On January 24th 2003 Kings LOST 104-115 (thats right. it seems to be a trend these days) @ Hawks, suffering a loss after an early lead. (another trend this season.) Their defense was shoddy at best, while the Hawks had a rainstorm from behind the arc. They were 10-17 from range as they pulled away in the third (seems eerily famliar?)
Sacramento lost despite a huge game by Chris Webber, who had 32 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, dished out six assists and made two steals. But Webber also committed nine turnovers as the Hawks stepped up their defensive pressure in the second half."We can only blame ourselves,''
Webber said. "I had nine turnovers. That's unacceptable. I'll be sure to make up for it.''Stojakovic had 24 points as both teams shot 50 percent from the field. The Kings started quickly, going ahead 26-15 when Vlade Divac hit a 3-pointer with 3:56 left in the first quarter.
The Hawks trailed 57-49 at halftime and didn't take their first lead until Corey Benjamin's (who?) dunk with 6:52 left in the third. Abdur Rahim ended his streak of double-doubles at seven, finishing with 11 points and 9 rebounds... Glenn Robinson led his team with 29 and Jason Terry triggered the onslaught of 3s going 5-8 from downtown.

So the Kings lost the Hornets in one of those enternaining, to-the-wire finishes--for the other teams fans. For us Kings fans, it has just become a rerun. You now expect these Kings to lose close games. While I am too much of a fan to jump on the tank bandwagon, I can see how it makes sense (and cents) both from a business standpoint and for the future. The way I see it is there is no way this team is going to win a championship, and the administration should stop trying to live on dust trails of the one great shot they had to bring it all home. Blow it up, try to win games, trade higher priced veterans for young guys and draft picks. Sure, we will look like the Celtics or the Hawks for a few years, but eventually, we mature and evolve, like Chicago, Utah, New Orleans, or even Toronto.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well now our little "should win" part of the schedule is over and the "shouldn't win, but there will be one surprise" part of the schedule wins. I doubt that surprise will be against Dallas.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin Martin. He needs to have the ball. I know Bibby prides himself on being clutch, which he is no doubt, but how is K$ supposed to develop into a star if he doesn't get a decent amount of shots? I would also rather have him make/miss the final shot. Its a good learning experience.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KT followed up his best game of the season with a repeat of all the other games he has played. I guess he needs some 10-day from the Bucks or Luke Walton guarding him to look like any decent basketball player should. Unfortunately, Luke won't be defending him every night. I wish Pat Riley was the coach. For one of his half-time speeches, he got a big bucket of ice-water and stuck his head in. He stayed that way for quite a while, and when he finally emerged, he gave his team a long, hard, look and simply said "Pull your head out." Kenny, please listen, shut uo and play. Or leave.

Coaches Corner- An Area to document some of Musselman's dumb mistakes.
Substitution pattern. Muss- The Kings aren't built to go small. To go small, you must be fast, intense, and accurate. With the Kings severely lacking in this area, why not let Shareef take it inside against West. Oh yea--- Chandler. Brad hits a fg, maybe Chandler comes out to guard him, and therefore draws him away from the paint. Why did Salmons play so many minutes? Are we back to the 8-man rotation? I understand our bench isn't deep, but if someone isn't trying hard enough to produce, i am betting there are the Prices and the Williams and the Douby's who are itching to give it a shot.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't understand why Bobby doesn't start for the Hornets if they are missing their starting backcourt.I guess he played the same amount of minutes as Brown, but he was much more productive. Maybe its just a sympathetic heart speaking. You can really see how dangerous this team can get with everyone healthy.

AWARD TIME
TDM goes to Bobby, who played a really good game. Really lit up the Kings during one stretch.
LW-VC award goes to West because he looked like he wanted to play for the Kings
JHA goes to Garcia, who played a full quarters worth of minutes but found a way to contribute nothing to my fantasy team.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Up Next-Dallas. Kingsfans. Brace yourselves. TDM Favorite is Buckner, LVC favorite is someone from the Kings frontcourt.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - Better I guess
Ron - bad game offensively, but cmon---Desmond Mason?
Brad - what happened to the near triple-double Brad we all came to know and love.
Kevin - way to snap out, find a way to make defenders pay more
----------------------------------------------------------------------
KT - just stop
Cisco - come on. Something?
Salmons - take the good with the bad
Rest- I don't think Muss knows you are on the team
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - substitution means 'replacement' not just a different mix. your Small ball line up is like skyy and mustard juice. they don't mix.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mavericks - May be the best team in the league. Hurts to see Cuban do so well
