Huh? He contested that last 3 as well as anyone can, Korver is just in a zone. And he made most of those threes either in transition or with someone else guarding him. I actually thought Ben played rather well tonight defensively.

No matter the how good a defense the coach is, it cannot make up for a roster who actually cannot play defense. It's been happening for years now. Just wish overhauling the roster would be easy. Not that I don't mind that the Kings lose, I mean we've been losing for years now. But losing with no effort, at least on the defensive end, is something I will loose patience with eventually. To add to that, ball movement just stopped in this quarter. Selfish play from a bunch of selfish players on our team.

Maybe, someone could teach him how to sub while he teaches defense. He hasn't been a head coach long.

IT somehow manages to put up 20 and 10 and give back all of that and more.

I'd love to see a breakdown of how many points came directly from his man blowing right by him and either scoring or finding a guy wide open.

Other than maybe managing his rotations/ sub patterns to achieve a more balanced starting lineup vs bench lineup I don't see how you can fault coach Malone on this one. IT gets torched on D and has been that way since the beginning of time. Talk all you want about team D but if you don't have good individual defensive players you're just forcing the other team into their second option as opposed to their first.

Definitely too early. This isn't a Keith Smart situation. Mike Malone has done as much right as he's done wrong. Some of his rotation decisions are a bit confusing but does anyone here actually think this is a balanced roster?
We debated this at length all off-season and some people never got it. You may be able to improve a bad defensive team a bit but if you are horrible, slightly less horrible doesn't really do much.

It makes you wonder what a guy like Jeff Hornacek would do with this team.

The problem is, that was our motto before the season, then we ended up trading our two best defenders in The Prince and Salmons (as bad as he is, he was our 2nd best perimeter defender) 1/4 into the season.

I still don't understand their obsession with him. Last year I assumed it was Maloof related PR nonsense but the fact it hasn't stopped is puzzling. Of course, there are posters on here that do the same, but it isn't their job to get it.
Quite possibly the most annoying sentiment frequently shared on this board. No one is laying all of the blame on IT but as the pg that frequently fails to get teammates involved and is the initial breakdown on defense on the majority of plays, he is deserving of a huge part of it.
IT fans always want to point to his effeciency stats and how he is a legit #2 but never want him to get any criticism when he impacts a loss.
