Stern, from press conference: I'm out here as part of a series of visits to deal with the arena situation. We start with a widely held view as follows:

The Maloofs VERY MUCH want the Kings to remain part of the city. Everybody in the city would like the teams - monarchs and Kings - to stay and be part of the city wehre they provide so much joy, entertainment and representation.

With the quality of support the team has received and the job the Maloofs have done, it's in the interest of the Maloof family and Sacramento AND the NBA to keep the teams here in Sacramento.

(Had to paraphrase but that was the gist...)

Stern also put down those who thought it was a dog and pony show to hide the fact the Maloofs wanted to move the team and made it clear he has better things to do than stuff like that. He said the Kings/Monarchs marriage with the city of Sacramento is too good to be lost without making every possible attempt at getting this resolved. He said he'll be working with others and they will develop a plan of some kind.
