And why would he want to come here? This is the risk of sucking.
Yeah, but it could also be a matter of who sucks more. By record, this team is better than than NJ 19-24 (SAC record) vs 19-26 (NJ record) (which is close to the same record).
However, the Kings team hasn't reached their full potential as a healthy unit. Someone has always been out (Bibby, Artest, Martin) which could be a difference maker in the wins column. The core of players who have been healthy (Salmons, Garcia, Miller, Moore, 5th would be Udrih, but he missed time too) could be a good complement to Kidd. And by good I mean the Kings would most likely suck less than what NJ is doing. Mr. Triple Double deserves better than being on a team headed nowhere. If Kidd doesn't move, chances are he will not make the playoffs unless NJ pulls the trigger making a big trade. If Kidd does move, he will be a difference maker no matter where he ends up.
All I was stating is that Kidd said he wanted out of NJ according to AP news articles. It's debatable whether the Kings would suck as much with Kidd, personally I'd much rather have him over Bibby and I'd give up Artest (time bomb? debatable, but right now he's more of a help than hurt) too since he's most likely gone at the end of the season anyways.
I think that Kidd could help in two problem area with the Kings. He would help out in assists (Kings currently 29th out of 30th in APG, with the same rank in -assist differential). Also Kidd would be a rebounding improvement over Bibby or Udrih (Sac being 29th in number of boards and 25th in differential). The King's team is full of shooters (Martin, Cisco, Moore, Miller arguably others too) but lacks a producer like Kidd (Salmons, Udrih, and Miller are the closest to being producers), Udrih as the point guard (top Kings assist player; Bibby has basically same average) gets only half half the assists per game compared to Kidd (10.4 compared to 4.3).
Risk of sucking yes, but there's a chance by being on any other team Kidd could be a difference maker rather than being in NJ, which at their current rate will end the season with a losing record.
