Do you remember Artest's first game in the Kings uni? I think it was in Boston. Immediate impact right out the gate. Just an overall disruptor on defense. Him and Bonzi were unstoppable on the wings. I'd kill for a guy like that. Hell, I'd kill for a guy who gave 40% of what vintage Artest gave.
Vintage Artest was a very unique player who didn't get as much credit as he deserved because of his behavior and because his peak was relatively short. A DPOY quality wing (you have to be flat out dominant to even get consideration for that achievement as a wing player) who can also score 20 ppg is the great white whale that every basketball franchise is looking for. It would be an understatement to say that those types of players are few and far between. It would be more accurate to say there's only 1 in each generation. I don't see a single wing player in the league right now who's close to Artest as a defender, nevermind the scoring part.
