Kings/Miami/Portland idea

Combining the rumors (and clearing the decks):

Kings outgoing:
Brad Miller
Kenny Thomas
John Salmons
Shelden Williams
Bobby Jackson

Kings incoming:
Shawn Marion
Raef LaFrentz
Channing Frye

Miami outgoing:
Shawn Marion
Marcus Banks

Miami incoming:
Brad Miller
Kenny Thomas
Shelden Williams

Portland outgoing:
Raef LaFrentz
Channing Frye

Portland incoming:
John Salmons
Marcus Banks
Bobby Jackson

Why for the Kings: Kings clear a huge amount of salary, with Brad, Kenny and Salmons cleared for expirings and just taking back Frye, who could perhaps regain his NYK form backing up JT and Hawes. This would give the Kings something like $27 million in cap room this offseason, which means the Kings have some serious room to either sign free agents or deal.

Why for Miami: they clear the decks for the 2010 offseason and unload Marcus Banks' deal.

Why for Portland: now that they're on the hook for Miles, cap room isn't as important short term. They get the quality and defensive veteran SF they need, but have to take back Marcus Banks, who could actually be good for them at PG.

I would love dumping that much dead weight in one trade. However, at the same time - I think we need more for Brad and Salmons. More from Portland's side and def. some picks for sure.

I also don't know if I could handle Raef  in a Kings uni, even if it is for only a few months...

Oops...didn't see this and posted a variation in the otherthread.

I like this, but I don't like Frye. I'd rather have a chance of Petrie drafting a player in the 20's than pulling in Frye. I just don't like his game.

Your variation is better actually. I don't know that Portland would take Banks on for a 1st, but if they did, that would be the better deal.
