Keep snowing in Denver please !
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
On December 22nd 2002 Kings beat Warriors 103 - 88 to improve to 22-8 for that point of the season.. It was yet another easy game in which Kings took a commanding lead in the 1st quarter and never looked back. Only 2 Kings players played over 30 minutes which is pretty much nothing in the usual RA type of rotation. Webber lead Kings with 20/12/5/4bl, Pedja also had 20/3/5. Mike had 13/2/5. Bobby was great off the bench with 17/2/2.

"We have to be pleased after last night," Sacramento coach Rick Adelman said. "We came out and started the game really aggressive. I thought Peja really ran the floor better and shot it well. I thought Webb continued to play well. They came with a lot of energy to start the game."

"Sacramento hurt us the whole game with a variety of things," first-year Warriors coach Eric Musselman said. "It is pretty difficult to win on the road against the best home team in the league, shooting like we did from the foul line. I would rather travel to China and play a game in front of 2,000 people than travel an hour and a half to play in this building."

sweet irony
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After yet another home loss (7-7) - Kings started yet another losing streak which they will most certainly extend to 3 games tomorrow night in Denver because only thing we have going for us is the weather. Recordwise Kings are 10-14 which is pretty much the same as last season with one big difference which is the fact that another "Pedja for Artest" trade is not coming. The Sixers game can't come soon enough. Other than that - Kings have lost 9 of the last 11 games and I strongly recomand avoiding to look at the standings in order not to ruin holidays.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking of holidays - the best possible christmas present for the Kings would be if the Nuggets game were postponed. This wouldn't really change our chances there because the loss would be postponed for another time but the players wouldn't have to suffer trough all the "inconvinience" that they have to go trough to pick up that L. No early flight, no snow, no cold, no lack of oxygen, no abuse over 48 minutes and finally, the next game is a W because we play Sixers at home and that is the only team that sucks more. Most importantly - we wouldn't have to watch the game and put up with the pathetic performances and feel sorry for Kevin who is stuck in this nightmare. If You asking Yourself - why I did write a pregame thread for a game that might be posponed - the answer is simple - We are Kings and with our luck we will play the game even if we have to change in the bus from the airport to the arena. Just the way - things are.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can't play opponent's style and win a game especially when You have less talent. You can't fight rockets with guns. You can - but You will lose. Even if You win a battle here and there - You will lose the war. It is just that simple. We played Suns well in the first half and everyone knew that it won't last - and it didn't last. Tonight we did the same. In the half time interwiev Kevin said that Kings would be able to repeat the first half pewrformance playing the same way. I am not sure - where the confidence was coming from but even Kenny Smith knew that it wouldn't last. Basically - we never had a chance - not the way we chose to play. They droped 44 on us in the 3rd and we just watched and continued to do the same. I am wondering what the Muss is doing these days because he sure as hell isn't coaching and if he is - we clearly need someone else.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Watching Mike Bibby play is extremly painful these days. Everything is going wrong for him. He has some good minutes here and there but generally - it is subpar at best. If You add " no defense" - things are getting ugly. I don't remember the last time when we were even in the PG matchup. He got killed tonight again. Man - I thought Pedja was horrible last season before the trade. Mike is going towarsd a whole new level of useless.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ron is acting up again. Tonight - his knees were sore whatever the hell that means. I think - he just didn't feel like playing. How bad is it if even the coach has no clue what is going on and the game is about to start. If Ron continues to pick and choose - he might not play too many games. We can conclude that things are pretty bad in that lockeroom. I know that losing is hard but - You are well paid professional - deal with it. Running away and hiding is muvh easier. "True worrier"
------------------------------------------------------------------------
And yet again - it is Keving Marting that still continues to provide a glimmer of hope in these dark times. Scored 40 points but unfortunately- no one else was interesting in playing on his team. looks like we are going towards another discussion about "dimensions" in his game. Why ? He is doing whatever he can which is clearly not enough because one guy can't carry the whole team. Not even Jordan was able to do that. If Kevin conttinues to play like this - I could care less about things that he isn't doing great because on this team - his one dimension is one more than all the other players bring these days. Not to mention that some of our players have already entered "negative space".
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss is losing it. Tonight - he might have even been sober because bringing Douby in the game at that point is something that even a drunk person wouldn't have done it. After 24 games - there is still no identity, no substitution patterns, nothing. Whatever he is saying is either totally useless or ignored. Either way - it sucks for us. If You are a coach and Your star player does to You what Ron did to him and You are only upset because You couldn't activate Mo Taylor:eek: on time - You have bigger problems that drinking.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Showing Kings on national television is very cruel these days. The suicide rates go up during holidays anyways. No need to "help out" Kings fans should be able to be upset about not being able to watch games these days. Much better than being able to wach what we saw tonight. Hell, we can put Kings games on different channels and actually do some good. For example - if You put a Kings game on a "food network" people will lose appetite or start throwing up. It would be an effective way to fight obesity.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
We lost to a better team that managed to lure us into playing their style, then exploded for a quarter and finished it nicely. Arenas didn't score 60 and Kevin did go for 40 but it didn't matter. It didn't matter that the stats are mostly even. What mattered is that they were comfortable the whole game . They knew what they were doing and we just watched the game slip away. It was just like a race between a ferarri and a Kia.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

