Inside Hoops rumors section says so via Yahoo Sports. And, a couple other rumors as well.

League sources say the Sacramento Kings also have discussed a package that would include sending Kevin Martin to the Suns for Stoudemire. Yahoo

Cleveland isn't the only team that has shown some interest in Murphy. Sacramento and Milwaukee are two of "several" teams that have called about Murphy. A sticking point for the Pacers in dealing with talks involving Murphy is that they prefer a forward back in return because of how thin they are at that position. Indianapolis Star Blog

There's also mention of the Martin and Nocioni, for Allen. However, while Boston is interested in Martin, they aren't in Nocioni's contract, so that may be a sticking point.

Right before that line is :

The Heat have discussed several scenarios with the Suns, including packages that include combinations of young players (Michael Beasley, Dorell Wright) and expiring contracts (Jermaine O’Neal and Quentin Richardson). The Heat are also willing to part with their 2010 first-round draft pick. ”Nobody is pushing harder on this than Riley,” one league source said.

Beasley and 1st for Amare? go ahead and take him Pat.

Ha, is Pat that desperate to get Amare, I mean the Beast Beasley, that kid has a much bigger upside then Amare, I guess.

What I found interesting in Amicks trade blog piece today was that the Maloofs are really close to Amare. Thats the kind of connection we'll need in order to sign and keep a player that we dont draft.

Murphy is an underrated player. Hes good. I just hate him on this team.

if we landed Murphy i'd be convinced that petrie was actually trying to assemble the most un athletic front court in the NBA

Come on Joe and Gavin, lure Amare to Sacramento. Just dreaming but with Amare the Kings would be on there way. :D

If I knew for sure that Amare would resign in the summer with us then the deal would be a no brainer. He's talked about trying to win a championship but usually when it comes down to it players will usually take the money over the chance of a championship. The Kings would be in a position to pay him what he wants. I think he has some good years left in him but it's a huge risk in that he could walk this summer. I guess the worst thing that could happen is that we end up getting rid of KMart for salary cap which I guess isn't so bad.

This would be preferable to the likely sit on our hands approach. Is it my favorite move, not really. But at least we'd clear some space at the 2/3 and get a sneak peak before we have to make a long term commitment.

Please, no Murphy. I'd be interested in Amare, if Geoff thought he could work a sign-and-trade involving Amare and someone else next year. I'm not really interested in Amare as a long-term solution.

The Maloofs may be close with him, but everything I've heard and read says that Amare is a Mercenary, a hired gun. Absolutely no loyalty. He goes where the money is.

I think Martin + JT + 2nd rounder will get it done.

Basically I like Amare for our team to run with Reke. Considering we will still get a defending big with Kenny Thomas' contract.

My other concerns would be how his knees hold up and the slim chance that he opts out. If you think about it, its really dumb for Amare to opt out this yr because he has to compete with too many big stars for the max $. There is only so many max contracts that will be given in this economy. If anything he should play out his contract and do the FA thing next season when there is less big names.

I agree with this. I'd prefer this over the Allen trade if he walks at the end of the season because the upside if we resign him is much higher.

Also, Stoudemire will be easier to move if he doesn't work out, much moreso than Martin. There's also a better chance that Amare fits with this team. Amare-JT-Hawes would be an excellent frontcourt, with Brock as our fourth to bring hustle and toughness.

And thats how a smaller market team like ours can sign a big name. If we offer the big $... cause there is only so many max $ given in this kind of economy. And teams are 50/50 on whether Amare deserves max dollars.

But honestly... how many players will take less money to stay with a team? not very many. Can anyone really see kobe or lebron taking anything less than top $ in their prime yrs to stay? They'll say the right things and that they only care to win... only because they know they'll get the max $ anyways.

I'd like to hold on to JT is possible. Suns might bite on Kmart + K9 + lotto-protected first.

I wouldn't want to give up JT either. But do we really think they would accept Kenny Thomas as their new PF? Its just a realistic trade in terms of the amount of talent we would have to give up.

The salaries may not work out right with Martin + JT + 2nd... but I'm sure they can throw in other enders etc to make it work. Like a Armstrong.

I remember this from last yr when Amare was available and the Kings had talked to the Suns briefly. ANd they wanted JT included in the package to replace Amare's spot.

I like JT... but do you guys remember watching Amare just a few games ago. Remember what he did to us? JT still struggles to make lay ups at times. Amare was just killin us.

Amare doesnt play defense and he's a mediocre rebounder. When he starts to decline athletically, he's going to lose a lot of his offensive game. No thanks.

What he said, I know I wont be the only one laughing if Pat Riley gives up Beasley and a first round pick for Amare. Beasley will turn into a 20/8 scoring machine for the last couple years of playing with Steven Nash. While Wade and Amare struggle to be more than 6th in the east...

But I would prefer Chris Bosh over Amare. Bosh seems more of a team guy and he has the potential to play better D.

I know GP said the Bosh trade won't happen but you never know with GP.

No but they might like his massive expiring contract to pair with Martin

Also I agree about Jt not being our best option but that's why I would like to see him as the third man in our rotation. if we have to give up jt i would do it, but like ppl have been saying amare isnt the best option so if we can get him cheap id really prefer that

Considering that Donte absolutely mauled Amar'e on D, I see your point.

Heard this on the Rise Guys this morning.

Hmm, I wouldn't mind getting Stoudemire. If the price was Martin + filler then I would do it in a second. Not really interested in letting go of any of our young players for him though... (maybe spencer :P )

If Amare has decided that he's going to stay under contract next season (likely a statement designed to make it easier to facilitate a big trade), then I'm not against bringing him in. It's not that I don't like Kevin Martin. I do, but he's not THE GUY, and we're going to be paying him a significant amount of money over the next three years to play a role that doesn't make our team better. If we landed Amare, coupled him with Tyreke and the others, and let them play the rest of this season together, I think the team would be better, and if that keeps Amare under contract for another season, then we can continue building around him and Tyreke. If he opts out, yeah, we lost Martin, which would suck, but when you consider the savings and the fact that Martin isn't the piece that's going to get us back into contention, it's not that huge of a loss. But IF Amare helps us become a bubble team AND we can re-sign him to a reasonable contract (not max money), then it's worth it, in my mind. I think we're better with Amare than we are with Martin.

I actually wouldn't mind trading for Murphy if nothing better came along for KT. The rationale being that if the Kings don't think they can sign another big name player this summer, then KT's expiring contract essentially becomes a wasted asset. Sure having open cap space can help facilitate other trades, but with Murphy you are basically turning KT's 8-9 million dollar expiring contract this season into an 11 million dollar expiring contract next season. If our big free agent push is going to be 2 years from now when there may be less team's with cap space or a different cap structure, having Murphy's EC next season might be very useful. Because we can either let his contract expire and be in the same position as letting KT's contract expire. Or we can deal him to either a bad team looking to trade talent for cap relief or a contender who wants a stretch 4, but doesn't want to make a long term financial commitment (since he will be expiring). Either way, that might fit our plans better than simply letting KT's contract come off the cap.

Edit - I'll add that I of course mean trading KT for Murphy and not giving up any of our other assets to obtain him.

He's scheduled to make $17 mil next season. there's no way he commands that on the open market. he won't opt out

Thats what I was saying earlier. He won't opt out this yr considering there are so many other big names out there and only a hand full of team with max money. He has a much higher chance of getting a close to max deal next season when there is a lot less supply of big stars available in FA.
