On April 4th 2004 Kings won in Houston to improve to 53-23 for that season. Kings had a slow start and trailed by 7 at the half. Then Kings had a different kind of kool aid (RA recipe must have tasted differently) because Kings won the 3rd by 17 and that was pretty much it. Pedja lead the Kings with 28/11/3/3st, Webber had 19/8/6/2/2, DC had 17/4/6/4, Vlade had 10/3/6/3 and Mike had 8/3/4/2. Peeler had 9 and Darius had 8 off the bench. RA played his favorite 7 man rotation.
The Sacramento Kings needed to stop their slide. The best way to do that was to get their best shooter, Peja Stojakovic, some open looks at the basket. Stojakovic scored 11 points in a 13-0 third-quarter run to help push the Kings to a 99-94 victory over the Houston Rockets that snapped a two-game slide.
"We ran some different things for him," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "We tried to run him off more people. It's not easy getting him open when a guy like Jimmy (Jackson) is staying right with him. We pushed the ball more where Jimmy wasn't quite set defensively."
The Kings trailed, 58-50, early in the third quarter when Stojakovic hit a jumper from the left baseline. Following two free throws by Mike Bibby, Stojakovic scored nine straight points to put Sacramento up, 63-58, with 5:24 left.
"We just made a commitment to do it," Kings forward Chris Webber said.
"We did a pretty good job of moving the ball and people movement," said Stojakovic, who made 9-of-15 shots and pulled down 11 rebounds. "Jimmy's a good defender. I know he's going to try to play physical."
Adelman played the 6-10 Webber at center against Houston's 7-5 Yao Ming for much of the fourth quarter.
"As long as we were ahead we were going to run things through Chris, occupy Yao Ming and maybe get some things at the basket," Adelman said. "Peja ended getting that layup because Yao wasn't there."
Webber, playing in just his 17th game of the season since returning from a knee injury, looked more like the former All-Star. He totaled 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
"That's my game right there," Webber said. "That's my shot. I'll take that all day."
Adelman was happy to see Sacramento end its slump after losing four of its previous five games.
"It's huge," he said. "We've been struggling so much, with our injuries (Brad Miller and Bobby Jackson), being on the road. We needed to get a win to jump start the rest of our season."

Kings obviously dropped yet another game during their spring sale with the motto - "lin is a lin" - making it 3rd straight and 11 out of the last 13 games. Now that is how You make a strong statement. Kings are 6 games behind the Clippers for the 8th spot but we faced Dallas last night and everything was said in that one already. On the brighter side Kings are 9th in the lottery race and there is still room for improvement and things look good in that direction considering the tonight's back to back in Denver.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Magic number is down to 5 even though - it is just a formality. With a little luck the number can go down to 3 tonight because we will probably get a lin in Denver and Clippers on a 3 days rest are hosting Lakers who are in their 2 night of back to back. Usually, a captain is supposed to go down with his ship but in this case the captain is doing everything to survive regardless of the passengers and the crew. But as he said recently - "You've still got to go out there and play like you're trying to win a championship," he said Sunday night after the loss to the Lakers. "That's what you're paid to do. You've got to have some kind of integrity to go out there and play hard." so what else can we expect - right ? To me it looks like we "go out there" and play like we have to face a firing squad. As for what he is paid for - that is really a mistery to me ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
We lost 11 out of last 13 games and that is not easy considering that most of the teams that we faced were in some way shorthanded. Even a guys who developed the theory of big numbers just shakes his head and says - " I got nothing" Makes You wonder because as bad as this team is - and it is pretty bad - You would expect more than 2 wosses in 13 tries. In fact - right now - You give me one legged Webber, retired Vlade, rehabing Pedja, sucky Bibby, YMCA Doug, towel waving Pollard, struggling Hedo and half operating Bobby. You give me unemployed RA and You give me 4 weeks (which is about 3 team practices if lucky considering that the chances of all of them to be healthy at the same time are poor but still better than chances of this team to make it to the POs). That "senior citizen team" would win at least 3 out of those 13 games. That is how big the drop off of the talent we have had as well on the floor as on the bench also. Good job.

