Dude that old thread is HILARIOUS!!! Gary is leading the Evans hate charge, said he would bust GUARANTEED. I'm HOOOOOWLING!!!!!!

Hahaha yeah its funny to read all that now... and I'm glad I was one of the few defending the Evans pick on that thread. :p

I wasn't a KF.com'er last year so I missed out. To be honest I liked Tyrekes game for our team because in the days leading up to the draft I did a lot of research on him. But I really questioned the logic if getting him and potentially making K Mart worried. Well it looks like it worked out better then we all thought though. Don't get me wrong I have always liked Rubio (when I saw him in the olympics I said damn who is this kid?!) but I thought Evans was going to be a great slasher. Absolutely no qusetioning that pick one year later, even if Rubio lives up to his potential.

Yeah, I don't doubt Rubio CAN be a good player someday. But Tyreke is already a superstar in the making. I just couldn't see Rubio being able to contribute anytime soon in the NBA with his skinny frame and raw overall skills. Rubio made a good choice in staying in europe for a couple more years. Tyreke is the opposite of that and has such gifts in his handles, speed, size and ability to get to the hoop.

There were a few posters, quite a few actually, who were bashing the Evans pick. I personally wasn't posting at the time but when I heard the pick I was surprised that Rubio wasn't the guy. However, there is one poster in particular who declared that Evans was going to be horrible, was going to sink the franchise (ahem...20-5-5...ahem) and was going to force the team to move. And it is just so LAUGHABLE to read how vehemently the topic was pursued by this one poster. If I were him, I would be one embarrased crow eating dude.

Yeah, but those threads are always full of emotion and knee jerk reactions. That's part of the fun of being part of the discussion in the moment.

Now if someone repeated those same claims over and over for weeks after the draft, then I can see serving up crow on a stick.

I don't think he made a good choice staying, at least as far as his NBA career goes. He would've been much better off with an NBA strength and conditioning program, and it starts his adjustment period earlier. I doubt he regrets it though because I'm sure the experience he had this year winning the Euroleague was a priceless one for him.

Evans was definitely the more ready pick at that time, and proved to be even more ready in hindsight.

I just read thru all 42 pages of that old thread. All I can say is 'hindsight is 20/20'. I almost feel bad for the Evans bashers. Almost.

I am not saying that his word is born, but Dick Vitale just said on ESPN that any team passing on Cousins at the 3, 4, 5 is a BIG mistake. He said the talent DC possesses is remarkable...

And I agree...

I just don't want to put too much expectation on Cousin because I don't want to break my computer if we don't get him... I'm so nervous, I can't wait to see who we pick.

There were quite a few of us that were on the Evans bandwagon prior to the draft. Kingster, myself, Bebop I believe, and some others. I can't remember all the names. Needless to say that Gary was not in our group. I will say one thing for Gary though, he was consistent..

One has to wonder what might have happened if Kahn hadn't drafted Flynn, and then followed that up by signing Sessions. He didn't exactly make Rubio feel like he was the main guy he wanted. Especially after Rubio wasn't all that thrilled about playing in the frigid north..

I'm looking at my reaction to the draft last year... I feel so foolish. No matter what happens this year I'm going to stay positive... well, I'll try at least.

There were also a number of people that on May 19th thought we had zero chance of having Cousins drop to us. True, hindsight is 20/20, but I wish people would think a little more before speaking, or typing.

I don't mind anyone putting forth an arguement most don't agree with, I love a debate. But too often people say some pretty asinine things before thinking.

Yeah, consistently bashing Tyreke. He did kinda go overboard, stating he was gonna be a bust and that he would set this franchise back (ahem...20-5-5..ahem) and all other sorts of laughable stuff that went on pretty much all year. Its almost as if Reke put his quotes on his locker and read them before hitting the court every night. :D
