elitedude - I'm not talking about the forums. I'm talking about the trade checker which is pretty much accepted around here.

Does The trade checker show contract details?

Reportedly he isn't locked up anymore. Which explains
interest.

Realgm is not a very detailed place

Draft rights don't expire, atleast for 2nd rounders. And thats the whole point with drafting unproven european players.

I am CERTAIN that Spurs hold the rights to Javtokas and if he wants to play in the NBA then he would be playing for the Spurs. If we want him we would have to trade for him. Simple.

We also can't sign David Andersen either because Atlanta have his rights.

Javtokas contract had a time limit of 4 years. According to Rytas owner, he can sign with any Nba team he wants, starting soon. They are already planing on not having him on the team next season.

I have also learned that a player, pavel cuikinas is in the draft but he will not get signed imo. He still needs time and go back to rytas. He is 21 or 22.

I don't know bodiroga's situation and wasn't talking about it.
Javtokas is free to sing with the NBA team because he is out of contract with his current team and as a result the NBA team doesn't have to buy out Javtokas' contract.

That is different to a NBA team having rights to some player. Spurs have Javtokas' rights the same way we have the rights to Bodiroga. So if we want Javtokas, then we would have to aquire his rights from the Spurs and that would mean trading. Similarly is some NBA team wants to sign Bodiroga then they would have to trade with us to get his rights. Otherwise if he wants to play in the NBA it can only be with the Kings.

the problem with javtokas is big. after acsident spurs told no way in the world this guy gona play. that mean for us lithuanians they will not gona singn him. however after last year olimpics richard jefferson told javtokas it dosent look that you was dying 4 years ago.this kid made tramendous recovery and last 2 seasons playing much beter then he was befor accsident.i bet kings woud have to fight for his rights with spurs.but if they win we can let go skinner easy. brad would be the happiest on team reseving the bigest help from javtokas.i bet second part of the season javtokas time will be25-30 min.this guy will prove like (divac and sabas did) WHITE MAN DONOT HAVE TO JUMP IF HE HAS HEAD ON HIS SHOULDERS. we should get him no mater what.he has big potential he did recoverd from death trap an he seams to me very hungry. only one thing in his contract NO MOTOSICLE RIDING ON US SOIL

No riding motorcycles in the United States. I can appreciate that concept.

It doesn't matter what their owner says. If he said that, he's wrong. What makes Javtokas different from every other 2nd round pick who was drafted and then did not attend a training camp or sign a contract? I have never seen anything that indicates the Spurs have renounced their rights to Javtokas. If he's coming to the NBA, he's going to be a Spur or he's going to the team that can trade for the rights to sign him.

sloter,
what you said about the perceived direct proportion between a player's quality and his existence in the nba is in general correct. however, in the case of kambala, a very american player who played in the mountain west conference in unlv, that he could not make it to the nba is very telling. he is a brute with below average skills. i believe he also played in turkey for a while (or else, he played against turkish teams so many times that i get confused). cannot say that he is a better player than songaila.

This should clear things up some:

http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#40

40. What if the team and player can't agree to a contract? What options does the player have? How long does the team keep his draft rights?

The player's options are limited. What happens depends on a number of factors:
If the player is already under contract, or signs a contract with a non-NBA team, the team retains the player's draft rights for one year after the player's obligation to the non-NBA team ends. Essentially, the clock stops as long as the player plays pro ball outside the NBA. Players are not included in the team's team salary while the player is under contract with a non-NBA team.

okay... i hate to end this unenlightening conversation about foreigners.... but what about Peja Samardziski? yeah... i know, another foreigner... but he looks like he would be a good fit.... he's like a young divac according to scouting reports.... if he can hang with the big boys he would be a good pick up and the kings could move miller to the pf position.... cause honestly, i dont believe anything about this team becoming better defensively.... i just dont, short of a serious trade....

7'1 255lbs.... plays in the high post, okay... something that thomas couldnt really do... play in the high post and pass the ball.... not grow 6 inches.... that would be nuts if he could though... lol....

He doesn't seem to be developed enough to give us any help right now. I'd like to see Tiago Splitter come on board for us. More developed 7-footer, has the potential to be a good defender, although being a rookie he might be foul prone in the beginning.

true... but foul prone rookie centers on this team wouldnt get any playtime... a tentative rookie center with passing skills would get a little more pt... look at darius, he's foul prone because he actually hustles... thats why he gets benched so quickly.... but when he doesnt he seems like the perfect fit because he has the skills to stay on the court...

id be down either way though....

Looks like the big guy is staying Euro for one more year...

Javtokas stays in Lithuania - Jun. 17, 2005 - by BasketNews LT

MVP of ULEB Cup final, Robertas Javtokas (209-C-80, agency: Interperformances, college: Arizona), stays in Lithuania. Center of Lietuvos rytas Vilnius team decided to stay in ULEB Cup's champions team and will play in Euroleague for the next season. Javtokas was thinking about NBA after last season but decided to stay in Vilnius. *

'Vilnius club's chiefs offered good conditions for me so I'm staying', - said Javtokas. 'NBA lockout is possible and I'm going to participate in Lithuania NT training camp, so I wanted guarantee for the next season'. Javtokas also said that he also*stays in Vilnius because of his wife Vilma continues studies in university. *

It will be 6th season in Vilnius team for Robertas. Last season was one of the bests when Lietuvos rytas won ULEB Cup and Javtokas was named for MVP. 'I'm thankful for Robertas and other players who stays in Lietuvos rytas despite better offers from other teams', - said Jonas Vainauskas, the vicepresident of Lietuvos rytas. *

Last weekend Robertas had wedding with his long-lived friend Vilma Barauskaite. The pair are going on vocation these days.

That's interesting and I wonder if its still a valid article -- dayed June 17, and since that time the lockout has been averted. Hadn't seen any reports over here about teams looking elsewhere because he was no longer available.

I have seen him play and for the life of me I can't figure out why people believe he is NBA prospect. He is hopeless and thats coming from a Partizan supporter.

Oh No,Kaspars Kambala in the NBA? OMG!! I've seen here in Spain and he only knows how to play near the basket using his strenght...Petrie going Mad!!! heheheh If we are looking for an european big man, what about Fran Vazquez? :D

well, I don't know jack squat about this guy, but he certainly doesn't look like another "soft euro" to me...

He doesn't look like he can jump over two sheets of paper either, with those fat ankles and tree trunk calves. That's the problem, he can be as tough as he wants but if he gets his stuff blocked constantly and can't do anything about guys blowing past him for easy scores, he's just a poor man's Danny Fortson.

I saw Kambala quite often while he played at UNLV. He is a tough physical player who relies more on his toughness than his abilities. He is slow, which does him more harm on the defensive end when defending in the post, but he leaves everything on the floor and he's one of those guys that when you are cheering for the opposing team you end up hating him by halftime. I'm sure he has fine tuned his skills in Europe the last few years and I'm not sure this would be a bad pickup for the Kings since Petrie & Co. would rather have someone who could play right now rather than having to develop someone over time and Kambala could come in right now and provide some good minutes whereas someone straight from college would most likely be relegated to 11th or 12th man status. He seems like the type of player that Petrie would like and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him in a Kings uniform next year.
Yup, I saw alot of Kambala when I lived in Vegas, too. Not what we need, IMO.