This gets me to another quote from last night if I am not mistaking.
"You've just got to keep going," Abdur-Rahim said. "We're not mathematically out of it yet, so you have to keep fighting. After that, you just have to be professional and finish the season."
Not a shocker that SAR was one that said this since he used this phrase in every but one year of his career. In fact if You wake him up at 3 am this would be the first sentence he might same. If he speaks in his sleep - that is what he is saying. Only player on this team that still believes in this is Ron Artest and that is mostly because he is really bad at math. Everyone else has already planing or even booking vacations. And if the last night's game is an indication of "fighting" - please just stop.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
KT is done for the season. If we take aside the fact that he wears Kings uniform and that we really never want to see an athlete hurt - we could argue that he was done for the season in training camp when he showed up with same size, same set of skills and same attitude. It is totally irrelevant and he will be back in Kings uniform for many years to come so we will have an overdose of him in the future. The bigger problem is that this misfortunate circumstance still won't open any PT for Justin Williams especially since John Salmons has shown promise as PF battling Kwarme Brown
. In fact - Muss would rather play with 4 players on the floor than let Justin get a chance.

To add an insult to an injury tonight's gane is on BSPN which makes me issue
WALTON ALERT !
Since UCLA is done he has nothing better to do and he also hasn't done a game in a while. What the hell happened to Tom Tolbert anyways ? No need to emphasize that we will get our share of abuse in the studio but my biggest question - who wants to see yet another blowout ? They could have shown LAL-LAC game which starts just 30 minutes later. No big deal since all those clowns like to hear themselves speak anyways. The BSPN program director should be shot.

Coach's corner is sponsored by Oxygen Supplies & Access, Altitude Inc., and Miele Vacuum Cleaners. Muss was totally unprepared for the absence of Dirk Nowitzki. During the whole game our players were looking for Dirk to double team and in doing that - they left everyone else open. We lost by 4, missed 12 FTs. Didn't play bad - really but we aren't good enough to beat Mavs without their best player at ARCO. That is a very sad reality. Being down 97-90 Muss drew up the 7 pt play go get us in the overtime and unfortunately yet again it did not work. He also yet again failed to let kids play more minutes. Not to forget - Dallas went on a 13-0 run at the end of 1st - beginning of the 2nd quarter. Didn't look like Muss was aware of that.
-------------------------------------------------------------
After the Spurs, Mavs also swept the season series. Easy 3 wins and a nail biter. They didn't even need Dirk for this one. In fact - Mavs only used 3 players to beat us. Over the whole game it looked like we were right there but the fact is that there wasn't any doubt who would win the game mostly because Mavs looked like a team that is desperate for a win and Kings like a team that is desperate for a lin. Everione went home happy.

AWARD TIME
No TDM award tonight. If there was one - it would have gone to George.
LW - VC award: Well first of all the life achievement award in this category - I gave to George just because I can. For tonights game - Kenny Thomas mostly because it was the last opportunity for him to get one this season. 1-4 from the field, 4-8 from the line.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nuggets are next and it should be an easy one for them since we are tired, unmotivated and have to play at an altitude. They did us pretty good last time at ARCO and they are still trying to catch Lakers. We on the other hands are going there just to probably showcase our ugly golden uniforms. It is going to be fugly but it will end up with a lin.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - who is he not going to guard tonight ?
Ron - at least one decent player on this dead team
Kevin - fading away
Brad - if he could score and rebound in double figures - he would be a double double threat every night
SAR - maybe next season
-----------------------------------------------------------------
rest - mateen
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - kool aid flavor of the night - snow
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mello and AI are playing better. With healthy Camby and Nene - they are pretty dangerous. Kleiza will yet again win the TDM award. LW-VC and JH-KT award will be reserved for the Kings. Seriously - we should just forfeit this one. Not worth wasting kerosine. A blowout lin - it is.
