Kings @ Thunder game thread

I'm glad to see the team not quit and cut the lead in the second half. Obviously defense is an issue, but how many times was Hawes posted on the block to work against a shorter defender? I only counted one time he did, and that was his left hook across the lane. This offense needs to have Hawes work on the block more instead of relying totally on high screens.

And another thing: WHY REACH OUT AND TOUCH A GUY ONCE HE'S BEATEN YOU? How many times did the Thunder, either on the break or getting to the basket, get the and-1 because the kings decided to foul them needlessly?

And with that loss, we officially will finish behind the Boston Celtics, who have 42 wins. We are the first team this year to be mathematically "eliminated" by another team (granted Boston is not in our conference). We are also the first team to lose 41 and guarantee a .500 finish at best.

Yeah, Beno played very good, but this was one of very few good games and I doubt he can be the point guard on a championship-calibur team.

They put it out there; they did their best. I have no problem with tonight's game. That kind of effort is all I'm asking right now...

I'm willing to bet he didn't draw up a play for Garcia to shoot without having his feet set. That was on our excitable Cisco, not Kenny Natt...

I covet...

I guess I'm committing a mortal sin because I covet the big three of OK City. Now that's a nice core. And they are going to add another to that core after this draft. Would one day we be so lucky....

[soapbox]

What is it with this dumbing down/lowering of standards that's been going on in sports these days? I mean, seriously, just because you have three guys that might actually start on a good team, that doesn't make them a "big three." In fact, I think a good rule of thumb is, if you're thirty games under .500, you don't HAVE a "big three."

Also, what's with this stupid MVP chant? There are, maybe, five teams in the league whose fans have any business chanting "MVP" for their best player, and all the rest of them are suffering from delusions of adequacy. I mean, Joe Johnson gets "MVP" chants in Atlanta... what the **** is that about?

[/soapbox]

Atlanta was chanting for Joe Johnson?

Do you have another soapbox? I might want to rant right along with you. I guess in the world of suckitude, mediocre must be worth a lot more.

I've been to three Hawks games this season; heard it with my own ears...

Damn Quincy Douby: if he's "Mister Fourth Quarter," why are we 11-41?

Yeah, it isn't too hard to be Mr. 4th quarter when the other team has put in all of their players that rarely ever play because of a huge lead.
