Kings talking trade w/ Cleveland?

Dont really put much stock into this, but if we were involved for Sessions, I'd think Jimmer would be part of the trade.

The thing doesn't say we're talking trade with Cleveland, it says they are swamped with trade calls as are we. Just basically we're getting offers on players from a lot of different teams. Giving up on Jimmer for a back up PG like Sessions would be real dumb IMO. Sessions game doesn't compliment Tyreke at all either, he's not a real good shooter.

I agree and don't put a lot of stock in any rumor. But the fact part at least as it reads is Kings are taking lots of calls from somebody - apparently Lakers for one.

lol SMH dude, it doesn't say we are talking to the Cavs or Lakers. It just said they are talking about a lot of trades, "as are the Kings". We could be talking to any team lol.

Uh, how is that a trade rumor? Saw that this morning. Just took it as Petrie's phone is ringing off the hook.

Me, too. And that's not surprising at this time of year. There's teams in the hunt, or close, who are likely looking for a guy or guys they think can get them over the hump and into the playoffs or make them a stronger playoff team.

It's a poorly written article as there was no need to add that the Kings were fielding calls in an article that had nothing to do with them. I'm sure a lot of teams are fielding calls. 'Tis the season.

I'm having a harder time seeing a trade happening. We only have a few guys who could possibly be on the trade block. JT and MT are the only players I can think of that would go to contending teams as bench players to help them with depth (although MT would do well in a Clippers jersey in the starting five.) Hickson and Greene have some value as expiring contracts for a team like the Celtics or Magic that are going to be buying stars next year. Jimmer could go to any number of non-contenders as a project, but I doubt Sacramento would pull the plug there yet. Everyone else seems untouchable either through massive suckitude or by being future cornerstones.

I think the Kings are an attractive trade partner because they are 1. stacked with prospects (Tyreke, Cousins, Tornton, Thomas, JJ, Jimmer, Honeycutt, Whiteside, Donte, JT) 2.have lots of cap room (though I am not sure how that all plays out under the new CBA) and 3. aren't going to the playoffs, so they might consider taking on a player that isn't going to play this season.

I could see a trade for cap space if they got their $3 mil with it to offset the contract.

Also, with teams going after big fish like Dwight Howard and potentially Steve Nash, teams like the Kings are useful for helping iron out the deal as far as talent and $$ goes.

I'd be willing to trade the Lakers a pile of dog **** for cash.

arent we at the salary cap floor if im not mistaken? so a salary dump trade is not as likely this season like we have seen in the last few seasons

Sam Smith said most deals will be about the money because teams are freaked about the tax. Kings have space and teams will look to dump some money I'm sure.

When it says the Cavaliers, who are swamped with calls, as are the Kings" that's probably a good thing. And predictable. Anybody disappointing, in transition, with potentially expendable personnel and cap room. Who knows what those calls are about, and you always have to cross your fingers that we don't do something really stupid -- when the pressure mounts that's when mistakes are made. But in general it should mean we have opportunities, and if we pick the right one maybe we can undo some of the damage from ths uemmer.

Well, we aren't dumping salary. The idea is with all our cap space, we can absorb contract, and not have to make the amounts match.

For example, a hypothetical. Dal wants to clear cap space to compete this summer for DWill and D12. They look to trade either Odom or Marion. Given how far under the ceiling we are, we could trade JJ, an expiring contract(although could extend QO) worth about 3.5M for Marions much larger contract.

Say Marions contract is about 8M, we trade JJ and absorb about 4.5M of the difference. That gives Dal 4.5M more in room, and then if they let JJ walk, in effect they cleared the entire 8M+ they owed Marion off their books for this summer. So its not us looking to dump salary. Its vet teams looking at a team like us to help out so they can get more flexibility under the cap. We already have all the flexibility we need.
