[Game] Kings v. Blazers 11/09/13

Agreed. But also, most of those teams have been eager to trade those guys because of their impact on team play.
Those guys get hot potatoed around the league.
So explain the step playing IT and having him focus on scoring while ignoring his teammates takes? You just said that ends up with a middling team that isn't going to ever contend with that player. It isn't a step, it doesn't achieve anything that you will keep in the long run. If it isn't going to be a part of your future, why avoid something that might be? Please try to not contradict yourself again as it completely invalidates anything we talk about as it changes the whole premise of what we are discussing.

It's a step alright. Backwards....
Again, just speculation but I think it's interesting that Coach elected to sit a guy 6-10 from the floor in a game we were losing. Curious to hear if he addresses that.
it's his selfishness. I think he'll remain on the bench if he plays hero ball going forward.
"some of these players only care about themselves and when they aren't going they give up"
"im not so sure we have players on this team that hate to lose"

calling out Thornton and Salmons?
and IT
I beleive this team is actually good without Thornton/Salmons in the rotation.
lets not get crazy here. Not terrible may be more accurate. Watchable? That's all I want really.

Most of you have no idea of the actual ability of Jimmer. He carried a very average BYU team on his back to the sweet 16 and tore up teams like Arizona and Florida. Those of us who followed his college career know why there was The Jimmermania craze. The kid can flat out ball if you turn him loose on the point. he will lose the handle once in awhile and make a few bone head plays, but then he will start draining 3s from everywhere and take attention from the other players making them a lot better. Instead of bagging on the guy try getting educated. I never heard of Isaiah mania or Vasquezmania. They can't do what Jimmer would do for the team at point unleashed...win.
I have watched every game of his career. Yes he can shoot and I went crazy like everyone else during that run but you can't run that kind of offense in the NBA. You take Curry who pretty much did the same thing and put him on the kings and subtract DMC because BYU had no post player after Davies was suspended and you have Curry putting up monster numbers because he will be putting up a lot of shots. They still would not win though because defenses are more advanced in the NBA. Jimmer scored a lot in college you can't take that away from him. But he was getting picks at the top of the key sometimes two every play. That focus on offense I feel helped his scoring.
Jimmer can score and he can run a pick and roll while being unselfish. He prove that last night. But my opinion is in college he sometimes shot himself hot and when your the 3rd 4th best option you can't do that. he needed to improve that and he HAS! Jimmer is not the savior of this team. But I felt that he could be a cog in the machine. I hope he stays because I am a kings fan first now. But idk what PDA is going to do since they didn't pick up his contract.
I guess my last point is you fanatic Jimmer fans complain about the unjustified hate on Jimmer which can happen from time to time. But YOU GUYS ARE THE REASON! So do him a favor and allow his dedication to back him up he doesn't need fans backing him up on every little thing he is a big boy and hopefully he will prove his worth from here on out. I apologize for the rant everyone.

Wow. Really? That's the tack you think will best sell your point?

Here's the deal, dude. We're KINGS fans and fans of the NBA. We've seen college sensations come and go for years. And almost without exception they come with their own little devoted cadre of fanboys. We know who Jimmer Fredette is and we know what he did in college. Do you honestly think we don't research our potential draft picks?

Jimmermania? Oh puh-lease. That was then. This is the big leagues. Somebody else mentioned Tebow as a national phenom that didn't make the transformation to a successful pro player. There are numerous others.

You guys all seem to think we wish Jimmer ill. Nothing could be further from the truth. He's on the Sacramento Kings. Of course we want him to do well FOR OUR TEAM. Why wouldn't we? For us it's about the name on the front of the jersey, not the back.

If you guys would just dial back the Bieberfever-type mania, you'd be much better off.

It has nothing to do with mania. The Kings suck. All of the off season hype and b.s. and what are the Kings...crap. Worse than last year. What has IT got you? Nothing. Jimmer has never been given the chance to run the team without being afraid that if he makes a mistake he will be pulled. Give the kid a chance...10 games starting at point with 30 minutes a game and see what happens. If he fails he fails and the question will be answered. Hell it can't be any worse.

The Kings suck? OMG. Why didn't anyone tell me? I must have missed the memo. All this time I thought we were headed for the playoffs.

Off-season hype and b.s. about what exactly? Again, I must have drifted off and missed it all because it sounds like you were convinced there would be tremendous changes right out of the gate.

