.

Jim Koz, Kara Lawson and LaSalle Thompson. Nice round of applause for Kara Lawson of the 2005 WNBA CHAMPIONS - the Sacramento Monarchs!!!!

Whoooooooo!!!!!

They're just doing a bit of an overview of the team, starting with the vets. Kara is talking about Mike and how he's come out and announced he wants to be the team leader. She's in her element here, talking about what it takes to make a cohesive team out of veterans and newbies. Tank adds to it, saying Mike isn't a selfish ball-player and he should do well with Miller and SAR on the court.

:D

Now, talking about Brad...

Tank says he has to be aggressive, pull other centers out of their comfort zone, work the ball inside to SAR and Bonzi.

They're saying he has to be a little more selfish and TAKE those open shots.

Now they've shifted and are talking about the focus of tonight's game. What are they trying to do? How long do they play the vets? What about the battle at the end of the bench, etc.

Going to commercial. They're going to look around the rest of the West after the break...

I'm going to go get my favorite beverage and snack food AND my purple slippers!!!

Before we start of the game. Just want to say that VF, you rock, and thanks a lot for all these Play by Play's from season to season :)

Now they're talking about Amare...Koz confirms that the surgery Amare had is the same surgery Webber had. They're saying Steve Nash makes the Suns better, and Amare made Steve Nash better.

Showing the crowd as they go to commercial, there are some fans sporting jerseys. The majority purple, with a few black, even fewer white and a couple of retros. I haven't seen any gold yet...

Now Grant and Jerry are talking.

Grant talked to Doug this morning, and they're showing the interview.

Doug says, "I love to come back to Sacramento because there are so many good memories."

Very nice interview and I have to find a kleenex.

They say he is in the building for the game but will not play...

I'm trying to look behind Grant and Jerry, who are standing court side with the Kings shooting warm-ups behind them. It's gonna take a while to get used to all the new faces.

Have I mentioned lately that I love this team????

Now they're showing clips of Doug greeting Kevin, Peja and a couple of the other Kings. All very genuine smiles and I have to reach for the stupid Kleenex again.

It's 7 PM. I just saw three guys walk behind Grant and Jerry that I can only guess at - I think Sandrin might have been one, but I'm not at all sure about the other two.

;)

Horn sounds, they go to commercial ... when they get back, it's KINGS BASKETBALL time!

I have goosebumps once again. It happens every single year.

:D

Corliss Williamson addressing the fans. They're getting ready for the player announcements...cameras on the Kings as the announcer makes the introductions of the Mavericks.

Clip of Brad talking about what the starting five has to do this year.

Okay, here comes the Kings intro...

BTW, Arco looks about 1/3 full so far.
