[News] Kings trade Jonas to Denver for Saric

Kings just dumped Val for a trade that did not happen?
I think it had more to do with allowing the Kings to use the MLE to sign Schroder while staying under the luxury tax but ai could be wrong.

Of course, we ended up turning it into a S&T for Schroder and got an extra 2nd round pick, but I think shedding Valanciunas gave Perry more leverage/negotiating power with DET at the end of the day.

If this is formally official, that makes the Saric/Carter/2nds offer for Kuminga an illegal trade. If we still want Kuminga, it’d have to be a different framework to get the money to match.
Actually, I think Saric/Carter/2nds would still be doable when thinking about it some more.

Saric can’t be aggregated for 2 months so it would just mean that this trade wouldn’t be able to formally go through until mid-September. That’s still plenty of time before the season starts and perhaps a trade can be agreed to on principle well before then.

We would be hard-capped at the first apron after a S&T but I imagine the team doesn't want to go over that until we are a proven playoff team. That may have also factored into decisions surrounding Keon Ellis.
