Oh great. One of our dancers doesn't even know enough about the team to know who Chris Webber is/was? Instead of making you feel old, it should have made her feel incredibly stupid. Without pointing any fingers or naming any names, perhaps the incredibly stupid boat had already sailed? ;)

Geez.

lol... she did look a little embarrassed. My husband pointed out that many of our dancers may be so young they weren't Kings fans back then... sad thought, but part of me feels that if someone can't name the jersey numbers of say, Webb, Vlade, Christie & Pedja, well, maybe they just shouldn't put on the uniform... :o But that's just me.....

I would like to get confirmation of that form somebody, you know, sane.

Just for what it's worth, it was the following quote in 10-30-07 BEE (the newspaper) on page four of the Kings 07-08 season review: "Ron Artest said he had the same ligament surgery as Bibby while in Indiana and returned after two weeks despite an expected absence of 10 weeks."

This was part of a breakdown of all the Kings players and it went on to say, "That would be the extreme (meaning MUCH less than 10-12 weeks) but perhaps Bibby can return early and salvage his season."

I saw trhe inital quote too -- I mean that I would like some confirmation of the underlying fact who's source is not Ron Artest's. Was it REALLY the same surgery? Same severity? Was Ron remotely effective? Etc.

I don't know, but you'd think the BEE (article by Amick) would not print it unless it was checked out and confirmed as true:p

The only other thing I can say is, when it's the off-hand at least that's better than the shooting hand(thumb). Of course, even the off-hand is critical to support/balancing the ball for shooting and dribbling for a PG. The fact that it was a single tendon and not a couple tendons is a half-full instead of half-empty way of looking at it.

I did not say that Bibby was a wimp, just that I do believe Artest is tougher overall and not as injury prone. Not to slight Bibby, but he has been more apt to get injured and I worry every time I see him lounging on the bench nail clipper constantly in hand giving himself a personal manicure in the middle of the game. He never did that at UofA because Coach Olson would not allow it - demanding 100% attention paid to action on the court.

Dude, Mike Bibby has been one of the league's great ironmen. This is Mike's 10th year, and he's missed more than 2 games in a season only ONCE in all that time. His game line: 50 of 50 (strike year), 82, 82, 80, 55 (the injury year in 02-03), 82, 80, 82, 82.

That is an incredible record for anyone in this league. I've always thought of Bibby as an ironman. He has never let minor injuries stop him.

I'm not sure "great ironmen" is warranted simply based on the reality of missing 55 games in 02-03 and now an estimated 39 games in 07-08. Maybe "decent" or "good," but when missing two-thirds of one season and then missing about half of another season it seems to reward it as "great" is a bit too generous. Again, I'm not trashing Bibby, who I regard as a very good NBA player - just not a great one.

I don't think you have a realistic respect for those numbers. This injury -- who knows. Maybe it starts the decline. But Mike's record for the poast 9 years puts him easily into the Top 5% of all NBA players durability wise. Easily. Let alone major minute started every game of his life and plays 35+min players. Everybody gets an ankle sprain or whatnot and misses time. Not Mike. Like basically ever. One freak injury. Now another. And inbetween nary a day off.

Certianly though I don't see how you could possibly compare his record to Artest's, who;s been in the league 8 years and only broken 70 games in half of them. Even setting aside the suspensions, he's much more likely to break down. He's got the better growl, but Boibby has been the far better endurance runner.
