Kings trade Skal for Caleb Swanigan

Not really earth shattering, but I really liked Swanigan at Purdue and thought he could be a surprise in the NBA. Big body, skilled in the post and could rebound the ball.

I like it. Swanigan hasn't gotten a chance to play. He's a fantastic rebounder. He's small for the PF position but he's gritty. Skal wasn't doing anything here anyway. Kings apparently liked his skill set before the draft.

He's still a young player (21). Limited upside but there's something there. We need rebounding and that's his specialty.

At this point I’ll take the scrapper. Though I do really think something will switch on for Skal at some point.

Isn't Caleb as slow footed as Skal? Skal has that shooting touch which could perceivable reach a elite level. A year or 2 more to get use to increased size and I think I'd prefer Skal here. Hmmm

I love this trade more with each passing minute. You could do much worse than Swanigan as your depth big off the bench. He won't take you over the top but he also won't hurt you. He's just a solid player.

I like this a lot. Swanigan has an extra year as a "project big" and he's an absolute mauler on the glass. Really skilled post player that was starting to develop an okay jumper at Purdue. Good passer too. Issues were mainly with his weight, could he handle the C position and some defensive issues.

I don't know anything about him, but very happy to hear Vlade went after a young rebounding specialist. Potential back up big man and that would be the #1 skill we need to compliment everything else on the roster. Plenty of firepower already.

Think this is unfortunately where Skal ran into issues here. He has a skill-set, we just have a bunch of dudes on the team with that skill-set who do it much better.

Liking this deal more. Thought he was from class as Skal, but he is only 2nd year. So extra year of young big.

His summer league highlights shows he can move better than I thought. Pretty skilled, able to bring ball up court, some nice passes, hit some 3s. Advanced low post game too. Uses big solid body to bang for boards.

Caleb looks like a big boy. If he can be a hustle rebounder while taking up all kinds of space inside, I see no issue. I really like Skal, but he wasn't ever going to get into the rotation IMO. He needs a chance on another squad.

I understand this. Swanigan's game fits better with Bagley and Giles. Neither are rotational level so maybe a change of scenery will help?

The Trez route is definitely how he eventually becomes an NBA player. High energy guy, super skilled post player, Small-ball C.

We needed a strong guy. Even if he doesn’t crack the rotation, will probably be good to have a big strong fella to practice with Bags, Harry, and Willie.
