Kings @ Raptors Game Thread

I think the fact that he is saying it means more. We haven't heard this type of talk since Webb.

This is the type of player every team wants and needs. Someone who's #1 goal each night is to win and wont taking losing for an answer. Shows a lot of heart to me. He gets pretty upset when we lose. I like that!

But of course if that upset continues Ron may explode...

I mentioned this in the PBP thread. He was cheering from the bench AND he was cheering from the scorer's table as he was waiting to come into the game... Sure looked good, and it's the type of thing that will wear off. And it's how the Kings used to be...

--------------------------------------------------------

On some of the other stuff, I can't believe what I'm reading.

:(

Here it is, two games into the Artest era and already people are bagging on other players as they compare them to Ron?

Geez.

Why not look forward to a different, more exciting, more involved team? Why not celebrate that we're going to have Bonzi back shortly and SAR will get his jaw unwired and be able to eat, breathe and regain some strength?

Kings fans (the genre not the website) never used to be about ALWAYS finding a reason to complain. It's really disheartening to me to see that this is what the fanbase is reduced to...

We have hope for the first time in quite a while. Instead of shooting it down before it can even clear the horizon, why not show a little bit of faith and see what happens? We can always go back to dumping on everyone in February...or March.
totally agree with you on seeing-the-positive-side statement

I second those thoughts!

We will win the next one. Bonzi will be back (hopefully). When does SAR get the wires off?

And like VF said this sort of thing is contagious among the players. These last two games have gotten me very excited as we start a new Kings era with Artest.

We may need some tweaks here and there but I agree we need to let this play out and see how things go.

bibby just said it's a fight that kings need and those TOs were just stupid but not caused by mental mistakes
he also said he'll get over it

I am excited about what I have seen tonight. A win would have been better, but all in all, I think that brighter days are ahead.

We need to move Shareef for a defensive four.

I've been thinking this before he had his jaw broken.

I think we need to wait until Bonzi comes back, SAR is healthy, etc. before we decide what the next step in changing the starters should be.

What I've seen from SAR has shown me that he has determination, will, heart, etc. He's giving it all out there, even when he's clearly weakened from his condition he wants to help his team.

With the changes in the team dynamics, who knows what will happen. We don't need to move Shareef right now. We need to see our real starting five on the court for the first time...

I do agree that we need to see our starters healthy (is this ever possible on a Kings team?) with some playing time under their belts.

Kings gotta go 23-15 in this next stretch to get back to .500, which wouldn't guarantee us a playoff seed, I don't see it happening I must say...

I see what you're saying but we already know with a healthy Shareef and Brad as your front-court, you don't have any Interior D AT ALL!!!

Shareef get's a few blocked shots here and there teams just run all over them in the paint.

it is highly unlikely

therefore hope is all we got so far

Hey, tough loss tonight on a last second shot... quite an entertaining game though

Loved what I saw from the 4th qtr on until we lost that lead in OT, before the 4th and OT, was back and forth or playing catch-up. Artest/Bibby/Martin/KT were big! TOs were crazy though, it felt like a 1000. SAR had a nice little stint after his troubles. Would of loved to have Bonzi out there..

Let's face it. This season getting into the playoffs is a far fetched idea unless when bonzi comes back, the current starting five gel like we haven't seen all season. The premiter is getting a lot better. if the rest of the perimeter and most importantly the interior defense is better, bibby's lackthereof doesn't show as much.

We all hate to say it, but in the next year or two you know there will be a move to be made with Brad for a more agile, and quicker center. Centers are a damn hard thing to find, that's why it will take a while, and to find someone to take a Center of Brad's salary level that is so slow. But, we need a true center, that can defend and is stronger.

Brad's lack of defense isn't a lack of effort it's a lack of ability, because of his speed. He just can't get there in time. He is a good passer and a good jump shooter though. That'd be ok if he was a small forward, but he's not. What frustrated me about Miller is he lost some mass after he broke his left last year, and he's never regained it. He made statement at the end of the playoffs last year, that he obvioulsy needs to get stronger, because he got bounced around by Jerome James. He also, said he will increase his reps and not push for heavier weights though, because he doesn't believe in that. You won't get stronger if you don't push your body to get stronger. You raise your reps and your body muscles may get leaner, you may show more definition if you are also decreasing fat on top of the muscle with cardio*if you have any*, but you will not get stronger. Your muscle will get denser which technically increases strength a little, but not in a power sense. He needs more power.

All in all rebuilding is a slow and mythotical process, and honestly I see it happening quicker here than it does with a lot of teams during rebuilding. I'm looking toward a future that could be very bright. Hopefully we can resign Bonzi, and hopefully he would consider coming back.

How many times this season did we read some variation of this statement on this board ?

I believe it when I see it

I know, I know. :o I have said it myself at least a dozen (make that many dozen) times but sometimes, hope is all ya got!

Besides, somebody has to be the annoyingly postive one. Tonight it's me. I'm tired of all down stuff, so I am going to predict a HUGE winning streak, beginning Tuesday against Denver!

I'm withya on that.

As long as the fans don't boo Ron, I think we're good ;)

As someone posted above I think we have to go 23 and 15 to make the playoffs for the 8th seed. Well I seriously think that if we're thinking about the playoffs at all we should be thinking about the 7th - 6th seed. Pretty much so we wouldn't have to face San Antonie in the first round. Give this team 2 weeks MAX. As one of the commentators said Ron will be 25% better Bonzi will be back, and SAR will be healthy. Then we go from there...
