[Game] Kings v. Clippers 11/01/13 Game Thread

It's unrealistic to think we can win every game, but man this one was within reach. At least I feel confident that coach will turn this into a valuable learning experience.

If we keep playing like this, we will earn respect around the league.

Cousins made a huge mistake passing the ball to PPat on that play where it went out of bounds off PPat (or so they say), he had Jordan in the air , he could have gone up for a dunk or drawn a foul and gone for a 3 point play

I'm not going to ignore that the Refs were a part of this loss. This was a crew that wanted to involve themselves in the game. They were giving the Kings calls during the comeback after bailing the Clips out in the first half. Then they return in the 4th to be a part of the outcome. This was a Ref ego game. They wanted to be a part of the outcome.

It doesn't mean they are at fault, but it doesn't mean you ignore it. Since the press won't speak up about it, the fans always have to.

Otherwise, the dark dreary fishing hole that is the SF spot is already an issue. I do feel Cousins gave up a little after that made up taunting tech. You can't have that. Again, McLemore is going to have to learn to be more aggressive. And if they aren't going to play Jimmer then put him as inactive so you have Ray's defense.

Lets bring this back into decent perspective at this point. The glass is certainly more than half full.

I think we have a chance to finish above .500 at home, which would really be an accomplishment as far as record goes

We were decent at home last season. I think 20-21. Where we need the biggest improvement is on our 8-33 road record

Good to see Thornton being MT rather eMTpty, he had a good game, Mclemore for the first time imo almost looked scared out there and not himself. We got a competitive team and the effort is there just got to tighten up a few loose ends and get a SF and we got a shot at the 8th seed.

Glad that they haven't cut off the ALP feed yet, so I can listen to some of the radio post-game. Loved hearing Kayte push back on HT. She is so totally wasted on the sideline.

No, do not blame the officiating for the outcome of the game. That's a tired old refrain.

The Kings have done a good job against a very good team. They have nothing to be ashamed of and will continue to improve.

You're right I shouldn't be blaming the officiating, just heat of the moment. Hard to see the meltdown at the end.

Paul pointed at his head to say "dumb play right there", the Clipper feed zoomed in on him after the block.

If you're talking about right after the block, where CP looks at the ref and points at Cuz, you're completely wrong, just like 3me. Unless you're talking about something that happened a few seconds later than that, which I doubt.

one thing i noticed about McLemore is i didn't really see them running the plays to get him open looks like they have been

Could you elucidate?
Turner was criticizing Thomas for his relative lack of assists, comparing him to Chris Paul. He basically said something like, "Well, Chris Paul scored a bunch of points, and still had ten assists!" And Kayte pushed back, pointing out how different the roles are between Chris Paul and Isaiah Thomas, relative to their respective teams. She also pointed out how Paul has rather more finishers to pass to than Isaiah Thomas has.

Good for Kayte! I'm not that fond of Turner to begin with, so I'm real happy to see him put in his place by someone who knows what the hell she's talking about.

I'm thinking we're building up for some sort of trade involving Thornton/Salmons for a SF...probably in the offseason. I just don't see Thornton working with what we have right now or in the near future...plus in developing McLemore, as well.

I don't want to harp on the past, but as a big Tyreke fan, it's becoming more and more obvious that he didn't really fit well with this team. Vasquez is definitely a better fit.

What i'm talking about is after Cousins gets the tech, Paul does the index finger to the cranium saying "you gotta think" aka "that was dumb" aka "you have to be smart"

My first thought on that is always who would give us anyone good for what we're putting out there?

But it's "you gotta think about how I can whine myself into getting you T'd up for being excited" which is ridiculous enough in itself to be more a statement upon the NBA than Cousins.

DMC's later fouls were dumb, but that was a great play he got T'd up for.

CP can eat crap. he was doing much worse "taunting" throughout the entire game. he just gets away with it because of who he is. he could be called for 50 taunting Tech's this season alone.

hell, he should have been called for one for that pointing to his head your talking about

I'd settle for the glass isn't almost empty. Last year, it was chipped and you stood a good chance of cutting your lip and dying of blood poisoning.

You're not kidding. It's almost unimaginable that anyone is complaining about anything right now with this team. Just have some fun with this team and stay the course

Mclemore has been pretty bad. He's a rookie and this is common, though. I'm sure they won't give up on him as quickly as Jimmer because he's taller and can dunk really good. I'm sure he'll continue to get a chance to develop on the actual court. It's about potential at this point, because he is a far cry from being as good as Jimmer.

Touche...but Thornton still has a little youth on his side, and for a playoff team trying to acquire scoring, I see him as a decent coin in a trade, along with Salmon's $8 mill falling off the books after the season. I see JT being involved in a trade too, in some way. Either way, lots of wheeling and dealing will be done over the next year or so, to be sure. I wonder how long we leave IT out of our starting lineup? I mean, I like Vazquez, but wondering what we're doing leaving him on the bench, with him becoming the floor leader he is becoming.

That was a bad call by the refs when the game is in the balance you can't call a tech like that, if you notice as the game goes longer the officials stop calling delay of game for touch the ball once it goes in the rim. Dumb move by DMC even worse call from the official.

I'm not expecting a ton out of McLemore for awhile, but do expect to see gradual maturity as this season goes on, and into next. I think by the time we're celebrating our new arena opening in 2016, he should be well on his way to his prime, but expecting lots of growing pains this year.

Can we please ban this massive, massive idiot now? Seriously. Either trolling or taking stupidity to amazing new levels, either way it's contributing nothing.
