Sabonis has shown himself to be surprisingly good hedging and switching, which we were doing perhaps too much before trading for him but are now doing frustratingly little now that we have someone who can.

And on the flip side the King's now have less shotblocking so playing help or down is even worse.

Surrounding Sabonis with the same crappy starting lineup we were using a couple of games ago except swapping Fox for Davion who's really hitting the rookie wall and benching our best player would be a great way to ensure the stealth tank and a high pick in this draft though...

Kings best player remains in the starting line up.

Defense = Davion at the one spot, Holiday, Barnes, Moe, and Domas.
Grind out wins = let Domas run the offense, efficient with more spacing now that Fox is coming off the bench.
4 plus defenders.

And a poor defender at the most important defensive position, 1 good shooter, 1 okay one, and 2 bad ones. Nowhere near enough defensive power to offset Sabonis since Barnes, Harkless and Holiday aren't exactly All defensive team (and tbh I question if Davion ever gets there too), and 1-4 probably the worst offensive team in the league with Davion, Harkless, and Holiday. Screams 29th in ORTG and 21st in DRTG.

I imagine Sabonis, despite being an all-star and the team's best player, you will now have a multitude of Fox related excuses among others if this team doesn't go anywhere. Since y'know, you were beating the drum for a Sabonis trade and all.

Well, Sabonis is a star and I wanted him next to Fox and Hali. And if that wasn’t possible, I wanted him next to Hali. Fox and Domas wasn’t on my want list and if it doesn’t fit, yhall know who’s getting shipped.

For some reason, ever since I saw Alvin Gentry mic'd up when he was the Suns coach, I couldn't shake the feeling that he was basically Mr. Mackey from South Park, to me he even kind of sounds the same
Alvin is by all accounts an absolutely fantastic human being and among the better assistant coaches in the league. He's also one of the worst defensive coaches in the history of the league and really bad at doing some of the things that head coaches are supposed to be good at.

Forgive me because I missed the 2nd half, but HB can't keep getting a free pass on D. His stats are horrible this year and BI almost shot 75% tonight to get 30+. Seems as though his offense fell off hard after scoring well in 1st q.

Best thing for this team would be to lose as much as possible, regroup for next year

Good times when your interim coach is worse than Luke Walton.
They're just bad at totally different things. Walton will run something broken into the ground until it finally works and then move on to his next bad idea. Alvin will find some success and then stop doing it, point out that he was wrong to change, but still not do what worked the next game.

Honest to goodness you can't make it up.

This team will never win a championship with Fox as leader.

I think that only a "Klay Thompson" kind of SG would make this squad a play off team. But to get a player of that caliber in the off season is very unrealistic.

Fox is a great slasher/scorer. But that's it. He is a terrible shooter. He is a terrible defender. He's below average at the free throw line. And for a so ball dominant guard, he's also a below average passer.

The best thing that Monte can do is showcase him for the rest of the season and try to trade him this summer.

Sabonis lol.

So I think the furthest we fall at this point is 9th. Pelicans now 4 up in the 10 seed, Blazers 3.5 up in the 9 seed, Knicks 3 up in the 8 seed and Spurs 2 up in the 7 seed. Meanwhile, OKC is 2 games ahead at the 4 seed and the Pacers 1 game ahead at the 5 seed.

Assuming we don't go on our patented 6-game winning streak with nothing to play for, seems pretty likely we're in the 5-7 range.

The ultimate issue might be that the 10th spot in the play-in might remain open right to the end of the year.
The Pels could climb to nine while the Lakers continue their precipitous fall down the standings.

His stats look good, but it’s becoming obvious that Fox needs a team to built around him to win. Can’t play next to Hali. Looking increasingly like he can’t play with Domas either. 3-5 since the trade and going against another team with a major roster shake up, in a must win game for both teams, they got blown out tonight. At some point, enough is enough.

That teams gonna struggle to score 70 points a game. Holiday and davion combined for 3/13 tonight and moe isn’t exactly gonna light it up on the offensive end. Fox got 25 on 50% shooting. He’s the least of our problems.

I missed the game but was pretty surprised we lost by 30.

I mean, 30?! Against the freaking pelicans in a game that actually meant something.

The Kings would win more than they’re winning now. Right now, the team is playing zero defense and the offense is essentially Domas or Fox taking turns trying to get layups.
