Darius Sighting..

I was at downtown Mikuni's last night, and I guy walked in that looked very familiar. It was one of those, man I know him from somewhere, kind of things. Then it quickly dawned on me that is was Darius. He ended up not staying, because the wait was too long.

Geez, I guess poor Darius doesn't have much clout in Sactown!

I'm glad you let him in.....unlike at Mikuni's last night, where they apparently told him to get his eliminated *** out the door!!!

One thing I have to comment on is with the money the guy is making he could dress better lol. The clothes I was wearing were worth more, unless his stuff was custom made for his size hehe.

I met Jerome James.

When Jerome James had his knee surgery he came into the movie theater and SAT RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!! He had two nice looking ladies with him. The movie was The Blair Witch Project...

Totally true story. I really did have to move because he sat RIGHT in front of me. I like to sit in the front rows, and he needed the leg room and because of his one leg being in a cast so he sat in the front most row. Was cool to meet him, and shake his hand. But then of course I told him he had sat in front of me and how was I going to see (jokingly)!!! But of course I did end of moving over a couple chairs. He left about halfway through it because of one of the women that was with him was getting sick from the movie. He seemed like a nice guy, and did not try to ignore any of the kids that were there that wanted to talk to him.

Thank God he left. We don't need Darius falling victim to a fatal intestinal parasite. Sushi. Yuck. Worms and and other multi-celled parasites.

What's wrong with sushi, especially at Mikuni's? I love sushi with lots of wasabi. Good stuff!

"Lots" of Wasabi? Hasn't your head exploded yet? :D

Actual, sushi ain't so bad; but I think it's the rice and seaweed that make it good rather than the raw fish, which to me is just "meh".

Hey, I can handle some of the raw fish (sashimi). It's the seaweed I can't handle.

Sushi is great, except I don't recommend octopus, unless you're fond of chewing on Goodrich tires.

If you're a little nervous the first time, just down a few small cups of sake until you get brave.

Moving to the Midwest, I found that I miss something more than sushi. They have sushi here, but it is not fresh fish, but frozen.

What I miss most is dim sum. Think I will have a dim sum brunch the first Sunday I am back. Mmmmmmm!!

funny how this started out about darius, and now is about sushi. so i will now make a sushi quote. all sushi starts to taste better after about 4 large sapporo's and a few dozen shots of saki(cold of course)

Eel is absolutely perfect. I'm not big on quail eggs, but other than that, I love sushi.
I love eel with wasabi, of course. Eating sushi, you must have wasabi. Is everyone understanding my point? :D

I actually had some sushi today. I went to Raley's and had sushi with tempera and sushi with cucumber. And yes, I had sushi with the raw fish. It was really good.

Saki is good hot as well.

What is wrong with sushi, let me count the reasons:

1) Raw fish has invertibrate parasites, and some of these parasites kill humans. In fact, two U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers and a federal politician died last year from eating sushi in Tokyo. It took a couple of years for them to die. They each contracted a parasite for which there is no cure or treatment. I think it attacks the brain.

2) As any fisherman will tell you, raw fish and invertibrates should be used exclusively for bait to catch fish that you intend to clean, filet, and cook well before eating.

3) Sushi is more expensive than truly edible fish.

4) Speculation. I think people eat sushi largely because it is cool. Much like eastern tourists and Hollywood bozos might eat Rocky Mountain Oysters while staying at a dude ranch.

5) Sushi should not be eaten when there are BBQ grills, broilers, pans, deep fryers, crushed garlic, cracked pepper, drawn butter, and tasty marinades readily available.

Darius probably left the sushi place because he initially thought that he had walked into a proper fish-and-chips joint.

Q-Dog, I didn't think you were one to be taken in by the scaremongers! The stuff you mentioned - that's what you've got stomach acid for. Sushi is tasty and Japanese have the longest life-span, so how bad could it be?

There's lots of reasons not to eat beef, too. Hormones, antibiotics, mad-cow disease, the fact that the USDA does not have the legal authority to issue a recall of bad meat, intense pressure to keep costs down, etc, etc. Have you read "Fast Food Nation?"

Fish is one of the healthiest forms of protein and its healty. About the parasite. I believe these risks may be considered minimal as long as the restaurant is reputable and obtains and maintains its fish according to high quality standard.

Your # 4. I think people eat sushi because they like it. I don't think it has anything to do with being cool. Since I'm Japanese, I grew up eating raw fish.

By the way, I think Darius left because he was hungry and didn't want to wait. Sometimes Mikuni's is a very long wait.

Yeah, maybe. Prions are tough to deal with, but I think all meat should be cooked. Have you cleaned many fish lately?

many fisherman i have fished with have cut up tuna right when we've caught them i dont know which people you talked too. and the japanese do have the longest life spans because of the mainly sushi/rice diet they abide to. dont get me wrong, i am a bbq man. just dont think you should bash sushi cause you dont like it. i have to be drunk to eat it.