Haywood gets the TDM award for looking like Shaq out there.
Kenny Thomas gets the LW-VC award because he sucked again. You could tell in the first quarter when he tried his fancy passes and when he missed those layups that it won't be a good night for him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Denver ios supposed to be next and it hopefully won't. Why spoil the holidays. For once - let's postpone the inevitable. We have no talent to compeate with them at home in after 3 days rest. How would ve do it in Denver on the back to back night. If we play - maybe Iverson will be rusty and he will have a bad night. But then again - he is well rested and he will be pumped up to play his first game in Denver. Either way - our chances aare pertty slim.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just want to wish the whole organisation including coach and players - happy holidays. I wish I had a reason to thank them for their performances this season but I don't. So have a merry christmas and thanks for nothing guys.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is always hard to win up there. Mello wont torch us but AI might. Camby might have a tripple double. They will try to run and if we run with them - it won't end well. TDM might go to Kleiza and LW-VC hopefully will go to the guy we all learned to hate - Najera. It might be another long night - but Sixers are next.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have a merry christmas and happy holidays

I just pray this game is postponed... The Nuggets are going to be so freaking hyped about the game, and with Bibby guarding Iverson he might just drop 60. And as always... Fantastic game thread.

You're way to hard on Kenny Thomas - He is easily the King's best post player. He consistantly grabs 12+ boards a game.

Thanks for the best quote ever Piksi:D

BTW Spurs-in what world does Kenny "consistently" grab 12+ boards? In his imaginary world? He inconsistently grabs boards if anything.

you guys are NUTS if you think this game is an easy win for denver.
You seen us play recently? We are one highly unlikely miracle finish from the only win in 11 games being over a Joe Johnsonless Hawks team on our home floor at the tail end of a long road trip for them. They barely showed.

I am hoping...well guess I am hoping, still have very mixed feelings about this whole pointless win gambit we've been locked in...in any case, our best hope is that the A.I. arrival severely disrupts a not so great team in the first place. Otherwise, on the road, on a back to back, in a place where we struggle, while we are not just struggling but collapsing, minus our best player, in the altitude with heavy minutes for our starters the night before...

I don't think there is one positive to say about the game.

Well...We get to see Iverson debut, and that will be fun until we are down by 25 midway through the second quarter.

This game has all the earmarks of a disaster for the Kings.

AI will be FRESH.

AI will be desperate to show the Sixers how STUPID they were to lose him.

AI will be fired up to show the Denver team and fans just how GREAT he is.

There will be NO Melo to take shots away from AI.

If, somewhere down the road, those two blow up the Nuggets, it certainly won't happen in Game 1, the HONEYMOON.

So, we are coming off a loss where we played like crap.

We have rumors circulating that the team is coming apart. (Yeah, rumors, but they have a negative force field anyway.)

Artest's knees are unknown.

We could arrive in Denver about 3 hours before game time, have to slog through old snow to get to the Arena.

And BIBBY STILL CAN'T MAKE HIS SHOTS!!!

Disaster waiting to happen tonight.

(Please let me be wrong!)

Oh, maybe Quincy Douby will bring the coach an apple and get to again take minutes away FROM OUR ONLY FREAKIN' PLAYER WHO'S PLAYING WELL!!!

Un-freakin'-believable.

Nuggest projected line-up from the Bee

3 Allen Iverson PG
5 Yakhouba Diawara F
43 Linas Kleiza F
21 Eduardo Najera F
23 Marcus Camby C

Who the heck are Diawara and Kleiza???

3 Forwards? I guess these guys are perimeter shooters who will happily stand around while Iverson dribbles the ball for 20 seconds and then passes to them only when he can't get the shot he wants. And they'll drain 3s...

