what hurt the kings last year (and almost caused us to miss the playoffs) was giving up 30 points to players who are not even top 10 or 15 in the nba. players like jason richardson and chris kaman posting career nights against us. now that artest can get in the mix, we'll start seeing less of that. the only perimeter players that should have good nights against us should be the top caliber players like kobe and james and mcgrady
So true, Ron will kill himself guarding Kobe, he did a great job on Amare last night. Also Salmons is a heck of a defender and I like what I see in Cisco, now if only we could somehow get some of our big guys at the 4/5 positions to toughen up we'd have something here.
I see Williams and maybe Wood be shot blockers, but not physical presences, Potato could be, but he is very slow, he does have the body to be a real basher though. I really hope if we are forced to keep him due to his 3.6M this year that he be our enforcer like in the NHL, there was a guy that only job was to make sure his guys weren't getting abused or otherwise he's come out and knock some sense into the opposition. Corliss and Vitaly could be these guys for us.
I'm really not liking what I'm seeing from SAR and K9, they aren't exactly battling it out to get the starting job at the 4. Corliss would be a better fit from what I see so far as well as come in for Artest after Cisco.
GS is really hard to determine, I thought they would give us more trouble last year, but their wheels fell off. I think GS and the Clips will battle us for the 2-3 spots. We didn't exactly improve ourselves in the offseason, but we were one of the best teams in the NBA after Artest got here and with Muss stressing Defense I think we'll be o.k. We just desperatly need some Defense at the 4/5 spot and barring the youngins being hungry to make the team, we really didn't do much with Taylor and Woods.
Potato might actually be o.k. if he just plays goalie, he isn't going to exactly win a lot of foot races, but he never was that type of guy anyways. If he is tough, that is all I ask for when Brad comes out, he doesn't need to be a great scorer, just not allow the soft stuff in the paint. Even if he gets his 6 fouls and we bring him in and out for short spurts so Brad can get a breather that is o.k. with me, that's about all he can do anyways.
