Hall of Famer
After almost 2 weeks of good time it is time to get back to reality which is little bit different. I hope, You had good and safe holidays and didn't gain too much weight. I had a great time and even lack of internet couldn't spoil that. I watched some BB and I have to admit - I cheated on Kings a bit by watching 2 Hornets games. I discovered 3 things watching those games. First, it is much easier to enjoy the game when You are not caring who will win the game, when You are not hoping that one team will play great and the other will suck. The second thing I realized watching Lebron and CP3 play - there isn't really anything wrong with a high draft pick. The last thing that is obvious - there is plenty of garbage floating in the NBA. I watched Antoine Walker play PG for 6 minutes and it was a mixture of tragedy, comedy and science fiction in a worst way. I watched Larry Hughes suck it up pretty bad and it is much worse in person than on TV. I missed Kings game against Celtics and Sixers and I blame it on Linas Kleiza. It just got too much to handle.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back to present in which Kings are one of 30 undefeated teams in 2008. After getting swept on the 4 games home stand to end a pathetic 2007 - Kings hold an 11-18 record which is 9 best non playoff record 7.5 games behind Wolves who won't win 11 games if they play themselves until the end of the season. Going 0-4 on a 4 game home stand is something that even Muss couldn't accomplish meaning that - it didn't happen at least since 1998. Suddenly, Kings are playing .500 at home and the overall record shows it. It is also the first 4 game losing streak of the season and if Knicks don't cooperate - it could get very ugly.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
After 5-9 in November and a 6-8 in December - January is threatening to be very very ugly.We start with 3 games on the road where Knicks, Cavs and Bulls combined with our injuries will probably be too much to handle even though Kincks are Knicks. Then we have another 4 games home stand including Magic, Grizzlies, Pacers and Mavs which we might split at best. Then we have couple 2 games 3 game road trips in between single home games. Raptors, Pacers and Pistons and then we host the Nets. Second set includes Clips, Jazz and Sonics before ending the Month with Bobcats as a beginning of a 5 games home stand. So, basically depending on injuries we are looking at around 3-12 which would be the worst month in a long time (a year) but it would get us into a top 5 best non playoffs team at least. It will be a long January.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
New Year resolutions aren't my thing because I can't change from December 31st to January 1st. There just isn't enough time. So for years now I have one standing resolution - not to make any - and I keep it every year. Lings could use some because things just have to change. We need a commitment of the Timberwolves, we need to get younger and cheaper. New Arena would be nice too. If I tried harder - I could think up some more but what is the point. 2008 has got to be different from 2007 because - how many more of 2007 could we really handle ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
And since we are unable do be anything else but a decent mediocre team at full strength - the "karma" has given us a great opportunity the only way it knows how - trough injuries. This is still Kings - remember. So now we can lose a bunch and when we get healthy we can look for trades and start over - anything else is "negligence." we have the best inactive list roster of all time (Kevin, Mike, SAR, Ron). On the other hand our active roster is as deep as Rob Schneider's movies. Let me put it this way for You - we are only one more injury away from KT starting and Justin maybe even playing double digit minutes. Maybe GP should start searching in the jails and rehab centers for more talent.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Denver game was a killer and it looks like we just collapsed in every which way. We went from a mediocre 11-14 over Linas Kleiza to 11-18 which is looking much more promising. I knew that he would hit it and I assume most of You saw it coming too. Maybe that is just what we needed here but it made me lose appetite and brought up many bad memories. It was a cruel joke of a bad Santa wishing us a marry Christmas. Maybe one day we will talk about that play as a good thing. And during the Suns game I was expecting Pharaoh to hit a half court shot:rolleyes:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Looking for any positive things - we do have some guys that can put some good numbers on a losing team. We are at the point where Mikki is on of the best players on the team and thinking about that one - 11-18 doesn't look too bad at all. Basically, if a good defensive team wants to defend us for 48 minutes - we will have some more of the "below 70" type of games. For example - we beat Pistons @ ARCO in November and we will pay a visit to Detroit in couple weeks and it won't be pretty. There are more examples but You get the point.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Suns game wasn't too bad considering the circumstances. We were there for 3/4 because of out good effort and Suns not taking us very serious. Can You imagine - Barbosa had a great game again ? Who could have predicted it ? Looking at the box score - we lost it at the 3pt line - we went 5-23 and I am wondering at what point will someone realize that - it isn't a good idea. Amare had 10 offensive rebounds but that is a given.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

No TDM tonight. There weren't many candidates to begin with considering the tight rotation that Suns play.

LW-VC goes to Boris Diaw. Too bad they didn't need him.

Spencer gets the JHA award because he had one more rebound than KT

SAR-Methuselah award went again to KT for nothing in 7 minutes

WTF moment(s) of the game - Kings 3 pt shooting. Have You ever watch a bird trying to fly trough a closed window over and over again ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Knicks suck and as You can see - there is nothing new here. Despite such a regular appearance (Knicks sucking) - we haven't done too well there even when we were really good. So tomorrow night we are the underdogs and that is not good because if there is one team that can lose to short handed Kings team - it would be Knicks. In fact - Knicks are capable of losing to Jackson's 5 at any give night and Tito would have a triple double before Isaiah signs him for 100 million $. Also they could lose to Reggie Miller and 4 other guys who never played BB. It is the Knicks. If Kings lose this one - the losing streak might climb in double digits. Kings will play hard and that game might be close but I think - even Knicks can't screw this one up - can they ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike, Kevin, SAR and Ron - get well soon
Salmons - he might be our best player
Cisco - somebody has to get numbers but i am not sold on him because - he is Cisco
Brad - decent
Mikki - in his element. Numbers are there but so are the losses.
QD - needs to contribute more. Been disappointing so far
Hawes -same as QD
Justin - more PT
rest - garbage
Coach T - doing all he can with what he has which isn't enough for Euroleague right now.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Knicks are a pathetic franchise. Their record is 8-21. They lost 10/12 and 4 in a row. They are 7-10 at home. In the Eastern Conference - that is a team in the PO hunt. They desperately need a win which means they probably won't get it. SFM might be back just for us. No one knows what lineup that will start. They have a lunatic in charge and it is sad to watch. We know that David Lee will get his. We also know that QRich won't. TDM goes to Balkman, LW-VC goes to QRich. rest as needed. If Kings win this - i will be as surprised as I was when Kleiza hit that shot.

Good to have you back, piksi. Glad you enjoyed your holidays. Venom_7 did an admirable job for you, but he cannot create piksi-isms, as only you can.

I say we start off the season with a win in NY. We will simply ignore the fact that 3 of our starters are not playing.

Who we start or don't start barely matters in this one -- the Knicks just flat out do not show up for 2/3 of their games, and the least little bit of adversity, and they just quit and go home to suck on their pacifiers. If by some freak occurence they should actually show up to play, we could easily lose. But most nights they barely qualify as professionals, and I think would love to play all of their games on the road to escape an absolutely venomous Garden crowd.

Sorry for the off-topic but when is Mike coming back?
As for the game,I really hope that our team can win and create some positive atmosphere early in this year.

Sorry for the off-topic but when is Mike coming back?

The middle of the month is projected. It could be a little earlier, but I don't think we'll know for sure until we see him suited up for a game.