Except for Najera. He's out there for pain. His defense is called "I can't guard you but I can knock you on your a$$ and maybe take you out of the game from an injury." I hate that guy.

I ratehr appreicate that attitude actually. ;)

Except when it crosses the line from just beating on you to see if you'll quit and enters the intentional injury type gray area of course.

Who the heck are Diawara and Kleiza???

As an aside, I would imagine that's why the Nuggets fan said this wouldn;t be an easy game -- that lineup is a mess wiht all the suspecnsions and whatnot.

Diawara is a rookie BTW. Not a very good one I think. Maybe Erik Daniels esque? Keliza is a just a smaller Najera -- hustler. scrapper, banger. Would have been a good match with Ron. Against Salmons its hard to see either he or Diawara staying with Kevin/John. Of course on the othe hand they might jsut stick a meaty forearm into one of our skinny boys' chests and send them flying, so should be interesting.

Hmm, Nene started the game against New York when he got the one game suspension (and thus hasn't played since). Is Najera still in the starting lineup? Diawara's actually a pretty good defender with sortof a shaky (think Doug Christie) outside jumper. Not a bad player though. Denver was my favorite team to watch before the Iverson trade. I don't know what they'll play like now, and we're going to have to wait 14 games to really find out now anyway.

Without a Marcus Camby starting that gives someone like say, third string center, and old friend, Jamal Sampson to have a 18 point, 10 rebound, 3 block performance off the bench.

He will then remain in the league, much like old friend Jerome James, because he has a knack at making the Kings look like a group of your schoolgirls on the court.

Ugh.

I'm as down on this team as anyone but even if by chance AI is on the floor(remember that Miller and Smith need to get to Boston to take their physicals prior to the Philly game with the Celtics) we should still beat this team. They will be without JR Smith, Melo & Camby. If we don't then we really do suck worse then I thought.

That joke of a brawl has really thrown everything into chaos. I have no idea who or what is going to out on the court there for Denver, and seemingly maybe neither do they. These may not even be the Nuggets we are facing -- could have their ENTIRE starting lineup that opened the season for them gone for this game. No Miller (obviously). No Smith. No Melo. No Martin. No Camby. What a joke. Has Nene decided to grace us with his bi -monthly appearance? So if A.I. is available then A.I./nobody/nobody/Najera/Nene 6th Boykins, 7th Evans. If no A.I. + no Nene then Boykins/nobody/nobody/Najera/Evans + no bench at all? How bizarre. An opponent we can actually beat. Watch Evans grab 30rebs on us and beat us though.

i wouldn't put it past this kings team, and it'd be a helluva story for the nuggets. "In the wake of the MSG Brawl, Nuggets' scrubs rise to the occasion in the face of adversity and trample all over the Sacramento Kings." i have a feeling the kings are gonna be the providers of all sorts of feel-good moments for other teams this season.

Considering how badly we have been playing, no one should get over-hyped about beating the Kings. ;)

I'd rather the game not be postponed. If we can't beat the Nuggets tonight, its doubtful we could later. I'd never want my team to intentionally lose, but I'm definitely not feeling like making the playoffs, only to get whupped in the 1st round. At this point, I'd rather have a shot at a decent draft position. Sad ain't it?:(

Iverson, Miller hoping to finally join new teams
Associated Press

DENVER -- Allen Iverson was on his way to Denver to join the Nuggets for his debut Friday night, but a few obstacles stood in his way: airport trouble, snow-covered roads and conditions of the trade involving the four-time scoring champion.

"We really don't know," said Mark Warkentien, Denver's vice president of basketball operations. "There are still a lot of variables."

Iverson's plane was supposed to touch down in Denver three hours before the tipoff in the game against the Sacramento Kings.

Iverson still has to undergo a physical and Andre Miller and Joe Smith have to report to Philadelphia and take physicals as well. Ivan McFarlin, who was also acquired by Denver in the trade Tuesday with the 76ers, doesn't factor into the equation since Denver has waived the physical requirements for him.

"Hypothetically, if A.I. and Andre pass their physicals and Joe doesn't, nobody can play," Warkentien said.

There's a time limit as well. Iverson has to report and clear his physical an hour before the game. That's when the active roster is due.

However, the game time may be pushed back since Sacramento is having trouble arriving into town. Denver International Airport has been closed the last two days due to a blizzard, and just recently reopened Friday afternoon.

Warkentien said the Kings were going to avoid flying into Denver and land in Colorado Springs, which is about 70 miles south of Denver. With all the problems on the roads, it may take the Kings extra time to arrive at the Pepsi Center.
