I think the Kings / Lakers trade is possible because the Lakers would have a great starting five if they sign a big like Magloire with the MLE:

?
Odom
Artest
Bryant
Bibby

I am not at all a Cook's fan.
He is in the trade for this contract.
If you want Farmar and Sasha, why not. But, would the Lakers be OK ?

Kwame Brown & Brian Cook are not who I want to see next year.

I think with Bynum, J-Will & the 10th pick, the Kings could have a good interior presence for sure and why not a great presence!!!!!!!!!

I still think an Artest/Salmons package makes more sense between the two teams..

Salmons is a better fit for the triangle and between the two the salaries aren't so big.

Kwame/Bynum for Artest/Salmons would be pretty beneficial for both parties IMO.

If LA wouldn't trade Bynum for Jason Kidd they're not going to trade him for Artest/Salmons.

That logic is so dumb though...Artest is 27 with HALF the contract of Kidd. The Lakers probably should've been more willing to deal Bynum at that time. Artest/Salmons at age 27 is greater than Kidd at age 33 IMO, especially when you factor in contracts as well.

The logic may be dumb, but it's also an indication that they could get much better for Bynum than Artest and Salmons. They're not going to just throw him into a deal.

I think its a little different now, they know Kobe is on the verge of blowing up and i garantee he is the only one off limits this offseason.

I really just disagree then...I can't think of one player they could REALISTICALLY get that is better than Artest. They don't have the necessary pieces to land a KG or JO or hell, even a Gasol...Deng is base player in all 3 of those deals and Bynum doesn't even enter the same stratosphere as he does. And if they did deal for one of those players, they'd gut their roster and have Kobe and that one player surrounded by NBDLer's.
Sure they could still get Kidd...but would you rather have Kidd at age 33 with 3 years and almost max money or get Artest for 1-2 years at 8 million AND John Salmons at 4-5 million for 4 years.

Artest/Salmons is one of the better packages that the Lakers could actually net in dealing with their pieces.

They have 4 REAL trading assets....Kobe and Odom are primarily in place.

Andrew Bynum
#19
Kwame's expring deal
Jordan Farmar

Other than that, there's really nothing any team would want from the Lakers that the Lakers would give.

That's just a failure of imagination. They could offer Kwame and Bynum to Seattle in a Rashard Lewis S&T, for starters, or to Milwaukee for Mo Williams. They could go after Richard Jefferson or heck, they may hang onto Bynum in case Kevin Garnett becomes available.

I just don't think Artest/Salmons is that appealing of a package for them because it only fills the SF hole and doesn't solve their point guard problem, and you're basically asking for ALL of their trade assets. It just doesn't make any sense.
