Except this team is already jammed up against the cap after signing him to that deal and after Cousins you are looking at luxury tax land. Smart was bad, but he wasn't that bad. You're pretty much putting all your faith in the current roster by re-signing Evans to that deal. If he didn't work out in Sacramento under that deal then good luck in a trade getting a Vasquez level player.
I think most of the forum ignores you so I wouldn't worry.

I will not believe this. I refuse to believe this until some more solid news aka Tyreke comes out saying so himself or ink on the paper.
Evans was still steadily improving during some rough team restructuring in the last 2 years. We WILL regret this, I can promise you that. It will be 100 times worse than losing Gerard Wallace.

A Vasquez level player. What is that exactly? A guy that got a lot of assists playing for one of the worst teams in the league. I find it comical that the same guys that dismiss Evans talent because the team didn't win now excuse that in the worse record guys we are picking up. And don't give me the but they aren't paid like franchise guys because we are looking at an increase for Vasquez in a year.

The Kings just got one of the league leaders in apg last year, no way is it worse. Talent for talent I'm taking Reke all day but seriously, could be a great deal for the Kings.

Are the Kings close to being a contending team? NO. The point is to get better, hopefully straighten out Cus and builid around him for the future. At this point if we dont move anyone else, which I think is unlikely, the only players we have money committed to for the 2015/16 season is JT and Jimmer. They're staying flexible and obviously they dont think Evans is that second superstar to build around Cus.
So we should never strive to be a playoff team then? Conference Finals or bust?

And not one of them has nor will win a title! That is the difference here! Do we want to be a play off team or a championship team? The only team that comes close to being the real deal is Chicago with a fully fit Rose! Maybe Indy but they are a team that went on to a hot streak!

And we lost one of the most efficient players (who didn't even play his correct position) too.
Look, I am willing to wait and see how Vasquez and lopez pan ut for the team, but I am really mad we gave away a possible cornerstone so easily. But this makes me wonder... why did Tyreke come out of the meeting happy if they said "OK well we are letting you go to NO as a SF and 6th man in favor of trading for vasquez and Lopez. have a good day and hope you turn out well."

I dont understand, why the Kings dont match the NO offer and if Reke and Mclemore Backcourt doesnt work mid-season, looking to trade Reke for something worthy. Vasquez is solid, but isnt a very good defender and Lopez is a role-player and too slow to play alongside Cousins from my point of view.

Well yea, because that LeBron guy is sort of dominating the league.
Even still, Mavericks just proved a 1 star team can win a title a few years ago

Well, in the early years the Play Offs would be great but once Cousins enters his prime, we should be looking to become a contender because he could be the best big in the game and a top five player (potnetially

remeber all those teams that went from 28 win seasons to conference final appearances. thats what we have to shoot for, and Tyreke Evans would have got us there dammit.

And now for the touche moment of the night. What is Tyreke, somebody that declined year after year on one of the WORST teams in the league? Lets be real here people, nobody is dismissing Rekes talent but don't blame anyone that might think it wise to think twice about re-signing him for the sole purpose of not losing out on talent and how that might not be the best way to build a team. That's how you end up with Jason Thompson for the next 4 years.

A 1 star team that had an elite passer and an elite shot blocker. We now have a very good passer and a good blocker with one future star.
No we're not, we have a $7.5 million dollar Salmons contract we can amnesty and $18 million worth of Thornton/Hayes/Outlaw that comes off the books in two years. That's practically half the salary cap right there. You're justifying, look at this logically. Did we get better from a talent perspective? No. Did we get better offensively? No. Did we get better defensively? Hell no. Vasquez is probably the worst defensive PG in the league which heavily mitigates his ability to pass the ball. We're supposedly building a winning team and this move makes us worse. This is not a great deal for us, this is a move that bad teams make to avoid paying money.

I actually do like this deal. The Kings have tried it for three years, Reke + Cuz just weren't developing any chemistry whatsoever. And seeing they both need the ball in their hands to be effective, I'd choose to build around the guy with the highest ceiling: DeMarcus Cousins. With Vasquez you get a guy with a higher basketball IQ than Reke and who has a pass first mentality. Combine that mentality with his great passing ability and you have a solid pick & roll machine with DMC. Robin Lopez is a solid backup center who's going to clog up the lane, defend the rim and is a decent enough offensive player(not a liabilty like Chuck).
Apart from their respected abilities, they have interesting contracts. Robin Lopez has a really cheap contract if you look at the rest of the decent centers in this league. He sure has some trade value aswell.
I'm not saying I dislike Tyreke, I'll miss his crazy finishes around the rim and he's a great guy, but I do believe this is a good deal for the Kings.

I think this decision makes it clear that they see Cousins as the cornerstone and are going to fill the team with guys that can make him most successful. And it appears they didnt think Evans could fit into their vision, or at least not at 11mil/year. Remember D'Alessandro is a cap specialist who looks at things 4 and 5 moves in advance. I now a lot of people arent gonna be happy, but try to keep an open mind at the moment and look at the bigger long term picture.

I'm saying that you're pretty much banking on a coaching change being the only fixer up needed on this squad if you keep it as is. I rephrase, Smart was terrible, but he wasn't THAT terrible.

As of now this team's talent level is slightly better than last years Hornet roster (thanks to the front court). I'm still against this move and feel like it is a Gerald Wallace moment for this front office. I eagerly await more info and more moves. I really hope Ellis isn't one of them.

Even with Evans and Cousins, we don't have a superstar either. And Paul George is better than either one already.
