Kings interested in purchasing Sac Republic FC

I would love for the Kings owners to buy the Republic FC. The games are sold out and sooner or later we're moving to the MLS. It would be a great investment being as the Sac area is #1 in the USA in youth soccer #s. We should have had a team a long time ago. I wouldn't mind just taking Chivas and rebranding them to Republic FC and then go from there. We need a new arena though. Hughes won't cut it and the 8000 is too small.

VR and the others involvement would be big for Sac's chances. I think it is one way to make Sac's "unsexiness" sexy, pairing with an NBA team. Especially if the Kings get decent again.

I really wish Sac had done this two years ago instead of waiting until 2014 when the league is so close to it's 24 team cap (may as well make it 28-32 ASAP and split into two regional leagues, play balanced schedules and a champions league between them).

24 teams is such a strange number to cap at artificially.

Well, you can only deal with the here and now, and right now the opportunity to get into the MLS is staring VR in the face. Hope he junps on it because it appears his interest in MLS has vaulted Sac into the top of the expansion discussion.

Hearing rumors that Kings might be interested in buying Chivas. Hopefully that means moving the team here and bypassing the whole expansion competition for Sacramento.

I assume that they would have to buy Republic FC as well as Chivas in order to keep the FC brand. But Rumors are that the Chivas are up for sale (league owned team) and have no place to play after this year. It wouldn't make sense to fold the team when there are markets that want them. I assume that since we have already proven that we can sell out every game in a AA league (two divisions below MLS) then we shouldn't have issues selling out a MLS game in a 25k stadium.

Yes, it makes sense. All the chatter has increased since Vivek threw his hat in the rink. I suspect that he wouldn't allow his name to be attached unless he knew something and expected to win. Granger is meeting with MLS officials this week if he hasn't already and according to Sacbee.com, MLS officials will be in Sac next month to look at stadium sites. This could all come together very quickly if I'm reading the tea leaves correctly.