I'm not going to argue how Jimmer has been utilized because we have diametrically opposing views. But I will offer one piece of advice: Give our coaching staff a chance to find which players are worth playing and which should be relegated to the very end of the bench. You may not want to hear it, but there's arguably a good reason why teams aren't knocking down the Kings door to offer to trade for him just as there are good reasons why the front office chose not to pick up his fourth year option.

Never going to happen. Not here. Not anywhere in the nba. Guys that lack his foot speed and handles don't start at pg in this league. Best case comparisons would be the Mario Chalmers or Derrick Fishers of the world but those guys have better physical skills, are far superior defenders and have played with stars that take a great deal of the playmaking pressure of a guy that lacks the skills.

Time for jimmer fans to face reality and jump on board with the kind of realistic success that kings fans all hope for. If you can't do that, honestly, go away and stop clogging up the boards with your hysterics. Cheers.

I see a common thread on this Kings team...and it's the same as it was last year. Whether it's IT, DC, MT JT or etc...they play more for their own shots. Everyone wants to be a hero. The difference in The Kings and The Blazers was glaring the last 2 games. The Blazers passing was more crisp, sharp and they would often make 3 or 4 good passes to set up the shot. The Kings have players with good talent but they do not play as a team.

You're responding to your own quote. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt because that's possible with this software but dude... seriously?

If you're going to post around here, at least give us the courtesy of reading our posts before you start spouting trite rhetoric. Most of us have been begging for more team play since game 1.

Take a chill pill Sally. No one said Jimmer was ever going to be an all star. This venom at anything Jimmer is hilarious. You would just think that with all of the hoopla and hype that maybe just maybe...the Kings would get a little better. The organization is as inept as most of their fans. So far nothing has changed. Give them time...time for what? They had a draft, an entire off season, a pretty season and they are worse than last year?? Any fan who gives the Kings any credit is ignorant. They need to makes some drastic changes not just keep with the same people doing the same things.

Genius. Revolutionary. Quite possibly the eighth wonder of the world. Why hasn't anyone else ever said this before? You, sir, have made a completely original point.

The problem with you people is that you don't really follow the team and its clear you don't participate in the intelligent and often very critical discussions around here.

So you just come on here frothing at the mouth and spout nonsense. I'd encourage you to read posts to see that nothing you are claiming happens (or very infrequently) but we both know that would be a waste of time.

Amusing but nothing more. You see what you want to see. I see someone who is no different than any of a myriad of other previous player fans. We'll be here long after you've gone to the next fan board ... still wanting people to appreciate Jimmer for what he was and what he did instead of who he is and what he does.

I never knew Jimmer had this type of following around here hahaha...this is crazy to me. I like what Jimmer can bringg to this team but some of these posts are borderline fanatical

I've got this, folks. :)

REKing - I truly understand your passion for Jimmer and your desire to see him given a fair chance. So do most of the regular posters here. If you want to continue to post, you need to step back and chill.

Actually I would like to like my local team but they suck so bad it's almost impossible. The ignorance of a lot of the fan base isn't helping much either. To argue for this coaching staff, after the last 6 games is laughable. Like it or not Jimmer is on the team. Vasquez isn't making the team better, IT has never made the team better, MT doesn't make the team better...might as well give Jimmer a shot. Just exactly what do you have to lose? 1 and 5.... I would try anything and run away from what has been done the last couple of years.

We did run away from what has been done the last couple of years. I guess you missed the part about us getting new owners, an entirely new coaching staff, a new GM, a new president of basketball ops, etc.

You need to acquaint yourself with the recent history of the Kings before you try and argue it with us. Seriously. This ain't our first rodeo.

Are you really going to act all high and mighty. It's a good thing you don't work in the kings PR department. Not all long time kings fans talk down to others. Get off your high horse. We need more new fans. Even, gasp. Jimmer fans. Take a look at the sleep train. Empty seats. I want the team to win more than anything but for some fans to act like you have to earn your way to join the discussion is ridiculous. Yes, its about the front of the jersey but it's also about the back too. Ask Stern. Stars drive this league.

Come join the kings bandwagon. We'll take whomever despite this team's flaws.

Enough all the way around.

sdballer was trying to point out that a good number of the people who post here are intelligent, well-informed fans of the Kings and the NBA who don't need to be lectured to by someone who is ONLY here to promote his fanboy ideas about Jimmer.

There are Jimmer fans here who manage to get along quite nicely and actually contribute to discussions. REKing was not (please note the past tense) one of them.
