This is still Geoff's offseason to reaffirm his greatness. He's not an idiot yet. To be fair he can't lose the genius title until we see what he does, or does not do. And still a lot of time to do things. He created this mess, and claimed (albeit maybe just face-saving) that he did it for flexibility. Better have. Because it certainly didn't help the product on the floor. So if he was telling the truth, then this should be the offseason where we start to see the results of that flexibility.
That said, the obvious concern is that Geoff has gotten one-dimensional and overly attached to jump shooters (and one in particular). Even the good moves of recent years have always netted the same soft, jumpshooting style of player at every position. Its not by accident our team looks like it does, and Rick Adelman is not the guy acquiring the talent.
Now, if Geoff sets that aside, if he's aggressive and innovative, he can still make this roster into something with promise. We are not out of talent yet, and still have many more pieces than do the Hornets. Its just a question of whether all of those pieces are really on the board, and whether Geoff understands the urgency of changing things up. If he does, history has shown that he has a way of slithering around the league into nooks and corners to find guys who are available that maybe you didn't even know are available.
Not quite time to abandon ye all hope just yet. But its very clear to many/most that things could go badly here. No need for it too -- almost anything should be possible with a top GM working with our talent base. Just a question of whether the front office has vision (and of course what that vision may be).
